I think Jamie Bells ears are bigger! And DSs hair is lighter (though he is sporting a 1980s barnet!), and his jaw a teeny bit widea, but he looks a bit like him in the pics of JB aged about 18 which I am incapable of linking to

Scuppered on sundowner front as it is raining Sad Though still hot Wink However no we get to try the huge complimentary umbrellas! Not sure how we'll fit them down the street with the mad traffic/pedestrians Grin

As everyone has said - we are here and anything we can do....

bigTillyMint · 30/08/2016 09:00

Oh Rudy Sad for your DC, especially your DD. Mine would be in bits if it was her DB. How great that you are all together and a strong family unit to support your DS and each other xxx

OP posts:
Lalsy · 30/08/2016 09:01

Yes, anything, even if you just need some dvds to while away the hours.....Glad you can get some practical things done today, I hope it makes the time pass a little faster.

S London crepeys - did someone recommend either on here or on FB a garden person? When I say garden, I actually mean small patch of rubble and weeds.

Monty, me too. I need to get cracking - cannot decide which mountain of chores and work to tackle first. About to wave dd off on her last adventure of the summer - near where you were Hatty, with friends.

MontserratCaballe · 30/08/2016 09:39

Last - is it garden design you need or a general tidy? If the former, I highly recommend my pal Terka who did mine (pics on FB if you want a look). It was shocking b beforehand but now I love it. If the latter, I have a man who can Wink who is v reasonable and delightful to work with. Let me know what you need and I will pm you the numbers.

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 30/08/2016 09:44

I had the coolest dream last night. I had a grandchild, sex in determinant, and the opposing granny was Mrs S Grin we had a huge good natured argument about which of us was to be known as Granny. Im assuming it was one of your dd's and my ds, but it wasn't clear. Baby was super fat and cute! Mrs S didn't look like Mrs S, but it was her IYKWIM.... My dmum was there, which was lovely, as I've only dreamt about her about three times since she died. She looked great. A lady from the village was there with her girls and we were organising a big party in a rented house! Quite confusing but nice to have.

It's my birthday today FlowersWine but dh also has his on this holiday, so we're ignoring them and we will celebrate 'at our convenience'...

Lalsy · 30/08/2016 09:52

Beachy Grin. And vv happy birthday to you!

Monty, thank you! Not sure - am hopeless - it doesn't have a design at all but we probably want it paving and the fence redoing. Maybe with a few shrubs that don't grow fast or anything annoying like that.

motherinferior · 30/08/2016 09:54

Monty recommended me a really rather gorgeous plumberWink

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/08/2016 09:58

I'll let you be known as Granny, Beachy! Grin

I am lying in bed, drinking tea, before venturing forth. I can really recommend this cottage. It is like having your own little boutique hotel.

bigTillyMint · 30/08/2016 10:02

Ooh MrsS bootique cottage in Margate - will have to get the deets!

Happy Birthday granny Beachy!

Lalsy we had a fab landscape gardener and my friend used him too if Montys is busy. We actually have quite a few niggly building/house/gardening jobs to sort which I must get into a list and find someone to do as DH won't have time now with his VIJGrin

OP posts:
herbaceous · 30/08/2016 10:23

Mrs S - I'm off to Margs next Monday and Tuesday with a chum, but staying in the Premier Inn. Hit me with some top tips! We're planning beach, arcades, Dreamland, Tate, and that nice restaurant with the terrace overlooking the beach. Any other great things to do?

Crepeys, I have a very small and insignificant-in-the-scheme-of-things dilemma. I have an armchair, which is the last remaining piece of a 1970s three-piece suite my parents bought after a house fire that destroyed all our possessions. The suite saw me through our teenage years, it then lived in my parents' rental cottage, then my shared house, and then my flat. The settee and other chair had to go, as they're massive. But I've insisted on holding on to the chair for sentimental reasons. It is vast and square, and brown. But I love it. But DP wants to get rid, as there's no space for it. He's right, on a practical level but I'm having sentimental pangs. It had been squeezed into DS's room, but I have to admit it looks better without it...

Continue to think positive thoughts in a rudy direction.

motherinferior · 30/08/2016 10:26

BTM I have a local Bloke who does HandyBloking.

Lalsy · 30/08/2016 10:46

Could we swap these recommendations? Think we four all on FB, could do as group msg? My handyblokes seem to have fizzled out.

Collymollypuff · 30/08/2016 10:50

Count me in, please, Lalsy. I'm on FB.

Thinking of you, Rudy. Thanks

Herbs, my instinct is: ditch the chair. Take a photo of it first.

Collymollypuff · 30/08/2016 10:51

Feck, now I'm having doubts re the chair. Confused Consult other crepeys, Herbs.

bigTillyMint · 30/08/2016 10:53

Herbs, in the words of the song, "Let it go!" It will still be in your heart.

Handybloke sounds interesting MIWink!

Yes, that sounds like a good plan Lalsy.

I sm sunbathing in the garden much to DH's amusement.

OP posts:
Lalsy · 30/08/2016 10:59

BTM, why? Are you standing on your head or something Grin?

herbaceous · 30/08/2016 11:01

It is ridic, isn't it. I sat in it yesterday, and could remember happy times and my nanna balancing a small sherry on its square arm. Must be the parental sitch making me ultra sentimental. If I can't let go of a chair, how am I going to move to Northumberland?

Lalsy · 30/08/2016 11:04

Herbs, I have hung on to stuff. No explanation needed. Don't move!

motherinferior · 30/08/2016 11:13

Get it recovered and keep it.

We have numerous chairs DP won't ditch AngryAngryAngry and approximately a million books I won't...

bigTillyMint · 30/08/2016 11:34

Herbs, I think you need another visit up there in Jan/Feb to compare weather sitchWink

That bloody dog next door has been barking since 10am. Must be locked in the kitchen. It is not making foe a relaxing time in the garden Angry

OP posts:
Cremolafoam · 30/08/2016 11:43

agree MI , keep and re-cover, Herbs or pass on to sibling. We have agreed that all heirloom no matter how dodgy furniture should stay within the family somehow, Hence dmum's garage being full of shit. my lovely 1950's 3 piece suite is in dsis' conservatory. Grin

Rudy virtual hugs, and many of them.

Mrs S do you want your pudding first then?

GGG thanks for asking re Pater. Still nothing, not on list for today. AngryPossibly tomorrow. Am trying not to get furious, but I am furious. He has now been in one position for nearly 4 days. He can't be moved due to nature of fracture. horrifically uncomfortable. He can only tolerate it because he is morphined up. All seems grim to me.

Cremolafoam · 30/08/2016 11:44

Och Beachy HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!
