What's your 'everyday' lipstick shade?

I normally wear Mac Russian Red or Ruby Woo, but only for nights out. I find it too much effort during the day.

I've been after a more subtle everyday lipstick to lift my look a bit...I need to feel more polished than I do at the moment.

I know shade depends on skin tone and hair colour, but interested to see what the S&B board considers a good starting point. I'm blonde and fair.

TIA

Mac Russian Red

rubybleu · 26/08/2016 09:02

Bobbi Brown Desert Rose or MAC Lustre in Capricious. Both flattering rose shades.

mogloveseggs · 26/08/2016 09:07

Rimmel drop of sherry

becciandbump · 26/08/2016 18:54

Don't wear lipstick unless I got out on an evening but when I do I wear a dior one it stays in really well

pollyblack · 26/08/2016 19:02

Love clinique almost lipstick in black honey, i buy it on ebay.

Also the elizabeth arden lip balm in wine is excellent.

Aveda uruku ones are nice too.

Doobigetta · 26/08/2016 19:36

Another vote for Clinique whole lotta honey. I also like graped up, which is slightly darker and pinker.

MaQueen · 26/08/2016 19:57

I love Boy by Chanel. A really pretty, natural pink.

I'm ash blonde with blue/grey eyes but quite warm toned skin, and it's very flattering.

My MAC Hue is arriving tomorrow

Thanks for all the inspiration on this thread (and I now know what 'MLBB' means!)

I've tried so many of the shades on this thread and I'm pale, blonde, blue eyes, low contrast face and warm skim tone but prone to some redness, and most of them make me look ill!

I'm warm skin toned too, and find that most lipsticks seem to be more suitable for cool tones. I went into Kiko for the first time a few weeks ago and found just one lipstick (I like red and coral pink shades and prefer matte) that suited me, so disappointing.

the tooth fairy I think eBay and Amazon should post worldwide of you wanted to oder online?

OrdinaryGirl · 26/08/2016 23:40

I'm blonde with pale skin and nondescript blue-grey eyes. I found two Holy Grail lip colours I wear every day:
Both Clinique Chubby Sticks, in
Super Strawberry
and
Budding Blossom

The Super Strawberry is like lip colour but MORE, and the Budding Blossom looks like bubble gum in the tube but then reacts somehow with your skin to arrive at a beautiful petal pink.

puglife I'd be astonished if one of these didn't suit you.

The formulation is the most perfect I've ever found in a lip colour - moisturising, buildable, long-lasting, smooth and even - and I've been wearing lip colour (balms, glosses, tints, lipsticks, everything) for more than 20 years.

(Recommend avoiding the Chubby Stick Intense though. Very drying with quite lurid, one-dimensional shades.)

Botanicbaby · 27/08/2016 00:10

I'm blonde and fair with green eyes. I like Mac See Sheer for everyday use.

Its a watermelon shine which looks neutral ish (on me). Great for everyday wear. I say that as someone who loves Russian Red.

(former heather shimmer devotee, the nineties lipsticks were SO beige weren't they!)

puglife15 · 27/08/2016 00:16

Thanks, I'll try those Ordinary. I tend to go for coral or peach shades though, anything too pink doesn't suit me... I've spent literally 1000s trying to find my hg lip shade and still am not there!

Kateallison16 · 27/08/2016 00:16

Mac Velvet teddy or similar colours in a pinky/tan shade.
Sometimes I go in for a benefit tip tint.

StylishDuck · 28/08/2016 22:44

I just bought a new one today. A Kate Moss one from Rimmel in Boho Nude. Love it! It's pink enough to look like I'm wearing lipstick but subtle enough to not look ott for everyday use.

IAmALionTamer · 28/08/2016 23:53

Chanel Boy for me. Wore it on my wedding day and it never fails to make me feel better

BlueberryMuffins76 · 29/08/2016 09:26

Another one here for Mac Syrup. For a stronger colour, usually for work, I use the Max Factor Lipfinity gloss in Charming.

gonegrey56 · 29/08/2016 10:03

Another one recommending Chanel Boy. Love it!

sammy891 · 30/08/2016 22:36

Mac Hug Me is a good neutral nude for me

Featherstep · 30/08/2016 23:04

Dark hair, sallow skin tone here and I wear a lot of sheer red lip balms.
E.g. Korres rose, Burt's Bees Dahlia. Nivea does a lip balm with a hint of cherry red.

Also like Rimmel Asia, Revlon pink truffle or strawberry smoothie. MAC Plumful for fall and winter. Going to try Capricious as per suggestion here!

Botanicbaby · 31/08/2016 09:35

I tried Sleek make up for the first time. Lipstick was a fiver. Its AMAZING!

Shade is called liqueur (sounds dark but it really isn't) - it's a neutral pinky/brown nude sheen. MLBB type.
Perfect for everyday wear.

Am so impressed with the packaging which is not flimsy, in fact I can hardly get the top off. And it was a fiver. Bargain.

Lutrine · 31/08/2016 11:26

I usually wear Burt's Bees tinted lip balms or shimmer stick for everyday rather than lipstick, I really like their rhubarb shimmer stick at the moment.

VenusRising · 31/08/2016 11:32

I wear a chubby in strawberry from Clinique. It's quite long lasting.

There's another Clinique chubby I use which is more of a balm and it's also in bright pink. Seems to perk my skin up as I'm also quite sallow and can look green if I'm tired!

Pink on me looks Wicked! Wink

BabyGanoush · 31/08/2016 13:35

Clinique chubby sticks are ace IMO

Feels like lip balm (smooth, moisturising), looks like lipstick
