What flat ankle boots are we going to be wearing this winter, especially with skirts and dresses?

Ok, not patterned, admittedly

hoddtastic · 16/09/2016 22:43

those river island ones look like someone's welded 2 pairs together. Badly.

ReturnoftheWhack · 16/09/2016 22:46

I want to see the mushroom boots!!

RunnyRattata · 16/09/2016 22:51

Sadly it was the patterns that drew me to them PacificGrin

Iambubbles86 · 16/09/2016 22:56

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00I4Z26FU/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1 no idea if they are in fashion but these are my "this year" winter boots and they are soooo warm and comfy

Hamiltoes · 16/09/2016 22:57

Not keen on those sock boots at all..

I really hope western(ish) come in.. Also love pixie boots, i think they're really flattering. I tried SO hard to persevere with chelsea boots but I just never found them suited to me at all.. I like my feet to look dainty, not chunky Grin

Last year i lived in Dune Rhoda suede boots.. Absolutely loved them.. www.dunelondon.com/mobile/rhoda-ruched-dressy-heeled-boot-0153508740004037/?CAWELAID=120181620000202240&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=21495095161&CATCI=pla-78788022272&__ja=tsid:81761%7Ccid:341321881%7Cagid:21495095161%7Ctid:pla-78788022272%7Ccrid:101292687601%7Cnw:g%7Crnd:1172056725751170186%7Cdvc:m%7Cadp:1o2&gclid=CMvSysbwlM8CFdgaGwodSWIHpQ&gclsrc=aw.ds

PacificDogwod · 17/09/2016 08:52

Runny, yes, I got that Grin

I saw a pair in the shop window of Office yesterday, then walked a bit further and there was that expensive pair in R&B, so I thought "aha! there is a trend!"

And guess what, I was right Grin
First time ever I spotted a trend

PacificDogwod · 17/09/2016 08:54

More patterned boots

Clearly my googling ability last night was a bit tired Grin

Wellhellothere1 · 17/09/2016 09:25

Ok I don't know how to link on my phone but I've bought these boots from next. I'm hoping they will go well with black skinnies but to be fair I haven't worn them yet. Plus they aren't really practical for the UK winters but who cares? I love them.

Lots of suede and velvet together with sock boots, over the knee boots and also seems to be a lot of big platform soles around. Also lots of buckles and chunky heels. The very flat boots I've seen are moccasins style boots.

nicebitofsodaandjam · 17/09/2016 10:52

Ooh I love suede boots. Anyone got any examples of good long but flat soled boots?

HelenaJustina · 17/09/2016 11:16

Right. So I've got some ankle suede boots from a couple of years ago. Kind of slouchy round the top. They need re-heeling but the consensus seems to be that I can wear them without being laughed at?

Otherwise it's my good old brown leather, just below knee, riding style with small heel. Which do feel classic but a bit dated tbh

ThinkPinkStink · 17/09/2016 11:26

I'm not a fashionista, but for the last few winters I have found my 'happy-boot-place'...

Suede over knee flats (from Clarks or M&S) in black. I'm short, but I love them, especially over skinny jeans. And because they are suede my legs don't look too much like shiny sausages.

Biker boots - from Kurt Geiger - can be layered with thick woolly socks, good grips on the sole. Also black.

This year I'm planning on branching out to a pair of Chelsea boots, probably also black.

travailtotravel · 17/09/2016 11:33

I am going to have to use "existing stock" - however, since the stock includes knee high leather, suede chelsea and cuban heel shoe boots, I am hoping I will be able to get away with it.

gallicgirl · 17/09/2016 11:50

Suede is rubbish for winter unless you can guarantee no rain.

I could live with a flat pixie boot perhaps.

Destinysdaughter · 17/09/2016 11:55

This was on the catwalk recently. Personally I do like this look!

Thingvellir · 17/09/2016 12:07

Oooh I like those sock boots!

I like the over knee style too but not sure I'd wear in the workplace - they have foxy connotations Grin

gingerbreadmanm · 17/09/2016 14:21

aldo always have lovely boots on.

Floisme · 17/09/2016 15:36

I love some of those patterned boots Pacific Grin But velvet or indeed any fabric is useless for winter footwear. I don't even get on well with suede.

RunnyRattata · 17/09/2016 15:50

That first pair made me oggle and covet and I don't like brown or pointy toes or skinny heels and I'm completely not fashion conscious. Grin Must be one of those odd childhood things where we're drawn to something and don't know why Grin

travailtotravel · 17/09/2016 16:48

I spray my suede with nikwax - really really effective waterproofing. Get it from outdoor shops. None of that scotchguard nonsense they try and sell you in shoe shops.

RunnyRattata · 17/09/2016 17:02

Good tip travel thanks.

HelenaJustina · 17/09/2016 19:56

I'm not brilliant with fashion and have no one else to ask. Could I wear either of these with dresses/skirts for work? I wear mostly navy/blue/grey. Need to be smartish but can get away with denim midi with smart shirt for example.
Last winter I wore black shoe boots or knee high brown leather. It's the knee highs that I think might be a bit dated...
