badger YOU RAN OUT OF SHAMPOO?????
I am right there with you on the Body Shop comment - also does anyone remember the Vidal Sasson shampoo & conditioner that smelled of almonds?? Or the first bottles of Pantene - it was like a miracle shampoo!!

kwick · 30/11/2016 18:30

OMG tomorrow is 1st December!!!!

Dulcimena · 30/11/2016 18:34

Right ladies I need some help. Over the years I have accumulated quite a lot of makeup, more than I will ever use up, and I've purged a lot of the liquid/cream stuff but I just can't throw away powder products because I know they won't go "off". But I don't, and probably won't, use them.

I really want to let go and declutter but it feels so wasteful to throw out perfectly good stuff. How do I get past this hurdle? Any ingenious tips??

FiveShelties · 30/11/2016 19:40

Would a Women's Refuge want them Dulcimena?

I have two more empties to report - one was a 30ml BeeKind Body Moisturiser from a hotel in America a couple of years ago. The other was an Island Escape Spray Fragrance 25ml which was in last year's Beauty Box from M & S. I quite liked the Island Escape and would purchase if I did not have a couple (or ten) other perfumes.

FrustratedFrugal · 30/11/2016 20:16

Dulcimena can you take the stuff to your workplace? I tend to recycle my magazines and any extra food that way, and have also donated extra makeup samples. (The key is to leave them somewhere where people can partake without anyone seeing them - I left half a chocolate cake in our break room yesterday at 5pm and it was gone this morning Wink)

No empties to report but thanks for the Korean washcloth link!
I have just painted my nails red and am about to slather on a lot of overnight products.

FrustratedFrugal · 30/11/2016 20:28

If you want to play with lipstick without buying anything, try this -
sephoravirtualartist.com

It's surprisingly goid and confirms what I see in the mirror - matte lipstick tends to look shit on me, and satiny and glossy texture complements my pale & mute natural coloring.

Dulcimena · 30/11/2016 20:54

Thank you very much for the suggestions Five and Frugal - women's refuge is a brilliant idea. Will do some googling and see what's local. Some of it is still sealed so that could work really well. You've reminded me of a request recently for kits for the homeless, think they were primarily looking for toiletries but I'll contact them too.

In the spirit of the thread, I'm about to finish a L'Occitane free with a magazine hand cream, I'll miss it when it's gone but also be quite glad to have finished something Wink

kwick · 30/11/2016 21:04

give them to me dulci what five & frustrated said

CAN I PLEASE OPEN MY ADVENT CALENDAR EARLY??????

woodhill · 30/11/2016 21:19

Are the M&S AC's identical or does contents vary.

IPokeBadgers · 30/11/2016 21:38

kwick yip, I ran out of shampoo. Before starting this thread, it was not something that I could even have comprehended....I had something ridiculous like 6 or 7 bottles in the stash....now I'm a 'buy one, have one in reserve' girl....only this time I used up the reserve before I could buy more! Lol

FiveShelties · 30/11/2016 22:11

kwick - yes of course you can open your calendar early! Have just returned from NZ and they are 13 hours ahead of UK - so really it is 1st December there! Grin

Which calendar did you get?

DragonNoodleCake · 30/11/2016 22:42

I managed to step away from boots online this evening without purchasing anything!! Win Grin

youredeadtomesteven · 01/12/2016 01:18

all, it's going pretty well. Besides the 2 products on their last legs, I've got the following to use up by Christmas;
The Body Shop strawberry body butter (dp uses this frequently on me!)
A Seventeen pressed powder (already re-purchased!)
250g bottle of Snow Fairy shower gel
Aussie Beach Mate shampoo+conditioner (I literally have about another 6-8 bottles to get through! So lush though)
Clean and Clear cleanser. I'll never buy this again. Bought on a whim it was on offer and thought it'd be like how I remembered. It's just bleh and shit now.
*
Well then, it's 1am on December 1st and I've got empties!!
*
The Body Shop strawberry body butter - Gone, probably won't repurchase unless someone buys it for me. I've got too many to use up first.
250g Lush Snow Fairy - will be getting some for Christmas and still have a larger bottle stashed away, no need to repurchase.
Aussie Beach Mate Conditioner (with the Beach Mate shampoo on its last legs. No need to buy more as have ridiculous amounts of this stuff.

That leaves the following products to be used up in the last remaining month of 2016;
* 17 Pressed Powder - love this powder as it's so light and not weird on my face, but I'm becoming impatient with how long lasting it is - 6 months of daily use and it's still going strong!
* Clean and Clear cleansing lotion (sensitive) - I find this toner utterly pointless and may have to just chuck it and chalk it up to experienceBlush
**
I'm going to write a new list out for December and January.

youredeadtomesteven · 01/12/2016 01:19

Agh, sorry my previous post got added onto my most recent post. Sorry if any confusion!Wine

kwick · 01/12/2016 08:18

I was a good girl and waited until this morning to open up first advent box - after years of having no advent I have gone all out with 2 this year - one from Oxfam: common or garden paper/card one and then an absolutely amazeballs and rather expensive Look Fantastic beauty one. It did not disappoint- day 1 = Pixi Gliw Tonic, cult favourite I have wanted to try for ages!!!!

Well done dragon and youre!!!

Frustrated you are indeed an inspiration!!!

dogdaydisaster · 01/12/2016 08:37

Apples- feel unique pick and mix is £3.95 per month and younchoose 5 samples from a couple of hundred options. I'm trying eye creams this month as I'm getting low. When I'm going away I go for minis of things I need to take with me.

I had the Look Fantastic this morning- v happy with my Pixi Glow mini. That's a staple of mine so I will keep that for travel. I was also given the decleor one as a gift, and that had the aroma cleanser, which I aim to use up straight away over the next couple of days.

dogdaydisaster · 01/12/2016 08:39

And DD (13) has Jack Wills and asos (also a gift- we love her godmother!!). She got a pale pink nail polish (JW) and a fairly decent sized facial scrub (asos). Need to check that for microbeads.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 01/12/2016 08:48

Nice work everyone esp youredead
I'm away so trying to use up samples and going ok. Finished a gorgeous Elemis frangipani moisturiser. Will repurchase in summer. So lovely smelling.

I opened my m&s calendar a day early as away. Lovely hand cream although I hardly need more as I think they might breed in my house! 2 more in a forgotten handbag!
Haven't opened rituals calendar yet and DH still doesn't know about it!

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 01/12/2016 08:50

Also tried out bobby brown eyeshadow sticks in duty free. Lovely. Lasted 10hours and no creasing. I've tried many different ones but these look best and I may purchase on way back. Sorry not helping and doubtful of my ability to do a no spend 2017!

dogdaydisaster · 01/12/2016 09:55

Actually, do people mind advent calendar reveal posts here? Don't want to spoil it for anyone waiting until evening?

Finshed some make up this morning. A bare minerals highlighter, which was nice enough. Not terribly au fait with highlighters so can't compare it ton anything else really.

woodhill · 01/12/2016 10:04

Yes please don't reveal for M&S.

I had a peek at my old beauty box list as I can still rejoin but I resisted.

HooArghhhEwe · 01/12/2016 10:48

another
I really like them. I use the Vanilla coloured one as my travel, easy, go to eye shadow. I don't like travelling with brushes so most of my hand bag/weekend away make up is in sticks.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 01/12/2016 23:10

Won't reveal! Consider it hidden!
Thanks hoo i love the ease of sticks but never met one that lasts. Until now!

kwick · 02/12/2016 06:08

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!! I forgot to open my advent this morning... just remembered - am in cab on my way to Heathrow - another killer day trip for work.

HooArghhhEwe · 02/12/2016 08:21

another I like the Burberry ones too but think that the Charlotte tilbury ones are sparkly shit.

kwick safe travels
