Is it just me that finds Cos clothes strangely shapeless?

I was just in there and everything is oversized or shapeless. Who does it actually look good on??

mooimevrouw · 10/09/2016 17:35

I'm short and have big boobs, but have lots of cos stuff. Not everything works, but the bits I have that do really are lovely on!
Not a lot in at the moment though ..

Sugarandsalt · 10/09/2016 18:01

I have a few things from there, not much. My sister is a similar size to me (12-14) but broad shouldered and fairly straight up and down and everything there seems to suit her. I'm hourglass shaped with 30F bust and small waist, large bum and most things look like pjs on me- but I do find the odd thing I like.

Vvlgari · 10/09/2016 18:18

I have to say, their website doesn't do the clothes any favours. All those weird pigeon-toes poses while wearing a dress that makes the model look like Bod.

Cos's stuff is far nicer IMO than how it's shown on the website.

Charitygirl1 · 10/09/2016 19:07

I like their stuff but it's not good for pear-y hourglasses. I think it's brilliant for apples though.

shins · 10/09/2016 19:12

I'm short, slimmish and flat-chested so a lot of it suits me, if I was taller it'd be everything! Love Cos. Although the sizing is batshit; I've been every size from 8-14 according to them. I wouldn't bother online as you have to try everything on but there's one in town.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 10/09/2016 19:13

I'm a short apple and love their clothes, they rarely work for anyone with a defined waist imo who are normally the people who don't see the point.

SerenDippitee · 10/09/2016 19:14

It's H&M's big sister. Very much an 'architect chic' kind of vibe - minimalist shapes to be worn with thick glasses and a serious expression.

I am an hourglass and it all looks dreadful on me, but my sister looks fabulous in COS.

Oblomov16 · 10/09/2016 19:23

I do.
But I find it hard to find short fitted clothes.
Everything in most of the shops are long and shapeless.

Where are we supposed to go to get non shapeless clothes?

shins · 10/09/2016 19:25

Ha Serendipitee I was introduced to Cos by my architect SIL...she says the clothes are"architectural"! Smile

helenatroy · 10/09/2016 19:27

Excellent stylish alternative to maternity clothing. You really have to try the things on. They look hopeless on the hangers but often great on

christinarossetti · 10/09/2016 19:31

I love the look of Cos clothes but even their XS is too big for me. I'm 5'4" and size 8, so I would expect to be able to find adult clothes to fit!

My friend is about my height and a size 12 or so, and Cos clothes look great on her.

dudsville · 10/09/2016 19:40

I'm not keen. I have a cardigan from there but that's it.

wigglybeezer · 10/09/2016 22:46

I first went in to a Branch of Cos in Berlin, felt I had found my tribe ( of straight up and down non fussy vaguely arty women between 30 and 70!). I always try on the weirder stuff but chicken out and buy classics though.

dragonsarebest · 10/09/2016 22:47

You have to try on a lot of things in a variety of sizes, but when you find something that works, it works brilliantly. I have various bits, but the 3 work dresses on heavy rotation are lifesavers. Cos clothes seem to generate compliments more than anything else I wear.

Tibblesthecat · 10/09/2016 23:54

Half my wardrobe is Cos. I LOVE it. I am 5ft 2 and size 10-12.

Today I bought three tops. I reluctantly left a beautiful dress and a pair of trousers behind as I 'couldn't afford to buy them .

zgaze · 10/09/2016 23:57

Love cos, hate the website - you need to see / feel / try the clothes in person I think. I'm short with massive boobs and love lots of it on.

joellevandyne · 11/09/2016 00:04

I have a body shape that suits the label but I would be reluctant to buy again as I have found their clothes tend to wash terribly. A certain kind of "shapeless" can look quite cool and androgynous but I can't be doing with clothes that are shapeless because they've shrunk too much and twisted on their seams so they sit skewiff.

shins · 11/09/2016 08:15

I have to add that not all their clothes are shapeless. My favourite dress of theirs, the go-to dress that never lets me down, has a nipped-in waist and a full 50s type skirt shape of stiff material that doesn't need a slip. It's really flattering and has worn well.

A friend of mine who's worked in the fashion industry for 20 years discovered Cos recently on a visit home-she lives in the US. She was in raptures and bought half the shop. "The fabric! The cut! The colours!" She couldn't believe the high street prices for such clothes.

Sugarandsalt · 11/09/2016 08:42

Shins I agree- I have some lovely basic t-shirts and a few jumpers/1 long cardigan that are nicely fitted. But a lot of their stuff is very shapeless. It's lovely material and cuts so I always take a look but a lot of their stuff is very shapeless.

Rainatnight · 11/09/2016 08:53

I love it, and always get compliments for anything I wear from Cos, BUT I avoid the black sack dresses as I'm too small for them. (5 feet nothing, slim, but with boobs and a bum). You just have to look for the stuff that suits you.

I love the quality, fabrics, details...

TheVeryThing · 11/09/2016 08:58

Agree with 'structured in a clever way'. Unless you've gone in there and tried on a lot of things then you really can't say whether it suits you.
I once tried on a jumper just because it looked so bizarre on the hanger and I ended up buying it, it's still in great shape 4 years later and I always get compliments when I wear it.
I'm 5'4"", and a pear shaped size 12 (medium sized boobs) and most of.my work wardrobe is cos. I wear their dresses and tops but not trousers.
Like any shop, not everything in there will suit me but you really can't tell from looking online.

TheVeryThing · 11/09/2016 09:01

I disagree that they are shapeless. A lot of the clothes are not very fitted, but they have a very definite shape. You may not like the shape or it may not suit you, but that's not quite the same thing.

VHLV · 11/09/2016 09:07

90% of their clothes are absolutely shapeless. You can see miles away that it's COS as the body shape is totally messed up. A colleague of mine is a huge fan of COS, I've never seen her wearing anything else at the office. Once I invited her to London fashion week which she considered a great occasion to dress up in a figure hugging dress. I was amazed at how tiny her waist is!!! Turned out she was hiding a body of goddess Smile

Tessticklesyourfancy · 11/09/2016 09:24

I'm struggling to find words for this skirt.

Is it just me that finds Cos clothes strangely shapeless?
VHLV · 11/09/2016 09:29

Hahaha
