I think Jamie Bells ears are bigger! And DSs hair is lighter (though he is sporting a 1980s barnet!), and his jaw a teeny bit widea, but he looks a bit like him in the pics of JB aged about 18 which I am incapable of linking to

Scuppered on sundowner front as it is raining Sad Though still hot Wink However no we get to try the huge complimentary umbrellas! Not sure how we'll fit them down the street with the mad traffic/pedestrians Grin

Oh gosh Rudy, what a traumatic time you are all having. 5 hours is such a long time, but really glad to hear he is doing OK. I hope you are able to get a little bit of rest xxx Flowers

Oh Rudy. We are all rooting for you and DS. Flowers and hugs xx

I am all alone this evening as DH not back yet, and DS and DD2 are out. I've decided I'm not very good at being by myself. I want to be alone when they are all there and think of all the things I could do and then I don't do them and just feel well... lonely. Weird - I'd better get used to it with DD2 flying the next soon.

florascotianew · 01/09/2016 19:00

More trivia. DCat brought in dead WEASEL. So delicate and tiny and pretty - like a mini pine marten , with which we are overrun. ...

MontserratCaballe · 01/09/2016 19:00

Gosh, Rudy, you must all be shattered. Glad DS is doing OK. Try to rest a bit, even if you can't sleep - watch rubbish TV, have a bath etc. We are all with you and sending love and strength.

Crem, glad your DDad has had his surgery and wishing him the best of recoveries. I hope you can get some sleep as well.

Rose, am going to look at your haul now.

LillianGish · 01/09/2016 19:03

Excuse me butting in, I never post on this thread but always chuckle at your thread titles. Was catching a train out of Paris at the weekend when I noticed the destination Crepy-sur-Oise on the destinations board - couldn't stop stop laughing and it was impossible to explain the joke to DH. As you were ...

MontserratCaballe · 01/09/2016 19:05

Rose, what amazing dresses! Love them all, esp the floral one. The purple one is very sultry as well. Are these to wear on Saturday possibly? Let us know which one / ones you decide to keep.

Lilian, hello, and thank you for some cheer!

Lovely dresses Rose, especially the blue one.

In inconsequential chat, I had a marvellous time today vacuuming spiders up. Who knew?

herbaceous · 01/09/2016 19:25

I love those frocks, too. First one is my fave. Feel well jell that you a) have any call for nice frocks, and b) can buy anything. I really had to steel myself to buy a new £18 handbag from Clarks on holiday when mine fell to pieces. Boo hoo poor me.

Fun task for you crepeys, esp Rudy (light relief). We have a 50th birthday party coming up, and the theme is 'the 60s'. I don't really want to do down the mini-skirt or hippy angle, but want to do something more fun. I thought as there are four of us we could go as the Beatles (esp as we all look very different), or DP could go as Harold McMillan, or we could go as Peters and Lee. Or in beatnik black roll-necks and a copy of Satre.

MontserratCaballe · 01/09/2016 19:28

Today I've painted a chest of drawers with Annie Sloan paint - they are now grey rather than a nasty dark brown and look much better. Dd2 helped which means there are drips and smudges but it'll do. Dd1 has been out on the recumbent bikes in Dulwich park. We did a dry run on the bus to syd this morning and need to leave a bit earlier but dd1 now confident about the journey I think.

Dh gone out, kids watching bake off and I am browsing eBay with one eye on the tv. Might have a bit of box set action once they've gone to bed. Rock and roll.

MontserratCaballe · 01/09/2016 19:31

Herbs, the Beatles would be amazing! Would people recognise peters and lee? I think the Fab Four would be a better bet.

Rosebag · 01/09/2016 19:31

So are you joining us, Lillian? Smile

The purple one would suit you methinks, Rudy Smile

I am worried about the clingy shape of the hip of two of those dresses and it's not a brand I have ever tried on...Hmm but I'd be pleased with any one out of the three, and yes Monty I am in blind panic about Saturday night and am hoping this might solve the problem...

hattymattie · 01/09/2016 19:31

Love the dresses Rose - the blue one so much I have sent the link to DD1.

P1nkP0ppy · 01/09/2016 19:33

Delurking to say I do hope Crem's DDad and Rudy's DS get better quickly, fingers crossed and 💐🍫🍷to you both.

On the inconsequential chat side DH and I have shovelled two tons of soil out of a no longer desired raised veg bed only to unearth a grass snake and young. The bed had become a slug & snail breeding ground, yuck.

DH has never run so fast and I fear it might have deterred him from helping me in future, buggerations 😟. Needless to say muggins carefully removed them to edge of woods at the bottom of the garden.

Rosebag · 01/09/2016 19:36

Herbs it's all on the plastic Blush ...hooray for The Beatles...didn't you have a very George Harrison 'tache that I remember seeing you wearing, on fb?

Lalsy we're getting towards giant- spiders- scurrying- across- the- carpet- season, aren't we...? Shock

herbaceous · 01/09/2016 19:45

I do have a moustache (fancy dress, and in real life). I was thinking we could go in the 'mop top' years, in identical dark suits and ties, with matching wigs and inflatable guitars. Paul's pointing the other way, natch.

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 01/09/2016 19:45

I love those dresses, Rose. Just wish I had a semblance of a waistline and a party to go to.

Oh Rudy, 5 hours is shitty and again tomorrow.... Lots of Flowers for a long night ahead. Well done Crem's dad and good luck for the long haul. I would go and snooze with Rattigan. It will take your mind off it.

We're back. Traffic is so bad following a massive accident near Gatwick that ds, dd2 and I are heading home on the train, leaving dh and dd1 to deal with car, traffic and luggage Grin

Hello and welcome to all emerging lurkers. Do stay... We're very friendly!

bigTillyMint · 01/09/2016 20:06

I like the dresses too Rose, particularly the flowery one!

The fab four sounds like a fab idea Herbs - lookung forward to the fb pics already!

Beachy, what a pain on the last leg of the journey.

Hello lurkers/newbies Smile

In inconsequential news, I have just mended a rip in a sunlounger cushion Grin

OP posts:
Rosebag · 01/09/2016 20:28

Beachy it's because I have got a waist, that the big hip problem has always been there....nothing ever fits on the waist and the hips... That was a smart move going on the train! Grin Welcome home.

motherinferior · 01/09/2016 20:33

Am still boggling at weasel. And snakes...

CointreauVersial · 01/09/2016 20:54

Crem - thank goodness DDad has been glued together and is on the road to recovery. You sound like you need a rest.

Rudy - have thought about you all day. I hope tomorrow goes well, and you're coping OK. Being the owner of a similar-aged DS, I can only imagine how you must be feeling.

Hello lurkers, do stay!

Welcome back, Beachy. Traffic round here was shocking today - now I know why.

By the way, I have not inconsequential (consequential?) news - my promotion was confirmed. Yay for me! Wine As of today, I am now working full time, with considerably more pay, and the word "Manager" has made it back into my job title after 16 years absence. I have printed off three copies of the bus timetables for the DCs Grin

Lalsy · 01/09/2016 20:55

BTM, you and I have been living the inconsequential dream today, eh? I may sort my knicker drawer now.

Flora, ds encountered a pine marten running around in the dark scaring them silly in a bothy on his recent walking trip to Scotland.

Snakes, Poppy - urgh.

Lalsy · 01/09/2016 20:56

Yay!! CV rules!
