November 26 good for me too. Also like the look of Cote & think their drinks menu, that follows the grub menu, is v good value.

Cremolafoam · 12/09/2016 15:23

Will look into November, but I think put me down for a quieter gentler post Xmas mop up. ( like it)
Sadly no Caribbean blow out for next year, but may have to help dm in November pack up French house. Not that I have any leave left tbh.Star to the V.organised Monteroo.

Stropperella · 12/09/2016 15:41

Yy to Nov 26th.
Posting from work, so in a bit of a hurry. Not supposed to be here today, but am so behind with everything.
Odd at home without dd, as we don't have to lock various doors any more and the atmosphere is quite different.

wordassociationfootball · 12/09/2016 15:46

Private room Monty.... yes, yes, yes. What a good idea. Any mooted date fine with me.

His neck, Crem? Excellent. Was it the 'Crem 4 eva' tattoo?

Grin at delightful tiddly suitor.

Ruby woo was spot on Herbs.

I found the gf ciabatta just made me miss wheat, but I hoofed it down anyway.

Gorge patio BD. (My dad used to pronounce it 'payshow.' He also said 'Pitza Hat')

Cremolafoam · 12/09/2016 15:51

Hello from North Heavenly at Lake Tahoe, having left the Valley of the Moon in Sonoma County in California (yes, really). We are about 7,500 ft above the Lake with spectacular views. The stay with our friends was great; lovely to see them again, with some amazing excursions and fantastic food, including the most expensive meal I have ever had. There was a rehearsal dinner taking place at one restaurant (80 people, DH estimated that it would cost in excess of $80,000 - the wedding must be something special).

The apartment we have is comfortable (with a two person jacuzzi in one corner of the bedroom). DH has just gone off on an organised hike, while I am lazing about; then we are driving down to one of the beaches at the lake.

Good to hear that Crem's party went well (still awaiting a photo, MI). And particularly delighted that DD got off ok, Stropps. How is DS, Rudy?

The photo is taken from our balcony.

Not too shabby, NU. Very similar to the view from my own window.

26 November is my birthday! I may be whisked off for a romantic dinner for two, but as that's highly unlikely, I reckon a crepey do would be right up my strasse.

bigTillyMint · 12/09/2016 17:45

Looks fab NU! And Envy at Jacuzzi in a corner of the bedroom!

bigTillyMint · 12/09/2016 17:47

Herbs, we would be much more fun! And then it gives you the chance to make it a birthday weekend and celebrate on Fri/Sun with your dearestWink

hattymattie · 12/09/2016 17:47

Wow NU - looks absolutely amazing. Crem - like the smart casual - what are you talking about fatter? Sorry to hear Ddad is still fragile.

Rudy how's DS doing?

DD1 waved goodbye to her Japanese students, very sorrowfully it seems. She is now concentrating on intensive driving - so watch out on the streets of Cambridge.

I'm not sure about Nov - will look into it but will definately try for January. NU/MM - would love to meet you both

hattymattie · 12/09/2016 18:02

"Definitely" - god my spelling - too long in France.Blush

Cremolafoam · 12/09/2016 18:10

I want a jacuzzi in my bedroom! Right now. NU it looks absolutely marvellous. The blue sky , the fresh air, wow! Do tell about very expensive meal. I'd love to hear what you ate ! And by the way, thanks so so much for sending me a birthday card on top of juggling the dgcs, late tickets and tours of Dublin airport. Very sweet NU. It was a lovely surprise.

November ain't happening for me either Hatty, so new year it tis.

Of to Dad now, with mini boiled potatoes in tinfoil and a tub of blackberries out of the hedge. Hope I can cheer him up a bit. DM spoke to the consultant this a,m. About the oxygen sitch, but is avoiding the subject when I ask. I think she has a lot of thinking to do, so I'm not pushing it.

Lalsy · 12/09/2016 18:38

Nov 26th good for me, hurrah.

NU, wow. I too want to know what you ate. Did you take pics?

Nice look, Crem.

dd just facetimed me (I am in a pub with that wifi thing, of distant memory). her room is also still tidy......

hattymattie · 12/09/2016 18:53

Good on DD Smile. My DD2 has just told me it will be my fault if she get's fat because I won't pay for her 30 euro swimming card. We gave her 3K at the beginning of the year which she still has in the bank. I pointed out she might like to use some of it. She told me she will look like "Jabba the Hut" and it will be because of me. I do not think I am BU!

Also she says all her friends have double the Uni cash which she has - we give 2K for the year and they have to manage and top this up. DD1 has always done admirably and never complained. DD2 I might be a different kettle of fish.Hmm

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/09/2016 19:06

Ha yes, Hatty. DD1 saves every penny. DD2's money leaves her account as soon as it hits it.

Count me in for meet up, just tell me when and where... November works, but also agree with BD - Jan/Feb for those of us with birthdays then - BD, me, Stropps.

Rosebag · 12/09/2016 19:23

...and me, (in January, I mean....)

Lalsy · 12/09/2016 19:56

Hatty, I tried to sort money with my dd last week....is tricky. We have to give her a lot more than a friend with (subsidised) catering included in her accommodation fee needs, as she spends loads of time on campus and the outlets are all expensive. And cider....

Blackduck · 13/09/2016 06:10

I have had arsy student threaten me with legal action......

hattymattie · 13/09/2016 06:47

OMG - BD - the level of entitlement is breathtaking. Is it a serious threat or is it games playing to get what they want. It's just what you don't need at the moment.

Did yoga for the first time ever last night. As suspected, I am not at all bendy but I did sleep very well.

Blackduck · 13/09/2016 06:54

He's threatening me with breach of contract which my DBro (a barrister - always handy to have one in the family) says is patent nonsense as the contract is with the University not me personally. The laugh is he's a law student Confused
I am just debating whether to take a formal complaint.

MontserratCaballe · 13/09/2016 07:06

BD, he sounds bonkers. Can you get him disciplined?

Blackduck · 13/09/2016 07:11

MC it's a tricky one - he's very favoured - ling boring back story - basically he has/d a full scholarship however he has now taken a full time lecturering role and we have said can't be ft student and ft staff (he's a research student) so scholarship must stop. He's claiming breach.....

Rosebag · 13/09/2016 07:58

BD Surely he'd be suing the university and not you personally. Silly man...he's trying it on and thinks that you'll be intimidated by a bit of sabre rattling.

Hatty I have read DS2 the riot act about cutting his coat according to his cloth when he goes to Uni at the weekend. He is on "meal plan" which also includes a sum each week for food out of the hall fees. Hew says its not enough. We say..."manage".

NU That looks heavenly. Envy Envy Envy Is Sonoma not wine country? Wine

The venue for the play Reading is driving me slowly nuts. I am going down there tomorrow to sort it all out. I am not looking forward to this. On the up side I am seeing ConS this afternoon. I do not know whether to give him a hard time or just let it go... Hmm

Lalsy · 13/09/2016 08:06

Light relief questions crepey after ou were all so helpful about my summer clothes shopping (ended up at Great Plains following rose's advice). Last winter I usually wore uniqlo jeans, heat tech top, jumper (possibly with slightly posh neckline). If I wanted to buy a couple of bits to vary things a little where should I look? I have just bought a denim skirt but no idea what to put on my feet with it (have very short stumpy calves).

Rose, perhaps don't mention at first and see? I think I would want to say something but perhaps once relaxed and back in tune with each other?

BD, he sounds delightful.

motherinferior · 13/09/2016 08:29

More light relief questions: I need a basic, foolproof nice cookie recipe. The girls are coming in starving ( dur), and we have no crumpets or suchlike, and they are both tired and scratchy because it's the beginning of term. I thought I would run something up at lunchtime - we don't have enough oats for flapjack (my usual mindless fallback) but we have butter, soft brown sugar, self-raising flour...I fancy adding walnuts (a gesture to Nutrition), we have vanilla and cinnamon and suchlike and indeed porridge oats, just not enough for flapjack (particularly as I eat porridge in the mornings). Recommendations from all and sundry, lurkers included?
