Oh no kwick! That would kill me
Grin can you get anyone at home to do a live reveal for you over FaceTime or similar?? Desperate times call for desperate measures

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 02/12/2016 08:58

Oh no I'm gutted as wont get home until 5pm and can't wait to open official ac with family and ilicit one by myself like a guilty pleasure for 2 days. If it's something a bit dodge like a hair band you'll hear me even where you are frustrated
hoo interested that you say that as ct was going to be my next try. Can't find many who rave about ct here on mn

FrustratedFrugal · 02/12/2016 13:42

Here's an advent calendar reveal that won't contain any spoilers Wink

DD1 had lovingly placed two Tony Moly moisturizers in the first two pockets of the DIY calendar. Donkey Milk something and Aquaporin something. Pleasant. Gone already. It is really surprising how great they felt 💖🎁🛍🎉

I'm on a train, traveling north through snow-covered forests and fields. After a really busy autumn, it is really great to unwind for a few days 🌺

FrustratedFrugal · 02/12/2016 13:49

Oh and I haven't heard any screaming yet Wink
Hope that Kwick and Pinkie will get something really nice tonight!

DragonNoodleCake · 02/12/2016 22:15

Kwick and Pinkie - what did you get??

kwick · 03/12/2016 07:19

That is sooo funny mow!!! I live alone... in fact yesterday was a pretty sad day - I am undergoing fertility treatment and I got a BFN after try number 8 - hence why I forgot about the advent. Anyhoo onwards and upwards!

Hope you have a great break frustrated

Am I allowed to say what I got? I thought that we agreed not to? Anyway it was a very nice looking cream, which I cannot use as it contains fertility busting cyclopentasiloxane Angry

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 03/12/2016 08:07

Oh kwick Flowers sorry to hear that
Reckon you deserve to open all windows in one fat blow-out.

I got a lovely wrinkle filler this am and acid cream yesterday from m&s! Feeling my age. My rosacea has come back with vengeance so will avoid these for a while.
But rituals day 1 was mascara which has gone into try later pile. Not open others yet but just love how it all looks.
I have 8 mascaras on go!?! So reckon I'll need to replace sometime in 2020! I don't really buy into 6 month limit.
Trip was business but still good and used up a balm cream that was essentially coconut oil and I think gave me spots! Gone anyway.

DragonNoodleCake · 03/12/2016 08:12

Sorry to hear that kwick. FlowersChocolate

DragonNoodleCake · 03/12/2016 08:13

Maybe we should start a postal sample swap for stuff you can't use?

applesandpears33 · 03/12/2016 09:20

Kwick - sorry to hear that. I hope you get something nice today.

I've finished a body shop aloe vera exfoliator. It was OK and I might repurchase in the future but there are so many lovely products out there to try. It is being replaced with a boots Protect and Perfect exfoliator which has been in the cupboard for about a year. Four more products to use up before the end of the year.

FreeButtonBee · 03/12/2016 09:31

Finished the hylamide.

DH and I are in a hotel for a night of passion and I was so proud of myself. Packed Uber lightly, taking mainly samples. Forgot to pack cleanser so popped into space NK where the lovely assistant gave me a decent sample of Emma hardie cleansing balm. Result.

Hotel toiletries are a bit average - espa basic stuff. Ho hum.

FrustratedFrugal · 03/12/2016 10:04

Kwick CakeChocolateWine

FreeButtonBee enjoy your night of passion Wink

We exprienced heavy snowfall this morning. DC enjoyed it and I'll go for a walk later. I packet DIY advent calendar samples with me, today it is going to be a Garnier Moisture Bomb 3-in-1 moisturizer. Will save it for the evening as subzero temps and moisturizer are generally not a great combination.

Re rosacea, my sympathies. I have mild rosacea, it has been in remission for years, but winter is always a tricky time. Temperature changes are the biggest trigger for me.

kwick · 03/12/2016 10:04

OMG dragon that is such a good idea!!!!! oh and I may have signed up for Feel Unique sample pick and mix

Today's one is a blush.... which I rarely wear as I have red patches on my skin but now I have my skin tone primer from Kiko, I should be able to experiment some more with blushers.

I have an empty:
Indeed Hydraluron (serum) - I bought this based on a Caroline Hirons recommendation... I was not that impressed really....

mowglik · 03/12/2016 10:08

kwick sorry to hear that I've had fertility treatment as well so know how it can be...as you say the only way is onwards and upwards!

I bought a beauty box subscription on groupon a week ago and just received the first box - am very chuffed for the price! You can also choose your products so hopefully no duds. That and the M&S beauty calendar means I'll be well stocked for next year Blush just as well next jan is a no buy and the rest of the year a lo-buy!

FrustratedFrugal · 03/12/2016 10:13

Oh my - the ultimate advent treat!

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 03/12/2016 20:18

frustrated that's intriguing. I don't need any encouragement but in case I did. What beauty box did you order mowglik?
Like the idea of swop dragon
button how goes night of psssion? I dream of that. DH and I have only had 1 night away since DD was born 3.5 yrs ago. No one is offering to have her! Her sleep is still unreliable!

mowglik · 03/12/2016 21:41

another I got the love me beauty 6 month subs from groupon - £41.50 inc p&p. Products change every month and they are good choice of brands. Highly recommended!

Would be happy to do a postal swap...although I was stung in a mumsnet swap by someone 2 years ago and I just randomly saw her post in chat today

HooArghhhEwe · 03/12/2016 23:28

I had to bin some zelens acid pads as smallest Hoo managed to get in the bathroom, unscrew the lid and throw them about the grubby floor. I wasn't that impressed anyway so wasn't going to repurchase but it was a waste.

HooArghhhEwe · 03/12/2016 23:32

kwick I thought the indeed hylamide was rubbish. And sorry about AF. Flowers

Speaking of Caroline Hirons is anyone thinking about getting her cult beauty box? I think I'm out this time. The second item was good genes which I already have and will struggle to finish.

kwick · 04/12/2016 06:42

frustrated that looks pretty special - did you get it?
I am loving the thrill of a daily surprise with my beauty advent!

Also I just learned that Beauty guru Caroline Hirons is doing a collab with Pixi and creating a double cleanser- balm on one side, cream on the other - I will defo try that when it comes out in Jan.

Work is doing a collection for a charity of essentials and I have already given so specifically bought shampoo and conditioner but I think I will go through my stash too.

Hoo I too am hesistant about getting beauty box - I am sure there are things I will not like, so I prefer to buy the specific things I want or do the samples pick and mix.

Still no AF - but that is normal as the progesterone needs to wear off first. Thanks for the well wishes - it means a lot.

FrustratedFrugal · 04/12/2016 07:44

Kwick I didn't - it looks lovely but I'm on a decluttering kick. We are at MIL's and she has three bathrooms chock full of products... I don't want to end up like her Shock

Today's DIY advent calendar treat is Missha Time Revolution Immortal Youth Moisturizer. Gotta love the name! I think the lizard skin on the back of my hands deserves this special treat Wink

I went to a sauna last night and it was so relaxing... My skin was properly steamed and I slept for 12 hours afterward and woke up to smooth, supple skin Grin

FiveShelties · 04/12/2016 11:14

kwick - sorry to read that - I was unable to have children and it can be very tough sometimes. Flowers

I have finished a hand cream and I think I only have two in reserve - a minor miracle for me.

kwick · 04/12/2016 11:15

Sounds amazing frustrated

Yesterday I did the following:

  • about 30 minutes with Korres wild rose aha peeling mask
  • then had bath, and washed face with Biore baking soda cleanser (which I think is pretty naff)
  • then put Garnier moisture bomb sheet mask on for about 10 minutes, took off sheet (and stored back in fridge for future use) and sat there with gungy stuff on my face for another 10 mins or so
  • then I applied a couple of drops of Cougar hyaluronic acid facial oil in under Neutrogena hydraboost water gel
  • then I did a full face of make-up
  • did my day
  • removed with Liz Earle
= boy oh boy did my skin like that!!!! Hope it was not a blip but that actually some of newness (mask, oil) actually work!!!!!!
kwick · 04/12/2016 11:21

Oooh and I also used up a Montagne Heaunesse 7th Heaven manuka honey rescue mask for the hair - very nice!!!

kwick · 04/12/2016 12:24

Sorry five Flowers it really sucks, right?
