I think Jamie Bells ears are bigger! And DSs hair is lighter (though he is sporting a 1980s barnet!), and his jaw a teeny bit widea, but he looks a bit like him in the pics of JB aged about 18 which I am incapable of linking to

Scuppered on sundowner front as it is raining Sad Though still hot Wink However no we get to try the huge complimentary umbrellas! Not sure how we'll fit them down the street with the mad traffic/pedestrians Grin

Is the treatment to break up the clot and/or tackle bleeding that is causing it?

wordassociationfootball · 28/08/2016 09:20

Oh gosh Rudy, how horribly stressful. Thinking of you lots. Brew Brew Brew

wordassociationfootball · 28/08/2016 09:21

GGG sorry to forget your previous illustrious career and thanks for the advice.

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/08/2016 09:23

Just up and wanted to see if any news. Sending good vibes, and thinking of you all, Rudy.

NUFC69 · 28/08/2016 10:29

Rudy, thanks for the updates when you have so much on your mind. Love to you all. I hope DS had a better night. Flowers

Cremolafoam · 28/08/2016 11:29

Oh Rudy, I am thinking of you and family. How grim for you all. I have everything crossed that ds responds well today. SadFlowers

Ddad, so out of it in morphine last night he was talking rubbish unfortunately. Not on today's list for surgery either, and of course tomorrow is a bank holiday. I have read that the earlier the surgery for hip fractures the better, so am feeling a bit stressed that he is lying there in agony indefinitely. Dmum, who lives in cloud cuckoo land has rebooked the ferry to France for 18th September ( planning on ddad being ready to come tooHmm) I'll have to have a quiet word about rehabilitation.

hattymattie · 28/08/2016 11:37

Gosh Rudy - have been travelling for 48 hours and have only updated this morning. Just to say my thoughts are with you and good to know DS is now getting the best possible treatment.

Love also to Crem and her dear old Dad.xx

We had a hellish journey down the M6 on Friday. Stopped off in Milton Keynes overnight and relatively easy trip to the tunnel yesterday, missing the collapsed bridge and M20 closure by one hour. I absolutely loved Keswick amd Borrowdale, simply gorgeous.

Rudy - do try and get some rest xx

bigTillyMint · 28/08/2016 11:37

Oh dear Cremo Shock

When DH's (late) aunt broke her hip at the age of 97 it took 6 weeks for her to get a decent degree of mobility back. I'm not saying that to depress you, Crem, just to give you an idea of the times involved.

florascotianew · 28/08/2016 11:51

Flowers Flowers and all possible good wishes for Rudy and for Cremo.

motherinferior · 28/08/2016 12:00

Cremo, agree totally with MM: are they replacing the hip?

motherinferior · 28/08/2016 12:01

But more to the point, no, 18 Sept WILL NOT WORK!

GiddyGiddyGoat · 28/08/2016 13:37

Also sending love and good wishes to you Rudy. You, your ds and all your family are in my thoughts. X

Cremolafoam · 28/08/2016 15:09

No, i do know that. Just mother is so unrealistic its off the scale. I am aware of recovery times as he's had the other hip done. Mum cant accept that he is ageing , never mind the fact that he now has a broken leg/hip.
It will take her time to come to terms.
Shes always in such a hurry. I have no idea how I became the voice of reason in my family. (Dsis mildly hysterical for some reason)ConfusedGrin

Have been out for a two mile Ladyfastwalk and gathered blackberries en route. Most therapeutic.

bigTillyMint · 28/08/2016 15:37

Envy of the blackberries Cremo - none round here!

Hope all is calm at the hospital Rudy x

We are meeting some old friends from Paris in less than an hour and am already quite pissed. Oh dear. On the plus side, DH and I have stopped arguing and are on an even keel. More plus side, have not contacted That Colleague since big night out.

Lalsy · 28/08/2016 16:26

Oh yes there are, BTM. Dulwich park, woods, Belair, Green chain walk......

MrsS, well done. Is that the seaside effect?

Crem, what a worry.

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/08/2016 16:44

I think more the alcohol effect, Lalsy. But quite pleased with myself on all counts.

Rosebag · 28/08/2016 17:46

crem I guess you just have to keep repeating to your DM what is a reasonable timescale for your DDads recovery and get back up from the medics and physios. Flowers what a shame and awful timing.

Hoping to hear some more news from Rudy soon. And let it be good news.

I am resting quietly at the flat, having seen DH and DD onto the train home. We have had a nice few days, and yesterday, a long ( and sweaty it must be said) hike amongst harvested fields and a delicious lunch on the harbour. Then a mooch around the village food fest, and I bought some wonderful olive jam (yes! ) and other delicious chutney. Ended up on the seafront for a cuppa before walking back for a movie and sampling our chutneys with local cheese and biscuits. Wish every day could be like that. Ah well.

bigTillyMint · 28/08/2016 18:06

MrsS, is it just the two of you? Wink

Lalsy, I need you to take me on a blackberrying foray!

DH and I have had a lovely few days sans jeunes. AIBU to wish I wasn't picking DD and her mates up tomorrow morning?!
