I think Jamie Bells ears are bigger! And DSs hair is lighter (though he is sporting a 1980s barnet!), and his jaw a teeny bit widea, but he looks a bit like him in the pics of JB aged about 18 which I am incapable of linking to

Scuppered on sundowner front as it is raining Sad Though still hot Wink However no we get to try the huge complimentary umbrellas! Not sure how we'll fit them down the street with the mad traffic/pedestrians Grin

So sorry Strops.

Also agree re looking at clearing.

bigTillyMint · 18/08/2016 09:39

Well done chez Rudy!

Stropps, is she in the right frame of mind for clearing? Or maybe a gap year might be the answer Confused Maybe school can give some advice?

So sorry, Stropps, and understand your worries. I hope she will talk to you, and others Flowers.

Rudy, that's great, well done both. Uni choices seem increasingly random to me!

Stropps, so bloody sorry about dd. FE college part time ( to repeat A levels or do a foundation course of some kind) plus part time job? She has been doing so well Stropps. Tell her there is no reason to decide that that stops today. There are options. All my love to you, as I know the prospect of what might happen is terrifying.Flowers

Rudy,and Molly., terrific results!! Brilliant.

MI , you'll be glad to get home I thinkGrin

Lalsy · 18/08/2016 10:08

ds just phoned, all fine if baffling (individual module scores, not overall grade per subject). Phew.

Wise words, Crem.

bigTillyMint · 18/08/2016 10:15

Yes, wise words Cremo.

And well done to DS, Lalsy.

Rudy, is he happy?! Going to a uni he has never visited Grin

Well done to all dcs who have done well. Dd hasn't done well enough for clearing. She has done worse than her worst prognostications. And has no idea what to do now. The combination of this with the other big problem she has at the moment means that we are both in tears and have absolutely no clue about what to do. She needs to be at an important medical appointment in 45 mins and I am not sure I can get her there. Dear God, I feel as though I have failed at everything myself with the mess she is currently in. She refuses to consider FE college ( difficult here anyway) and feels as though her world has ended. Am having hard time knowing what to do or say.

hattymattie · 18/08/2016 11:20

Great news for the mini Molly and Rudy's. Congratulations.

Stropps - listen to Crem - we have a very good friend flunked out on her A's completely but is now doing very well on an Access course having put her teenage angst behind her. (she is 19).

Stropps - sorry for x post. It will get betterFlowers

Rosebag · 18/08/2016 12:40

stropps I send my love and I'm so sorry. But there are always options. She mustn't close her mind to them. Let the dust settle. Xxxxx

Fab news molly rudy lalsy

Ok....the boy did good. Smile

Lalsy · 18/08/2016 13:20

Stropps, I am glad you are together and she hasn't charged off anywhere. She showed such strength getting into all the sodding things, given how much school she had missed, it must feel crushing now, but that strength and courage is still there and she has you at her side. Few people can think options through clearly when they have been punched in the guts but there will be options. Bear hugs to you both.Flowers.

Rose, great stuff.

bigTillyMint · 18/08/2016 13:24

Well done Rose's DS.

DD got decent AS grades, though very disappointed with a lower grade in Eco when she has been doing best at it this year, and would have liked a better grade in Psych because she felt she worked hard for it.

Good advice from all Crepies for your DD StroppsFlowers

Stropps, echoing what everyone else has said. We are all here.

herbaceous · 18/08/2016 13:59

Oh hell's bells Stropps. This is not what I had been hoping for. Nothing to add to the wise words of the other crepes, but agree that uni isn't everything, and not necessarily the right thing in the first place for many. I'm sure she'll find her niche, which always have a wobble on the way in!

Hearty congrats to mini-crepes who got their desired results. And Wineall round to you all.

We are in first class en route to Durham on first leg of Northumbria jaunt. Free food! Free booze! Supposedly free wifi. But it doesn't seem to work.

Mum now out of hospital. New carer installed, relief carers on standby. Feature filed. I have told people I won't have email for the next week. This is a small lie. Thank you again for hand-holding, hair-stroking and psyche-soothing.

Blackduck · 18/08/2016 14:46

Stropps so very very sorry :(

Congrats others.

Here administrators son didn't do very well but was determined to go to uni (was having a year out) and found a place on clearing, his mum is Shock

herbaceous · 18/08/2016 15:03

In premier inn. Do asleep on bed after too much free beer on train. WIBU to take DS out and actually see this city, that DP said he wanted to see too?

bigTillyMint · 18/08/2016 15:04

Well done Herbs! And lovely Northumberland - enjoy.

OP posts:
Collymollypuff · 18/08/2016 15:09

Stropps, so sorry; I hope you are both OK. As some crepeys know, one of my other dc [deliberately vague] has been on a very chequered path (but is coping well with triumphant dd's celebration today) - what we have to keep saying to that dc is that there is plenty of time for them to find their own path. The relentless treadmill is not for everyone. Taking time out is good, too. God knows I have to keep telling myself all that as well, however, as it is so counter-cultural.
