I think Jamie Bells ears are bigger! And DSs hair is lighter (though he is sporting a 1980s barnet!), and his jaw a teeny bit widea, but he looks a bit like him in the pics of JB aged about 18 which I am incapable of linking to

Scuppered on sundowner front as it is raining Sad Though still hot Wink However no we get to try the huge complimentary umbrellas! Not sure how we'll fit them down the street with the mad traffic/pedestrians Grin

Rudy FlowersFlowers

Lalsy · 24/08/2016 11:54

Oh rudy Flowers.

Lalsy · 24/08/2016 12:05

Cream that sounds wonderful! We were with dc and went swimming whenever possible - even ta dared municipal pools had warm water, and often hot tubs with inflatable floating chessboards, and slides. Food in R is fine, can even get salad! We went along the south coat a bit, nothing terribly adventurous by Iceland standards but it does get remote very quickly. How lovely of your dsis!

Lalsy · 24/08/2016 12:06

Sorry about terrible phone typing. That should have said Crem of course

Blackduck · 24/08/2016 12:43

Oh Rudy :(. Was hoping just guppy Tim that meant being in a field in this heat was not an attractive proposition.

Blue water relatively quiet but horrified at the sight of my body in various mirrors and have downloaded C25K again and intend to do some exercise and get back on 5:2.

Rosebag · 24/08/2016 13:12

Oh dear Rudy Flowers Is it dehydration? Sunstroke? Hope they can sort out your DS quickly.

Tilly I think the blood clots are important so you don't get a dry socket, or something like that? If they're dislodged I think they just pack the socket with this special stuff...has happened to me. Painful but dealt with quickly. How much more treatment are you facing?

Agree with the others BD The mall is probably quiet and cool...although I don't fancy what the motorway's like getting there...

She'll rally Stropps. Mood swings....very wearing but you'll get her on that foundation course somehow!

Had brunch with DM today...she is in good form, and has planned trips wth her DBro and SisIL to Belgium to see her cousins, and is going for 3 weeks to the US in October to stay with DSis. She has become very self centred though and always brings the conversation back to herself even when she has actually asked about me or the DC. Is this to be expected, do you think?

My planned late August trip to the flat after dreaded results tomorrow is getting shorter and shorter Hmm DS can't come at all on account of this post results trip to Helsinki with a mate, and then his third driving test as soon as he gets back...and now DD says all her friends are going out for a post results picnic on bank hol Monday, so is opting to go back on the train with DH probably the night before. So Ill do the clearing up and come back, Tuesday. The plus side is it gives me the option to MU en route with Molly and any others who can easily get to favoured garden centre in SW London. Any takers?
Final class tonight of current course...but worried everyone will be too hot...trying and failing to keep the house cool.

Blackduck · 24/08/2016 13:29

Rose I will be near you from tomorrow if you fancy a meet?

Cremolafoam · 24/08/2016 15:01

Me too BD. (C25K, I mean) I am struggling with the running though, and seem to favour one leg, prob because I am nervous of it collapsing under me. I may have to return to fast walking for the sake of preservation. Do not want to end up hobbling.
Is there a walking version of couch to 5k! Do you know?

Cremolafoam · 24/08/2016 15:02

OMGShockBake Off on tonight ! Yay.Smile

Blackduck · 24/08/2016 15:08

Cremo - I have no idea re walking version, may be interpret the encouragement to 'run' loosely? :)

bigTillyMint · 24/08/2016 15:19

Yes Rose - I am petrified of dislodging the blood clots. So I am just drinking through a straw snd I am starving! It's part of implant treatment.

Re walking, I've nevery done C25K but yes to wslking instead of running. Build up slowly and carefully if you're frightened of injury.

I am ROFLing at a thread where someone with toddlers is complaining about teenagers sitting on her garden wall. Quite harmlessly just, you know, taking up space and apparently her kids are a bit scared because these are 'big'. Actually I'm also quite cross. Poor teenage buggers.

Glad to hear he is OK Rudy - shame he has to miss out.

Preparations are occurring here...

Phew, Rudy.

I must go and make dinner. Undemanding as it is (chicken stock made by DP a while back, as the basis of noodle soup) I don't feel like it. But Bakeoff looms!!!!!!

Lalsy · 24/08/2016 19:20

Glad to hear it, Rudy. Hope all the family get a good sleep.

Yep, may even have to learn how to switch tv on.

NUFC69 · 24/08/2016 19:24

Glad to hear that you're home, Rudy. I hope you have a settled evening. Thanks for the info re driving licence, points and hire cars, CV. DH says he thought that that would be the case, but has decided to have a look at the DVLA website just before we travel.

BTM, your mouth sounds very sore. We went to the dentist on Monday, too, and I was hoping to start the process to get my migrating crown replaced; however the dentist said I should wait until I have my knee replaced in the new year as he has had so many people come in with broken crowns after an operation.

Crem's party sounds lovely - perhaps MI could email me some photos afterwards as I am not on FB? Stropps, I hope you manage to get there and DD calms down a bit. MrsS, have you got over your embarrassment of the other night?

We have had a lovely couple of days: the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness doesn't appear to have arrived here yet (isn't Herbs lucky?) and we spent most of yesterday at Seaton Delaval Hall, enjoying the gardens, ending up at Blyth beach where there is great excitement because the Tall Ships Regatta sails from there over the BH weekend. Today we joined some friends at MPW in Newcastle for lunch: delicious food and good company, what more could I want?

motherinferior · 24/08/2016 19:32

Course I will, NU!

NUFC69 · 24/08/2016 19:54

Thanks, MI. Enjoy your chicken noodle soup.

hattymattie · 24/08/2016 19:55

Evening Crepies - glad you are safely back home Rudy with DS. Hope things thare a little better.

BTM - hope the blood clots are hanging in there.

Here, we had a magnificent day but only a small climb as we were all exhausted from yesterday. I honestly think I need a couple of days between each walk to recover as my legs feel more and more knackered and on the first day I sprang up like a lamb. DS says his feet hurt - I've had this before from him and I think it may be that his feet are growing very rapidly - he gained three shoe sizes in as many months so if we climb tomorrow he says he will stay reading (on his phone). We may try Helvellyn - wish me luck crepies.

Soup excellent: a friend who is a real foodie recommended using tom yum paste, ages ago, and it produced a great hot and sour flavour.
