I hate microbeads too - how awful that they can have that type of unforeseen impact on the environment - and am so happy that lots of places are phasing them out.

FrustratedFrugal · 28/08/2016 11:59

This seems to be the official EU stance - personally I will not buy anything that has microbeads in it.

Ememem84 · 28/08/2016 14:48

I have a lot with microbeads in them sadly. Will use up and be more careful.

woodhill · 28/08/2016 16:03

Anyone got a link to products which are bead free, I hate the impact they are having on the environment.

FrustratedFrugal · 28/08/2016 17:09

Here's a list - you should check it whenever you are thinking of buying products with scrubby bits.

kwick · 28/08/2016 17:14

eme better that you do not finish those products so no further microbeads make it to sea. You can either chuck them in your regular rubbish or send back to the manufacturer with a note telling them why.

See picture for a list of ingredients to avoid.

Also there is an app: "Beat the microbead"!

I have an empty here! Feels like ages since last one... I have so many beauty products stashed I am itching to start!!!

  • Unani dermo defense face mask. I think this came with a glossybox. I am really not clear what this should do only it certainly does not work a miracle
kwick · 28/08/2016 22:46

How exciting! I have another empty!! Yves Rocher serum vegetal day cream. I have been using this as a night cream - love the stuff! Got it as a free gift. I have the night cream version to try but first have a different Yves Rocher night cream to try.

woodhill · 28/08/2016 23:05

Thanks frustrated

MrsDilligaf · 29/08/2016 08:33

Frustrated & Kwick

Thank you for the lists. I didn't even think about anything else containing plastics! Toothpaste for goodness sake!!

I have two empties!!!

  • Bioderma Crealine deoderant - this was like the never ending deoderant. And I did not like it much. I will not be repurchasing.
  • Decleor ultra-moisturising and plumping expert mask - really nice, expect smelled and tasted (!) of soap. May repurchase eventually - but so many other masks to try first!
AnotherPinkiePieStory · 29/08/2016 17:08

Nice work team! I'm doing well on body stuff but make up defeats me.
Managed to finish another Body Shop shower gel and will finish the Neals yard body butter this week. Gorgeous rose smell but so hard to absorb. I'm tempted to post a picture of my limbs after application. Look like arctic swimmer!!
My fab friend in USA also sent me a generous trial pack of Rodin & Fields stuff which looks great. Yay.

I checked the microbeads links frustrated and kwick. Really helpful. I def need to be more aware. Thankfully the 3 Lush scrubs are on ok list. DS bought me a present via DH to say thanks for looking after him in hospital which is so sweet but 3 heavy duty face and body scrubs. I wonder if they're trying to tell me something?!?

dogdaydisaster · 29/08/2016 19:49

Have downloaded the app, that's brilliant.

I have finished a couple of minis that were in our campsite chalet in France this summer. And I also finished another Aussie conditioner, and a Liz Earle shower gel. Love the Aussie, the LE shower gel smells
nice but is nothing special at all. Now have a huge philosophy shower cream to tackle.

kwick · 29/08/2016 20:13

LOL another I am sure they are just being nice Wink

I went through all my products (actually just thought of other stash I did not check Shock) and all ok.
I do have one Body Shop body butter that contains the fertility impacting cyclo silicone and also one concealer with it in. I am just about to do IVF (for the second time) so will only use if get preggers (but probably after birth as I had a MC last time and would never forgive myself if I jinxed).

Well done dog!

Ememem84 · 29/08/2016 21:22

Night cream finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only issue is I don't have another. Will have to wait until payday... Maybe. Or see if I can cash in some boot points.

kwick · 30/08/2016 09:45

Well done eme! So proud you did not even have a stash!

Blueberryblueberry · 30/08/2016 11:45

Ooo only just found this thread! It has spurred me on to sort out the bathroom and en suite whilst the dc were bathing. Thought we were pretty organised after Marie Kondo-ing but apparently not Confused I have a shiny new soap dish in the en suite and am using a xmas pressie Crabtree and Evelynne soap. After this have found about 4 small Molton brown soaps to use from God knows where. Have also cleared out my freebie bag which is full of sample Clinique moisturisers. Can't use anything like that on my face so am using them up on my neck/as moisturisers. Have kept a couple of small shampoos/conditioners for going away. Am considering using them up though as we either take big bottles or use whatever's there if visiting family etc?? Am now using eye cream so will see of it helps and may have to repurchase one if I notice a difference. Great thread! Got rid of q big caddy in the main bathroom so it looks all nice and minimalist if you ignore all the bath toys

kwick · 30/08/2016 12:46

Welcome blueberry!!!

FreeButtonBee · 30/08/2016 15:08

Finished another face moisturiser. Lovely Korean beauty of joseon one. I ❤️ It but hard to find at the mo. So got a keihls one to replace. Nice simple moisturiser cream. Nothing fancy Dan. Although was £24!! May have to rein it in a bit as just done back to work budget and it's a bit sobering.

I also threw away all my empties which I had been hoarding

I am trying very hard not to buy anymore cosmetics. It's hard!!!

I need to have a proper go at hair stuff as I have loads and loads. Including lots of pricey b&b stuff. Which requires me to actually do stuff to my hair!

dogdaydisaster · 31/08/2016 10:14

Two more empties here, they are like buses...

A surprise finish -the L'Oreal Revitalift SPF25 day cream. As the tube is dark I had no idea that the product was almost done. This was a nice reach day cream, and the SPF was a bonus. And not too pricey.

I also finished my Light Blue perfume, which is on my 13 for Halloween list. I like this for a fresh summer perfume.

So my 13 list is looking like this:

Bare minerals lipstick
-Tarte mascara-done
Body shop camomile cleanser
Liz Earle body lotion
Laura geller Pink lip pencil
Mally brown eye liner
Philosophy shower gel
REN retinol night cream
Bourjois pink liquid lipstick
Elemis apricot toner
Rodial facial oil
-Light blue perfume- done
Tata Harper mini rejuvenating serum

kwick · 31/08/2016 12:44

Well done dog!
May I just ask you about a couple of your 13 items - are they not good?

  • camomille cleanser
  • tata harper serum

I am going to give the Loreal Elvive clay dry shampoo - it just adds grease to my hair - to my SIL. See if it works better for her.

dogdaydisaster · 31/08/2016 15:30

Dog, they are both good, but I have loads of skincare and these are closest to being finished, so I added them. I will one day repurchase them, but not until I've got through others. Well, the body shop balmis lovely, the TH mini rollerball is so fiddly I won't miss it.

dogdaydisaster · 31/08/2016 15:32

dog! I am now talking to myself fgs.
That reply was obviously for kwik Blush

kwick · 31/08/2016 17:20

LOL dog!!!

I may have just had a blow out at new Superdrug near me... Although most of cost was pregnancy tests and not beauty products

kwick · 31/08/2016 20:21

Two empties to report:

  • Nivea Q10 pore refining day cream - really nice, will repurchase some day
  • Quick Fix facials calming clay mask - does not calm!!!
