I can recommend the perfumistas thread - everyone over there is über knowledgeable Wink

Today's DIY advent calendar sample is Missha Super Aqua Snail serum. I wore it under my makeup today. Nice product but Missha Borabit Ampoule is my everyday favorite.

Re blushers, I'm very pale and neutral/cool and for some reason lots of 'universal' blushers like Nars Orgasm look a bit off /try hard on me. Pale, icy pink powder blushers are the best. A peachy or orange stripe on my cheeks can look slightly dirty...

kwick · 07/12/2016 19:54

Welcome baby!!!

Oooo dog I love Five Guys!!!

Yep free those Chanel babies go on FOREVER!!!

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 07/12/2016 19:55

Oh kwick now I want Chanel too!

I never wear blusher. With my rosacea I can look a bit aunt Sally! But always envy women who can and look so awake and on-it!

FrustratedFrugal · 07/12/2016 20:10

AnotherPinkiePie most people on my mother's side have redness type rosacea and are permanently flushed. It might be in the cards for me too (my brother who is 3 years younger than me already has it...) so I have to hurry up with my blush stash... I wonder whether sun exposure makes this type of rosacea worse. My family members never use any UV screen - I have been super diligent for years.

I mixed up my samples, today's DIY advent calendar treat was an IOPE moisturizer (used up on my neck). It smells very mature, lotiony but also like crushed dandelion stems. Hanbang bouquet?

Welcome new people! Grin

Welcome baby!!!

Oooo dog I love Five Guys!!!

kwick · 07/12/2016 21:01

So dogday I chose:
-Weleda Skin Food

  • Elemis illuminating flash balm
-Caudalie hydrating mask -Bioderma miscellar - green one -Kiehls cilantro and orange extract mask So exciting!!!
kwick · 07/12/2016 21:29

I have an empty!
Aromatherapy Associates Inner Strength skin recovery moisturiser - really did not like strong sandalwood smell (5ml sample)

kwick · 08/12/2016 07:10

I have another empty and its from my 12 by Christmas list!!!

  • L'Occitane relaxing body lotion - I love the fact this is in a pump bottle, love how it sinks in so quick but hate the smell!

Advent gift is usable again!!! High five!!!

ememem84 · 08/12/2016 07:48

No empties here but the thread fell off my list so just getting it back on there.

My eye gel is going on for ever!!!!

mowglik · 08/12/2016 13:44

Got a few empties - they're not on my xmas list but will count them so 12/12 done! I've also arranged to do a makeup/skincare swap with my sils in early feb so Ive already started stashing stuff away for that. Its stuff I would have used up but would rather swap away so its a win win

Finished 2 MAC pro longer eyeliners - will repurchase these as they are brilliant, smudgey enough but set beautifully

Have just used up a few lotions and balm on my feet that were getting a bit old:
Love boo baby lotion
Balance me stellar beauty balm
Cosrx rice sleeping pack

This is great my bathroom is starting to only contain products that I love to use, need to stick to these products next year and not buy more fluff that I will struggle to use up (beauty calendar and beauty box notwithstanding Grin)

kwick that sample service sounds brilliant Envy

dogdaydisaster · 08/12/2016 22:12

Finished a full size Liz Earle toner this morning. Not sure what it did to be honest Grin so quite glad it's done with.

HooArghhhEwe · 09/12/2016 08:08

The Caroline hirons cult beauty box is out and still in stock and I haven't bought it. V proud of myself. Grin

dogdaydisaster · 09/12/2016 09:32

I've not bought it either. Too expensive for me in one big hit.

Another little empty- the body scrub from the decleor calendar. Lovely smell and very scrubby. Got about 4 days use from this mini.

Trundle13 · 09/12/2016 10:31

MIRANDA IS DEAD! Finished the last tiny soap flake the other night. (Had lost its scent weeks ago, as mentioned above, but in the spirit of using up I couldn't bring myself to throw it out, soldiered on until the bitter end!!) another how is your Miranda?! Grin

Didn't feel I could show my face here until I had used it, so a list of other empties from the past couple of weeks:
Body Shop shea butter hand cream
L'Occitane Arlesienne hand cream
Lush cherry blossom scrub bar thing
Swell volume boost shampoo
Dove soap
Original source sweet almond oil body butter thing (again...need to stop buying/hoarding this & use some moisturiser sachets instead!!)

Cleaned bathroom yesterday & so much easier without lots of half-used bottles!

However, I do feel that my impressive progress toiletries is not being matched by make-up; if anything the stash is growing Blush although I did resist the Black Friday offers! Goal for 2017 is to concentrate more on using perfumes/make-up, going to implement the trick mentioned up-thread of periodically rotating products into the 'everyday' make-up bag. (kwick was that your tip?)

IPokeBadgers · 09/12/2016 10:37

Just got an email: the Rituals Calendar is reduced to under £40 if anyone wants a late bargain?

StrawberryandCreamPips · 09/12/2016 11:53

Hi everyone, been lurking and loving this and predecessor threads for several months now - great idea and just the kick in the backside I've needed to start getting hoard into order, or at least thinking about using some stuff up.

Joining in while on a high as I ended up with three empties last night and can't resist a leetle boast:

  1. Body Shop Frosted Plum Body Butter. A gift from last Xmas that I've been happily plodding through all year - smells good; v rich texture so great for dry winter skin but too claggy for me in summer.
Replaced with another gift from the stash: Yves Rocher Honey & Muesli (?!) Body Milk. V marzipan-y at first sniff, maybe too much so for long-term comfort but will persist and see.

  2. Grown Alchemist Antioxidant+ Facial Oil: This was a repeat buy and will defo buy again in future, one of my staples.
However, replaced for now by bottle of 100% Argan Oil I picked up at TK Maxx a bit ago, see how that fares.

  3. Yves Rocher Lavender Foot Scrub. Another regular, boringly replaced by tube of same product from the reserves.

On the downside, went into Lush this morning for some Xmas bits for others and came away with small bottle of Rose Jam Shower Gel for self plus trial pot of another Xmas limited edition shower gel (Bubbly I think?). Ho-hum.

woodhill · 09/12/2016 13:32

Finished a full size Champneys body butter, liked this but it feels like a major achievement to finish it

Keep up all the hard work everyone Smile

kwick · 09/12/2016 18:54

Great progress mow!!

So proud of you hoo! Grin

Wow trundle amazeballs progress!!! Yep it was my tip to rotate!

Welcome strawberry!!!

Just landed back from penultimate work trip of the year - cannot wait to get home to open advent!!!

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 09/12/2016 20:05

Well done all. Only 2 purchases in lush?! A win strawberry!
hoo and dog nice resisting. I shall channel you guys when I go googling!

trundle Grin Miranda finally died last week when tiny sliver fell down behind toilet which I am sure is impeccably clean. I decided it was god saying "that'll do pinkie " so I binned it! Feels good and onto lovely l'occitane one.

I accidentally slipped some on offer things into my trolley in supermarket and felt an idiot but then saw a kids xmas present collection in local library so they went there and order is restored. Phew. Very good advent calendar game today too so feeling good. Roll on xmas!

applesandpears33 · 09/12/2016 20:16

Another empty for me - Boots rosewater with glycerine. My skin seems to like this, but I have a feeling glycerine isn't recommended by a lot of people. Does anyone have any ideas about whether it is good or bad for your skin?

I've now finished 8 products, only another two to go before the end of the month.

kwick · 09/12/2016 20:24

Um.. what is a Miranda? Confused

Success!!!! Finally a hair serum that does not contain nasty silicones - lets hope it works!!! Thank you advent calendar!

kwick · 09/12/2016 20:50

I have finished item from advent: Pixi glow tonic - I have not seen dramatic results but I would but full size.

HooArghhhEwe · 09/12/2016 23:40

Well done kwick, apples, trundle, dog, strawberry (and welcome) and anyone else I've missed.

Re swapping round every day make up I think I need to move my make up in to my bedroom again as it's getting hot in the bathroom. I think I'll pop an "everyday" bag in the bathroom and try to get through that (with rotations so I don't get board!).

I'm surprised how much this thread has made me re think purchasing in the short time since I've joined.

kwick · 10/12/2016 07:38

SOS!!!! Does anyone else have the Look Fantastic advent & remembers what was day 4?
I forgot I was making a list and had to retrospectively add in... but cannot work out what day 4 was Confused

Indecisivejo · 10/12/2016 07:58

Sorry I don't really post on here as my empties would be boring lol they stay the same! But kwick I NEED to know what this hair serum is without silicone?? Been looking for ages!
