Is it just me that finds Cos clothes strangely shapeless?

I was just in there and everything is oversized or shapeless. Who does it actually look good on??

OP posts:
helenatroy · 11/09/2016 21:44

That is a hideous photo.

BadToTheBone · 11/09/2016 21:57

The picture is awful!

plimsolls · 11/09/2016 22:11

That does look bloody awful. I've not seen their current offerings but that's horrible. And I speak as a Cos devotee!

helenatroy · 11/09/2016 22:27

If you were being held hostage and that was the only outfit available so you escape. You'd stay put wouldn't you?

QueenSpartacusOfTheAndals · 11/09/2016 22:30

Also, who would actually buy these trousers?

To be fair, I could go probably any clothing sites and find some horrible things on them. Cos does have many nice things as well as these horrible examples!

QueenSpartacusOfTheAndals · 11/09/2016 22:42

And this screams 'sadistic dental nurse'...

True plimsolls and that white top is not bad, it's just the way the models on the website have been styled.

I do like the Cos children's clothes though.

Tibblesthecat · 11/09/2016 22:47

Errr.....I bought those trousers. They were fab but I returned them as they were too dressy for my current role of SAHM.

I have a shirt very similar to the white one too but mine has shorter sleeves. It was admired a lot when I wore it in the office (prior to being a SAHM).

Really I think the clothes have to be tried on. The website doesn't show the clothes to their full potential.

Floisme · 11/09/2016 22:57

I like the trousers too.

3Eggses · 11/09/2016 23:10

The hideous styling on their website is the sole reason I've never purchased anything from Cos. Everything looks boxy and comes in unflattering lengths. If they can't be bothered to sell their clothes to me I'm not buying. I don't ever want to look like this www.cosstores.com/gb/Women/New/Checked_shirt_dress/32993034-54810862.1#c-22755

HappyAxolotl · 11/09/2016 23:17

Maybe it's a shop I should check out? The models on the website and the dummies in the window in the finest gulag chic have certainly never enticed me in. If a teenager who wears a size 4 looks huge in a square shaped dress 3x the size of her body then I have no hope at all.

Youremywifenow · 11/09/2016 23:34

I only own one thing from cos. Saw a woman at the tram stop with my perfect coat on so asked her where she got if from. Hers was navy blue and she had a thick scarf in the same colour on with it. I waited until the following winter before they got them in again (mine is black), they seem to bring one out every year.
I would never have looked at it if I hadn't seen it on someone else as it looks an odd shape on the hanger and in the picture.

This is its current incarnation:
www.cosstores.com/gb/Women/Coats_Jackets/Square-neck_A-line_coat/46891-48388139.1#c-22755
Mine has a round neck and opens in the centre.
I love it, it looks really smart and so warm. And because it's a-line, I wore it all through pregnancy as well (I'm 5'7 and currently fat all over).

Can recommend it.

PickAChew · 11/09/2016 23:39

Much of it looks like bedding.

I love, love, lurve Cos. About 80% of my wardrobe is from there. I'm 5'3' size 8, hourglass shape and petite. Rare is the day I don't wear something from there and most days I'm head to toe in the stuff. I would never buy anything from the website because it's impossible to know the 'real' shape of anything because 1. the website photos are awful and 2. a lot of stuff is 'structural' in some way you just can't tell what it will look like on you. I have a lot of their more way-out-there stuff and shapeless is the last word you could use to describe them.

Kr1stina · 12/09/2016 00:32

I'm an apple and I love Cos.

I always buy instore as the website is hellish

I always try on as the clothes have no hanger appeal

And I don't own anything black.

The reason some people rave about it on MN is that there are very few other stores who sell that particular style in narural fabrics at high street prices . The alternatives are designer, so not in most people's budgets.

Whereas if you prefer a more classic style, there are many high street shops to choose from .

Also the kind of women who suit Cos clothes often look really frumpy if they dress in the MN standard Boden / M$S/ whistles / jigsaw. So when they find Cos it's like they have found their spiritual home Grin and they get excited and want to tell everyone .

NewBallsPlease00 · 12/09/2016 00:52

I love it
I am a curvy petite 10, Butvwith boobs not good ones
I have to watch length but the make up and pleating necklines etc is clever. Fabric choices good. Colour palette simple and effective.
I have about 5 items from there I've bought ice years and always get compliments on still. Good nihilist accessories too
Basically I can chick them on, add red lipstick and look done without being try hard
If they would either open a load more stores or seriously improve their online operation I'd buy loads from there, but it's classic h&m painful!!

Rainatnight · 12/09/2016 07:04

Queen on those culottes you posted upthread, they are fantastic on. Normal people need to wear them with a top tucked in to create a sense of a waist, but they're really stylish, elegant and versatile in the flesh.

Anyway, I think we all need to agree to disagree about Cos!

And secretly, one of the things I like about wearing Cos is that some people don't get it

teddygirlonce · 12/09/2016 07:30

Inspired by comments that their clothes look a lot better on that off I will be revisiting Cos and taking another look.

Backingvocals · 12/09/2016 09:43

I really like those culottes - not the leather ones. And I love the coat. I have a Cos cardigan actually I have three, one in blue and two black in the same style and I live in them in the winter.

Backingvocals · 12/09/2016 09:44

but yes the children's clothes are great. Especially for boys - there are no brown t-shirts with superheroes on them. And yes to going into the store - the website is horrific.

hollyisalovelyname · 12/09/2016 10:12

I love those culottes too, but with a black scoop neck or square neck t shirt and nice accessories.

EmpressTomatoKetchup · 12/09/2016 10:52

Me
I have severel real pairs of trousers a similar shape and length.

IJustLostTheGame · 12/09/2016 12:24

I have boobs.
I have no chance in cos unless I want to look 3 stone heavier.
