BTM Sad Sorry your DM is so down. How lovely that your DS is looking out for you. I've been getting hugs aplenty from DS today, because he's ill. He doesn't do ill. There has been much wailing about how he hates feeling so bad, and can mummy make it better, please? He does have some very unpleasant-looking tonsils, poor lamb.

Blackduck · 19/09/2016 07:24

I overdid the chilli and suspect ds wont make school today ... whoops....

BTM sorry about DM - you know my thoughts on this - ''tis grim.

Strops hope you have a quiet week.
Beach hope the many meetings are productive.

I need to hammer out an application that is due in tomorrow (odd day?)

Good luck for the application BD. How much chilli did you use?!

BTM, so sorry about your mum. Thinking of you.

Stropps, I hope your week is less eventful than last week. You must be shattered. Stand firm Smile

Still haven't really caught up from last week. On bus to work and facing another rather hectic one. Aargh! I am now playing peekaboo with an adorable toddler so I feel more cheery.

26th November- who is in? I'll try to book cote next weekend. Please add your name so j can try to keep up

Monty

Back later I hope - will have a bit of time while girls at brownies.

MontserratCaballe · 19/09/2016 07:44

X posts Rudy. Hope ds continues to get better and is not too tired. Take it easy. Huge hugs.

bigTillyMint · 19/09/2016 07:55

Thanks for all your support, crepesters.

BD, my DS would love your chilli - you should see the amount of hot pepper sauce he puts on every meal!

motherinferior · 19/09/2016 13:52

Poor old DD2 also off sick - I had to collect her, and given that the school doesn't suffer chancers lightly I knew she definitely needed to. Is weepy and has thrown up.Sad

Blackduck · 19/09/2016 14:05

Oh dear MI!
Here they wanted to ship new dog this weekend! As dp is away this isn't doable so we will have him 9thOctober :)

herbaceous · 19/09/2016 15:59

Frippery alert. DP is off to New York, as I may have mentioned. As recompense for this outrageous bit of unfairness, I require lovely things from Duty Free. But what? Any recommendations for amazing creams, unguents or slap?

motherinferior · 19/09/2016 16:22

I want to try the Neutrogena retinol range you can only get in Amazon here...

herbaceous · 19/09/2016 16:24

I was thinking of something outlandishly expensive...

Cremolafoam · 19/09/2016 17:28

Oh Herbs , yes. Perfume or snake oil in pretty jar?
I am loving Acqua di Gio, and benefit or Mac anything. Ooh het more Ruby woo.!!!
Hope the cold doesn't last.

BTM , I squeezed a wee tear about your MU and ds.
Rudy, all sounds positive for ds. A bit of time for yourself now?
B d I can't wait until October for Flash saviour of the Crepeyverse. Aargh

Going to Iceland on Wednesday. Feel like an international jet setter Grin
In the meantime gp is weaning me off Pregabalin and I feel like a drug addict.( crawly skin and banging heart) tis vile.

On the subject of unbelievably rude comments regarding fertility. My absolute favourite was the assumption that dd ( my niece) was a great consolation for it being able to conceive. ( 5 IvF s and 4 miscarriages and the final embryo transfer going wrong and ending up with peritonitis and nearly cow ping)

" oh well at least you've got dd"
fuck off sideways.
Grin

herbaceous · 19/09/2016 17:42

Oh crem. Sad you have had the most awful time. I always imagine hitting these nosy types in the face with a frying pan, Tom and Gerry style.

Re duty free, I'm thinking snake oil, or make up where the colour doesn't matter. Such as mascara, nail stuff, unless there's a Laura mercier for her wondrous tinted moisturiser.

motherinferior · 19/09/2016 17:53

Chanel 19 is Mr Inferior's failsafe GrinGrin

herbaceous · 19/09/2016 17:55

With perfume, I only really wear one, and it's not available in duty free. I'm that exclusive.

Rosebag · 19/09/2016 17:57

Oh god the change of season lurgyies have arrived. Not in my house. No. no honking up especially.

Tilly I feel so sad about your DM and for you. Did you say she's on ADs at some point? But lovely that DS is being a sweetie and walking in the woods is good for anyone's soul Flowers

There is a couple in my play who have had fertility issues. In real life I never know which of my clients have been through that journey unless they tell me. I have to tread so very carefully. Flowers to all of you who have been hurt by thoughtless, ignorant comments. The pain runs deep.

I am feeling strangely detached. Maybe it has something to do with DS2s departure. I don't know. This is not helped by the unbelievably snotty responses I have had from the organisation because I dared, for the first time in 12 ( twelve, Xii) years, to ask for flexibility on the date of my teaching licence review as it was set for the week of the play reading, yom kippur plus me having been on conference just a few days previous to all three. The latest reply I have had asked me if it was viable for me to keep teaching in the future. I am furious. Angry. Seething. The only time I have ever, in all my years of teaching, postponed anything was the week my Ddad died last year. And I re booked it for the following week even though I didn't feel ready. I have sent a politely worded but blistering reply. Sad

Auriga · 19/09/2016 18:17

Crem, I've come to the conclusion that any sentence which includes the words 'at least' is best left unsaid. In all circumstances.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 19/09/2016 18:18

Bloody Hell Rose. Some people just take your breath away. I think a frying pan a la Herbs might be an acceptable riposte. Sheesh!

bigTillyMint · 19/09/2016 18:21

Herbs, I would want more fitness gear from Old Navy - how cheap am I?Grin

So sorry for all of you who struggled with conception - why are some people so thoughtless?

RoseAngry - how horrid of them.

Stropperella · 19/09/2016 19:27

Auriga, so agree re: 'at least'. I find that as I get older, I am much more inclined to give these sorts of utterances a very sour response. It used to be that I was so worried about other people's feelings that even when they'd just trampled all over mine, I would still not want to hurt theirs. Now I often think, 'Ah, fuck off.' But say something something a bit less.. rudimentary.

BD, excellent news about the impending arrival of Flash (aaah-ah-aaah). But, I've got to ask: why are you getting a hound from Greece? Will you have to talk to him in Greek? Grin

Rose, sorry to hear about the crap behaviour from your employer. :(

BTM, it is very sad to hear about your dm's state of mind. Is there nothing the docs can do about her medication? Hooray for your ds, though. A lovely boy :)

Dd sent a message over the w/e to say she was homesick and wanted to visit. I said I was sorry that she was feeling down, but I didn't think a visit was a good idea (to put it mildly). It then went quiet again, until this afternoon, when she suddenly messaged to say that she hadn't got her loan money. It transpired that she hasn't actually registered at the university yet. She did her usual trick of going pathetic and saying she was confused and didn't know anything about anything. She refused to register the Friday afternoon I dropped her off and was supposed to do it on the Saturday. Which she clearly didn't do. Of course, now I have found all the important paperwork re: registration (that I printed out for her, with instructions and time frames, natch) and her student finance paperwork, just lying in her room. I put it in a nice plastic folder for her and she just chucked to to one side. And did not listen to one single word of the instructions that I passed on to her about all the admin she needed to do. I don't believe she has been to any of the induction things or any lectures. I don't think she has done anything useful whatsoever. Still, she will either have to crack on and find out how to register or she won't get any money from the student finance people. And as she's not getting any from us, she will start to feel that quite soon. I will never cease to find her attitude entirely extraordinary and extremely annoying. It is really made so easy for them these days, with all the access to online info and "information points" all over the university. I am trying not to despair and instead to hope that one day she will realise if she doesn't pull her finger out and do stuff for herself, no one else will.

Ds is absolutely nothing like this and has been a self-starter since he was tiny, desperate to be independent and get on with things.

Soz, Herbs, I am no good at suggestions on S&B prezzie front. Especially as I've never been to NY and have no clue about it. Apart from it being in America. Grin

Crem, have a brilliant time in Iceland!

MI, thanks so much for the hint about Tom Yum paste. It is indeed yum. And just about the level of hot that I can tolerate.

Stropperella · 19/09/2016 20:11

Gah, have missed loads of posts from everybody. Monty, very best (and very belated) wishes for your birthday. Rudy, your boy is a star. Hope he's done ok today.

MI, well done on hacking through those words. I am quite good about getting work done at home, but generally only because there is some hideous deadline looming. Am not good at being sensible, getting up early and doing a bit each day. Which is why I am currently still not quite prepared for the start of term. Which happened 2 weeks ago. Oops.

Herbs, every sympathy for going down with a horrible cold right before the start of term. That is miserable.

motherinferior · 19/09/2016 20:11

Stropps, I would be nuclear AngryAngry
