It seems my capacity to buy new beauty products never ends... I went to Boots to buy the La Roche de Posay spot cream - which they did not have - and ended up buying SIX products from the Boots tea tree and witch hazel range!!! Also a Loreal eye shadow that was in clearance. I am not sure there is any hope for me!

kwick · 21/08/2016 10:17

I have just finished a sample pot of Origins charcoal mask - not that impressed - really does not suck spots out skin like I need it too!! Any of you lovely ladies have any recommendations for declogging masks?
I am still completely devastated with the news that the "A Perfect World" range - which I adore - contains ferility impacting silicone cyclohexasiloxane (or one of its relatives). This nasty is in SO many beauty products Angry

Ememem84 · 21/08/2016 10:45

Just finished clarins shower gel (the yellow one). It's ok. Lathers super well but smells really herby. I wouldn't buy it for myself but this was a gift.

Next to use up Molton brown travel size pink peppercorn.

FrustratedFrugal · 21/08/2016 10:54

Kwick I find using daily BHA -soaked pads (Nip+Fab Dragon's Blood or Stridex Sensitive) helps more with impurities than any mask. I sometimes use a simple clay mask (old tube of Freeman's) on my nose but havent felt the need in 12+ months.

Sorry about triggering your haul. I've only used Effaclar AI (sold in my local supermarket) but lots of MNers swear by Effaclar Duo, so that might be worth a try.

I've used very few products over the past week as I've hiked a lot and mostly just worn sunscreen and some lipstick and perhaps a dab of blusher. I'm very pale and a natural blonde and look unwell without some extra color - so I wear fuchsia lipstick when hiking Wink Today, however, I finally finished a baby food jar of moisturizer (leftovers from a big pump action bottle) that has cluttered up the bathroom all summer long. I really don't need body moisturizers and should never again buy any.

kwick · 21/08/2016 12:00

frustrated I am sure you look amazeballs in fuchsia Wink
Don't worry - I haul without any encouragement.
I have also been applying Stridex Original but think that the Clearsil pads are better... Will try when these pads run out.
I do not know the Freemans brand - will look into Smile
I am seriously (as in it is already in my basket) buying a Foreo (the cheapest one)....

Well done on the empties!
I need to refocus on my 13 by Halloween list.

WellTidy · 21/08/2016 12:09

frustrated I think that the more you use body moisturiser, the more you think that your skin needs it. When I have a break from it for a while, because I haven't thought about putting any on, my skin is dry for a while but it recovers. The only part of my body that does truly need it is my shins , knees and the backs of my arms. And then it needs something heavy duty with a high urea content, not a beautifully fragranced high end product. I'm going to use up all that I have, but I won't buy any again.

enemem I really like the Molton brown pink Pepperpod. I have a 50 ml of it that I will use up when I've made more of an impact on my rituals foaming shower gel as that is one of my 13 by Halloween, which I am taking very seriously. Getting a buzz out of the thought of reporting back that I succeeded on all 13!

FrustratedFrugal · 21/08/2016 12:19

I'm not sure Freeman's exists any more Wink
I remember buying mine when DD1 was a baby. She's 8 now Grin

I've noticed 1990s brownish-pink-nude lipstick is making a resurgence.
Remember all those shades with edible names - mocha, cappucino, truffle, cinnamon, chilli...
I still have some left from the early aughts when bootcuts looked fresh and daring
Wearing some now. Wink

woodhill · 21/08/2016 12:56

I used to have Freemans catalogue.

I've used up a Body Shop shower gel.using my Clinique moisturiser with sunscreen on top for the moment.

I did succumb to the Boots NO7 3 for 2 skincare and £5 voucher offer but I do like their products. It's the small freebies and sachets which are a pain.

I did buy a shampoo and conditioner but I'm quite good with using them up

kwick · 21/08/2016 13:53

You do not know what you have started....

Finished up a crabtree and evelyn La SOurce handcream. Really like this and will probably repurchase at some point in the (distant) future....my handcream stash is quite substantial so not adding to it.

Had a giggle the other day: after being so disciplined on holiday and not buying anything in French pharmacies, Sephora or Kiko, I have just learned that a Kiko store is opening in Belfast next month! Will have to strengthen my resolve re: no more make-up....!

Not doing too badly on that front....resisted buying the recent QVC Laura Geller TSV....it looked nice but when I looked at it critically I realised I pretty much already had equivalent products as well as a full balance and brighten in the cupboard!

FrustratedFrugal · 22/08/2016 09:07

Badgers' that's a tough one. I have no Kiko near me but am spending a few days in Oxford for work next month and have just idly noticed that they have a branch there...

I've actually finished something - a sample of Sensai compact foundation that I have been using as bronzer. It is really nice and a product I really started liking after I decided ro use it up. Despite diligent sunscreen use, I get some patchy hyperpigmentation and the Almond Beige shade nicely bridges my pale natural skintone and the tan on my cheeks. I have another sample of it, so starting that next. It is a big and generous one, enough for several weeks.

Of 13 items to be used up by Halloween, 2 are gone!

finished a grapefruit and honey hand lotion which has been sitting on my desk for the past YEAR! have replaced with a clarins ons from the stash.

have about 2 days worth of night cream still to use up. seriously. that stuff is thick...!

kwick · 22/08/2016 20:12

There is a Kiko in London... I was tempted to buy online but for foundation I really need to try before I buy.

I went through my make-up box this afternoon (off sick due to lurgy) and am going to give some more of my stash to SIL. I have so many palletes its silly but I still have the urge to buy more.

Well done eme, badgers and frustrated!!

usernameinfinito · 22/08/2016 23:21

Long time lurker here!

I have finished many things thanks to these threads, but I want to share that I have finished two beauty products this week: Aldi Lacura face cream, it was very good and only £1.68!
And a bath creme from boots, cost £5.00 aprox. Did not like it. Would not re buy. I think I prefer the ones that cost £1.00 Grin

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 22/08/2016 23:24

Well done guys. You are all awesome.
Frustrated, badgers, there is a Kiko store near my work and if I ever finish early, it's my quick treat! So great and CHEAP!!
My Halloween 13 is getting there and it has weirdly become a distracting focus while DS is still in hospital again. Sadly the easy ones have gone so now into lipsticks! Oddly my idea of a treat to celebrate will be to go to Sephora when next in mainland Europe not really the point hey?

kwick · 23/08/2016 06:52

Welcome user! And well done on your empties Smile

Another I am afraid that I am a bit of an enabler but if Sephora makes you happy then I do not see the harm Hmm

Ememem84 · 23/08/2016 07:09

I'm going to Jo Malone in the next week. And am buying lovely new bath oil for my lovely new bathroom when it's finished

It's a household treat. So doesn't count.

dogdaydisaster · 23/08/2016 10:00

Signing in from France so as not to lose this thread. Have frustratingly finished nothing since I got here, and might have popped into Sephora and a pharmacy whilst here as well Blush.

kwick · 23/08/2016 10:16

I think I may swap out some of my 13 for Halloween - no use having firm favourites there right? It is more about focusing on those pesky products that will not be repurchased?

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 23/08/2016 12:28

Definitely kwick. I have swoped a few so def allowed!
I am very jealous of the French pharmacy/ Sephora trip dogday. My DSs condition will be aggrevated by sunlight so holidays may be to dark areas of the world for next few years. Where is sunless but with Sephora?!?

FrustratedFrugal · 23/08/2016 17:32

Kwick of course you can switch around your Halloween picks. I'm starting to realize it would be smarter to reapply one lipstick several times a day instead of trying to use up four simultanously. And getting rid of a bunch of samples would help too!

FrustratedFrugal · 23/08/2016 17:33

And welcome user!

Imnotacelebgetmeouttahere · 23/08/2016 17:34

I sensibly had a massive clear out of my make up so it would fit in my new dresser....

And now I've found this thread and seen things I might need Grin

I can't believe dd2 dropped me in it - she called me out on my lipstick hoard to dh.
