I think Jamie Bells ears are bigger! And DSs hair is lighter (though he is sporting a 1980s barnet!), and his jaw a teeny bit widea, but he looks a bit like him in the pics of JB aged about 18 which I am incapable of linking to

Scuppered on sundowner front as it is raining Sad Though still hot Wink However no we get to try the huge complimentary umbrellas! Not sure how we'll fit them down the street with the mad traffic/pedestrians Grin

Your poor DDad Cremo Sad

herbaceous · 30/08/2016 12:02

That's outrageous re dad, cremo. You have every right to be furious, and to start shouting. Do you know the right person at whom to shout? The ward sisters always seem a good starting point.

Re chair, sis has vast six-bedroom mansion with acres of space, yet claims no room for chair. She does already have the family grand piano, however!

Lalsy · 30/08/2016 12:08

Cremo, how awful. I would be furious too.

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/08/2016 12:10

Crem, that is appalling. Your poor DDad.

No, pudding last! Got a bit carried away, sorry!

Crem I'd be livid.

Herbs I had two armchairs that I'd known since I was a child. They were beyond repair & really had to go. I cut off some of the fabric frfom them 7 made them into cushions (well, DDIL did) so I feel I still have part of them.

Cremolafoam · 30/08/2016 12:29

Grin 'Mrs S.

Am going to phone the Trust ComplaintsLine to see if I can put a rocket under them. Going to quote NICE guidelines back at them, direct from their website. Ho yes.

bigTillyMint · 30/08/2016 12:38

Go Cremo!

OP posts:
herbaceous · 30/08/2016 12:55

Go cremo! < waves NHS pompoms>

Said armchair is in very good nick. Springs fine, cover fine. Though said cover is dark brown dralon with a pinstripe. It will be the height of fashion in a year's time, you mark my words.

New fridge freezer has been delivered, you will all no doubt be relieved to know. By a very nice young man...

hattymattie · 30/08/2016 13:16

Crem - hope you get things resolved with DDad - the situation sounds atrocious.

Rudy - sending hugs.

Herbs - keep chair - nice throw maybe if you dont want to recover it.

I couldnt sleep at all last night so went into work knackered. Hope I get my rhythm back soon.

Blackduck · 30/08/2016 13:27

Cremo good luck re ddad.

I have my Grwat Aunts three piece - Art Deco stylee... Sofa needs re springing. I am reluctant to get rid...

Collymollypuff · 30/08/2016 13:46

Haha, I have all MIL's classy Ercol, and I love it. Grin

herbaceous · 30/08/2016 13:57

I have an idea. Another inherited bit of furniture is an antique singer sewing machine in its massive case. I've never used it, and it's never displayed. Just acts as a stand for the stereo. Oddly I'm far less attached to that, so could sell that and out chair in its place.

motherinferior · 30/08/2016 14:24

Cremo, I too am livid about the fracture and have an awful feeling they're just not making him a priority precisely because of his age.

Cremolafoam · 30/08/2016 15:11

And so , Dad finally told this afternoon that he was to be taken down to surgery. They took him down at lunchtime. Mum raced over to hospital and spoke to the anesthetist , who said everything was fine.
Poor dad, on a trolley in a corridor awaiting op. Mum on a chair in waiting room. Suddenly she sees Dad on the trolley bed coming back past her. she has just found out now that some nurse gave dad a blood thinning pill this morning so they cancelled the surgery. Dad in tears. Mum in pieces. 48 ours now to wait again, which will be day 6 with a shattered hip, black and blue all over. I am [furious] Angry
Dad doesn't even take blood thinning tablets. I need to do something.

Cremolafoam · 30/08/2016 15:16

Oh, and the Trust said as I am not the patient I need his written permission to complain ohb. for fucks sake.

oh Rudy pet you have enough on your plate.

I have elicited a side ward for Papa from the admonished Sister. Dmum is mortified by my bosom hoiking. dd is also joining in general hoitiness.

bigTillyMint · 30/08/2016 16:10

Cremo that's TERRIBLE. But we'll done you on getting him moved. Sadly I was thinking exactly what MI said. What a mess Sad

OP posts:
Blackduck · 30/08/2016 16:15

Oh god Cremo :(. I feel for you. Really really not good enough....

herbaceous · 30/08/2016 16:43

Bloody hell Crem. What total fuckwit gave him a blood-thinning tablet? There's no excuse for that kind of mistake. Continue to kick up a stink.

I have a small boy round to play. I pumped up and filled the paddling pool - they're both inside watching cartoons and jumping on the settees.

bigTillyMint · 30/08/2016 16:45

Send them out Herbs WinkGrin

OP posts:
herbaceous · 30/08/2016 16:52

I have suggested the PP a number of times. Problem is, friend has a much bigger and better one at home - almost a swimming pool. I might go out there myself and cool my swollen ankles.

motherinferior · 30/08/2016 18:30

Whinge alert: I am having one of those dreadful phases of hot flushes and no sleep. Feeling v sorry for self especially as this is compounded by quite nasty IBS. Knackered and virtually immobile today. Must get out for a Ladyjog tomorrow!

In less self-pitying news the rewrite is going well.Smile

Crem/Rudy, all strength to you.

hattymattie · 30/08/2016 19:35

MI - have been the same - it's so shitty not sleeping. May go for the Nightal this evening as have been in similar zombie mode. Try to do lots of sport so I fall asleep - sometimes this doesn't even work (like last week after a 5 hour hike up a mountain).

Crem - what a series of cock ups for your poor Dad and horrible for your motther and you. So humiliating as well being left waiting on a trolley with no information.

Rudy - hope you're bearing up.
