I've never heard of Boden ....

I'm 28 and I've never heard of it.
Have I been living under a rock.
What age is its target audience?
Is it for the more mature lady.
All I've seen since I joined is Boden this Boden that.
Am I missing out?

OP personally I wouldn't request the catalogue...they won't stop hounding you.

Just keep an eye online as they very often offer decent discounts.

BeautyQueen88 · 17/08/2016 12:44

I'm 28 and I hadn't heard of it until I discovered the mum channels on YouTube. It's very middle class mum which I definitely am not Confused

ElspethFlashman · 17/08/2016 12:55

Oh people on here are very defensive about Boden. Some people have half their wardrobes from it. I'm living in ROI and it has zero market reach here and no harm as it's far too expensive. I'm another one who had never heard of it before MN and was a bit shocked that people were spending that money on fairly matronly casual clothes tbh.

PaperdollCartoon · 17/08/2016 13:05

I'm 28 and think I'm just about to grow into Boden (which I had heard of before Mumsnet) I think their dresses are lovely and will be nice for work.

Yes it is a bit middle class mum, but that's not a bad thing, and to be honest that's probably what will best fit who I am in the next couple of years. Not ashamed!

Feelingsandtears · 17/08/2016 13:08

I'm more a Zara/H&M/river island/Topshop girl ..cheap and cheerful.
Love a bit of primark for scarves and basics.

I get bored of clothes easily so it's pointless spending a fortune on 1 thing.

I'm from Newcastle and I can't say I've heard it mentioned neither have my friends so maybe it depends what part of the U.K. You are based.

"I am always gobsmacked by people who haven't heard of it - I buy so much stuff from them!"

I hadn't heard of it until joining MN. I don't buy clothes online because nothing fits properly and I prefer to try clothes on in actual shops - usually by taking several sizes into the fitting room.

I have looked at their site and find the prices extortionate.

Feelingsandtears · 17/08/2016 13:14

Eeeeek £69.50 for a polo neck
Are you having a laugh ..you could find something in H&M or Zara for about £15 near identical
Deffo look when a sale is on

ElspethFlashman · 17/08/2016 13:15

I'm in my 40s and still love a bit of cheap and cheerful. It keeps me a bit trendier.

Occasionally I'll get worried I should have a "capsule wardrobe" full of "classic quality pieces".

But then I think Naaaaaah, that's boring. I'm going to get something bang on trend that lasts one season but only cost a fiver and makes me feel incredibly cool!

Feelingsandtears · 17/08/2016 13:22

Elspeth- I picked a top up in primark which I loved the other day £10 got to the till and it was £1 ...I feel great in it too.
If you feel good who cares if it comes from primark /Boden/Gucci

Feelings they don't do credit accounts (as far as I know). If you register for a catalogue your mail box will forever be clattering with the arrival of a new one every few weeks. Although they do send quite a few special offers too ( anyone else keep getting £10 no minimum spend vouchers from them?)

I love their toddler clothes for both boys and girls. We buy a lot from the kids range too. I only ever buy in the sale or when they send me the gift vouchers as otherwise they're so expensive. They tend to last well too, and can be passed on or resold on eBay.

NattyGolfJerkin · 17/08/2016 13:32

I find topshop extortionate and terrible quality for the prices. At least boden is generally good quality. The prices have rocketed in recent years, mind. I (mostly) like their plain stuff and their cashmere.

Feelingsandtears · 17/08/2016 13:59

Yeah Topshop is hit and miss.
i like the jeans and think they are good fitting.

I really wouldn't worry if you haven't heard of it. It's extremely expensive and very middle if the road mumsy.

XiCi · 17/08/2016 14:24

I'm 45 and would never have heard of Boden if I hadn't been on Mumsnet. Same goes for Fatface, Joules and Seasalt

JemimaMuddledUp · 17/08/2016 14:27

I first bought from Boden when I was 24. I know because I hard an email the other day telling me how long I'd been a customer. Still a fan, in fact I am wearing a Boden dress right now.

I introduced a 25yo colleague to them recently and she likes the clothes she ordered for work. So not necessarily old or mumsy.

Feelingsandtears · 17/08/2016 14:31

It seems very kate Middleton to me.
Not my thing really.
So people like dressing old before their time.

LexieSinclair · 17/08/2016 14:39

I think some of their prints can scream middle class mum but I have several of their basic tee shirts, jumpers and some skirts for work and I am so pleased with them. They are great quality and fit really nicely unlike some other brands. I never pay full price, I always buy in the sale or find a discount code.

Feelingsandtears · 17/08/2016 14:43

Really like this outfit ..
The floral stuff is too much for me

I had never heard of Boden before mumsnet either.

Had a baby three months ago and am sat wearing my first ever Boden dress. Guess my transformation to "mum" is complete Grin

Tubbyinthehottub · 17/08/2016 15:06

Have you never heard of google either? Hmm

EmpressTomatoKetchup · 17/08/2016 15:07

It seems very kate Middleton to me.

Yes. The clothes are fairly MOR. I find thier styling off putting. Just a bit aggressively affluent white middle class. Makes me want to run to the nearest sports direct and buy a tracksuit.

DianaT1969 · 17/08/2016 15:13

I hadn't heard of it before I joined MN either.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 17/08/2016 15:17

You're not too young Confused I had loads of Mini Boden stuff as a kid (I'm 26).
