I think Jamie Bells ears are bigger! And DSs hair is lighter (though he is sporting a 1980s barnet!), and his jaw a teeny bit widea, but he looks a bit like him in the pics of JB aged about 18 which I am incapable of linking to

Scuppered on sundowner front as it is raining Sad Though still hot Wink However no we get to try the huge complimentary umbrellas! Not sure how we'll fit them down the street with the mad traffic/pedestrians Grin

Oh Rudy. Fingers crossed that the news when it comes is positive. Agree re hospital time - either very slow or very fast....

Cremolafoam · 31/08/2016 10:01

oh Rudy . Wishing you and your ds the very best today.Flowers

motherinferior · 31/08/2016 10:08

Sickbeds generally, I'd add.

Cremolafoam · 31/08/2016 10:30

oh thanks for the heads up about the Reykjavik article. Brilliant Flowers

having a shit day at work. ironically dealing with complaints this morning. Taking notes from them though. Grin

florascotianew · 31/08/2016 10:38

Rudy - all kind thought and good wishes. Agree with BTM and MI, hospitals are indeed another world. Even if medical people are kind and efficient, one feels so powerless. When that's combined with the overwhelming wish to protect loved ones who are patients, it's extraordinarily stressful and disturbing.
Crem - the way they've treated your father is outrageous. I hope he's as comfortable as possible. All power to your complaint.

herbaceous · 31/08/2016 10:44

Bloody hell Rudy and Crem. This week just keeps on giving, doesn't it.

I am holding my end up on the 'inconsequential chat' front with Rudy on FB, about the disappointment of my steam cleaner in the bathroom.

Shortly to embark on another marathon with DS, undertaking the 'BFG dream jar' trail. Well, not all of it. It will take in such delights as Buck House, Big Ben, Westminster and London Bridge stations (of great interest, natch), City Hall and as much of the City as I can muster after all that.

wordassociationfootball · 31/08/2016 10:44

Rudy, I'm so, so sorry he's in pain Sad

Wrote a long post yesterday then nudged keyboard with new ergonomic mouse and it disappeared. What with having decided I'm not really a facebook person and my phone throwing out my (impossible to remember) MN password the whole time, I feel like I'm looking through the window at you all Smile

Beachy hope your birthday signals a lovely year Flowers

wordassociationfootball · 31/08/2016 11:15

And ddad situation Crem, utterly horrible, sad and awful.

magimedi · 31/08/2016 11:17

Thinking of you, Rudy & Crem.

Rosebag · 31/08/2016 12:27

Checking in to see how if any progress re rudys DS and also crem DDad. In my mind all of the time. Flowers xx

Having spent more than my fair share of time in hospital, I agree...for me time seems to condense in on itself and there just seems to be day and night but none of the usual routine markers.

And to add to inconsequential chat....I have a silver wedding anniversary of friends to attend this weekend. I am dreading it because of all the results chat... But the silly dress code says " dress to party". At a bat/barmitzvah this means evening wear, cleavage, sparkle and bling. But I don't want to stand out. Dilemma is, in summer in a short cocktail dress. I have shapely but scarred legs and like to cover them but all my long dresses are too OTT. Any ideas, Crepeys?

Rosebag · 31/08/2016 12:29

Roll on a time...I luffs black opaques...

Rosebag · 31/08/2016 12:29

Roll on Autumn....bloody autocorrect

MontserratCaballe · 31/08/2016 12:49

Rose, could you wear fishnets to give you coverage but allow you to remain cool? Either black or flesh, depending on the dress. Or a maxi dress to remain summery - you could have cleavage at the top and just a sandalled foot peeping out of the bottom.

Still thinking of you, Rudy and Crem X

GiddyGiddyGoat · 31/08/2016 13:31

What colour knee length dress Rose? Another enthusiastic vote for nude / black fishnets from me - Wolford 'Twenties' are fab micro nets if you're feeling flush. Otherwise M and S do surprisingly good ones (may need to order online to collect in your local one...).

Aside from inconsequential natter anything at all we can do for you Rudy? X

Cremolafoam · 31/08/2016 14:42

Rose thats a tough one, but id aim for comfort and just add sparkly details. A little black sundress (midi or maxi) plus sandals and bling?

Dad has a slot for tomorrow. He is a real crosspatch today and full of classic snipey comments. You have to laugh or else you'd weep. Seriously filthy ward. I know its not fair to blame the nursing staff but the system is appalling. The nurses are literally drowned under the paperwork,Nobody gives you the time of day. All heads down ignoring everything. Awful.
Rudy i hope things are fairing better over there.

Lalsy · 31/08/2016 15:35

Crem, that is so wrong. Your poor old dad.

In inconsequential chat, I have discovered what sort of bra I like. Underwired balconette. I have never understood bra nomenclature and now feel like a proper grown up, ready to tackle......damp in living room perhaps?

bigTillyMint · 31/08/2016 16:19

Rose, I agree with the others - knee length with fishnets or summer dress type maxi - something you can dance in?!

Cremo, crossing everything for tomorrow - ir sounds grim for your poor DDad.

Lalsy Grin

Just caught up on First Dates, with someone I know on it!!!

herbaceous · 31/08/2016 16:32

Ooh. Was it the lovely teacher who ended up with the dishy silver fox?

bigTillyMint · 31/08/2016 16:51

You win the prize Herbs! DH always thought she was fit Grin

motherinferior · 31/08/2016 16:51

Oooh yes, in bra news - those bras Herbs likes are called Spacer bras and are available in larger cup sizes - at HUGE expense - elsewhere. Bravissimo has just started doing the Freya Muse, v airy for the bosoms, apparently.

magimedi · 31/08/2016 16:54

That Freya Muse looks lovely.

I am very tempted.

motherinferior · 31/08/2016 17:02

The filth will be because the cleaning is now contracted out and the firm which won the contract will have offered a good price because it employs people on zero hours contracts/sub-minimum wage to do an unfeasible amount of work, probably after already doing a shift somewhere else in the attempt to make ends meet...AngryAngry
