I think Jamie Bells ears are bigger! And DSs hair is lighter (though he is sporting a 1980s barnet!), and his jaw a teeny bit widea, but he looks a bit like him in the pics of JB aged about 18 which I am incapable of linking to

Scuppered on sundowner front as it is raining Sad Though still hot Wink However no we get to try the huge complimentary umbrellas! Not sure how we'll fit them down the street with the mad traffic/pedestrians Grin

Is it very wrong of me to long for a holiday without any of them? To be fair I've never had a holiday with just DP - no, we did have a week in Brussels (where he was living) when we'd been going out together for five months but I was dead knackered, for reasons it subsequently emerged of upduffery, and we had another week in Minorca when I was six months pregnant...but I think I am becoming keener on travel as I age and he, er, isn't. I suspect a holiday together would Expose Our Fundamental Incompatibility.

Rosebag · 23/08/2016 18:10

MI why do you think I go to the flat on my own sometimes? Plenty of people think I'm nuts, but I need my space. However on the very rare occasions that DH and I get away alone, we get on surprisingly well. Proving my theory that kids especially teens ruin your relationship.....and it it can survive that, it can survive anything Grin

btw...my (then) boss said she wasn't going to authorise any more of my annual leave because I always came back knocked up... Grin

bigTillyMint · 23/08/2016 18:29

I'm back and even more gappy than beforeConfused It was OK, but only because the dentist is so hot. DS insisted on accompanying DH and I (I had to have am escort) but the two of them couldn't manage the Uber app. Lucky black cabs lined up outside.

Cremo, I am so looking forward to your party but am not sure I will quite manage the glamorous dress code. I will try my best! Rudy, I'm sure we could have a pre party MU for those arriving early then I won't cate if I'm glam or not! Wink

I'm a bit sore too Sad

BTM - I have no glam clothes - I will probs be in smart black jeans and a nice top if that reassures you. I have warned Crem about the paucity of my wardrobe.

MI - go for it - it's nice to feel unfettered sometimes - even though we love the people holding us back.

Stropps - hope DD settles down and hope you make it over to Crems - would so much like to meet you.

motherinferior · 23/08/2016 19:11

I will as usual fall back on accessorising with cleavage in the absence of other glamourWink

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 23/08/2016 19:42

Is there something I need to do now that I didn't do last time re: hiring a car abroad? Confused

Mrs S GrinGrin

CointreauVersial · 23/08/2016 22:03

"Hot" dentist, BTM?? I assume you're referring to his professional capabilities?

Oh, to be a fly on the wall in MrsS's karaoke bar....

Crem - I was just looking at your invitation earlier and thinking about what to wear. Might be another outing for The Jumpsuit.

Amusing "family debate" this evening on the subject of Organ Donation (currently applying for DS's provisional licence, and it asks if you want to join the Register):

DS: Not sure if I want to say yes... I might need my organs after I die.
DD1: What? Are we living in Ancient Egypt? Are you imagining some sort of Afterlife?
DS: Well, the Ancient Egyptians were correct about a lot of things.
DD2: Umm....they believed that a giant beetle ate the sun every evening.
DS: .....OK, you have a point.
DH: I'm more worried that Mummy would switch off my life support early just to give away my organs.
Me: Organ donation would make no difference - what was that Life Insurance figure again? Wink

No sure if DS will sign up but it made me Grin anyway.

Cremolafoam · 23/08/2016 22:51

Oh you lot are all glamorous already Grin
If you want to wear jeans and a pair of sparkly earrings , who am I to tell you what to do? Please don't be worrying. As a guide I am wearing a silk dress which is actually quite covered up, tbh, but could do with an outing. There may be a pair of red heels, or not if leg playing up.
I haven't had a minute to even call the restaurant, but will do this week. More details such as menu etc as soon as I have it. Rudy , I don't have a plan, except I'll be at the air b & b so you ( and Hatty & Beachy) can dump your stuff if needed. So pleased there is a frisson of excitement. Stropps, please don't worry. Come if you can, again the dressing up or not, is for fun.SmileWink

On the subject of solo holidaying, why the heck do you think I like my jaunts to London? Grin You have to have some time to yourself, even if it's so you can look forward to going home. And no, MI it is not unreasonable if another adult can look after offspring without to much to do.

Molly I am going to Iceland! I have been looking at many pictures of lovely ponies. They do look gorgeous. But then, on a menu I read it said foal-burger, and I nearly wept. SadI surely didn't read that right did I. I know they like a bit of sheep eye and rotting shark

florascotianew · 23/08/2016 22:55

Just a quick check-in to say a heartfelt thank you for all the kind words of sympathy. They are greatly appreciated. At the moment I am feeling a mixture of pity, frustration, exasperation, guilt, grief and exhaustion. Am sure - sadly - that these will be familiar to many other Crepeys. Don't feel able to share details but again, many thanks for being a place (group? virtual entity?) where I can let off steam.

Cremolafoam · 23/08/2016 23:12

Flowers for Flora. Sleep well Crepeys.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 24/08/2016 00:04

Crem, steel yourself. They really do eat the lovely fluffy cute ponies in Iceland. my deice horrified the dc with tales of eating pony burger when holidaying in Iceland... (but presumably it wasn't compulsory!).

Much love Stropps and everything crossed that the fates will align and you'll be able to party with us at Crem's do.

Hmmm. Glamorous eh. Will need to give that a bit of thought... (Have gone distinctly feral on my hols by the seaside).

Dinner for 9 (IX, nine) was a big success. Lovely food and board games. Living the dream...

Lalsy · 24/08/2016 00:26

Flora, Flowers, and share as much or as little as you want/can.

BD, Yeo, managed this year not to be running while eating a urged though and cunningly lined up two shows in the same venue with cocktail shaped gap. Saw some brilliant stuff today. home tomorrow, to see what dd has done with the house.

MI, no definitely not, do it!

Crem I am really looking forward to your party. Will scrub up as best I can. Stropps, hope you can make it. I can imagine there is much going on and much to think of.....

Iceland - they don't have much choice f food (outside high enough restaurants). Whale and puffins feature too. We are a lot of lamb burgers from pwtrol stations......when are going Crem and what are ou going to do there? Top tip - buy a bottle of spirits on the way in!

Crossing everything for gcse-stricken families for Thursday.

Blackduck · 24/08/2016 07:21

Stropps big hug and go visit Auriga - she is a fabulous calming presence and full of wisdom (as are all the crepeys)
Cremo I am aware I haven't responded to invite... Can I say tenative yes - very dependent on dad at the moment. I don't do glamorous, so I'll aim for neat and tidy :)

addle · 24/08/2016 07:38

Good luck for tomorrow everyone affected

Crem v much looking forward to your bday. Will frame glamorous closer to the time

DD back safe and sound from Indonesia apart from a burnt and charred rucksack with several destroyed bits of clothing. phew. going to be hard for her to move from post-degree celebration and extended holiday to first time teaching but she's ready i think. just notting hill carnival to go

At work think the senior person inheriting my team really doesn't want to; she's sort of stopped talking to me/us. Has a lot on her plate but none the less, is worrying.

Mrs S, hope feeling better today

Addle, have I missed something? What happened to her rucksack?
She is doing a PGCE, isn't she? Full-on, but it'll be worth it - best job in the world (apart from high-end travel reviewer!) IMHO Smile

CVGrin at the banter!

Mouth is feeling rather weird inside (and looking very gappy) but not hurting thanks to giant horse-pills friend gave me. I am petrified of dislodging the blood clots or whatever and have only dared to drink water through a straw. I am supposed to have soft food and avoid physical exertion and it says no alcohol for 2 weeks (yeah, right!) And pills/mouthwash...

Rudy, sympathies. They don't give you a manual for older teens, do they?!

Blackduck · 24/08/2016 09:36

In Kent and it is scorching here... Am about to risk the hell that is Bluewater.... This may be a very BAD idea......

bigTillyMint · 24/08/2016 09:40

I bet Blue Water will be quiet today because of the sun. I have to go with DS next week when it WILL be he'll!

Blackduck · 24/08/2016 09:46

True BTM.......

magimedi · 24/08/2016 10:20

I think BTM is right - and it will be cool & air conditioned!

Cremolafoam · 24/08/2016 10:50

You lucky people getting sunnyness. It is the season of mists and drizzling fuitlessness here.Grin
Rudy, I have no plan for the Saturday afternoon, so it's all good. I am coming to London on the Friday anyway, so will have had time for noodling about beforehand. I have diy hair now, thanks to French Coiffeur who chopped it orf. So will just be chillin in the crib.Wink

Oh dear to horse, puffin, sheep eye, whale and rotting shark. It's not really going to be paradise for dsis, who is a vegetarian. Twas she who organised the trip as a birthday present for me( my sister is great)
So yes, end of September for 4 days. Will have car and will be seeking swimming holes ( I know about the nude showering) . She has it all planned and even has got in touch with colleague of BIL who will be taking us out in his jeep for the whole day. Am very excited, but one thing at a time. London first!

BD, enjoy your day. At least you can avail of air con if the place is mobbed.

Cremolafoam · 24/08/2016 10:52

Oh and congratulations GGG on the feeding of the five thousand. On your holiday. Saintliness Halo

motherinferior · 24/08/2016 11:09

Have just accompanied old friend to hospital appointment. She is the opposite of my mum and investigates so much she gets obsessed with minutiae...she's turned out to be fine but I felt secretly a bit sorry for the consultant, which must be a first!

Got home and found neither daughter had followed their father's instructions about dealing with the washing...
