Am having another rummage through my make-up stash - I implemented a new "strategy" a few months ago - I re-select for the bag every so often, so I do not get bored...

Dogday buying samples is not a bad strategy Wink At least you are not stuck with a humongous full size product that breaks you out. US Sephora sells a lot of mini products (not just boring travel essentials) and I find them really hard to resist...

Kwick your rummage sounds great! I tend to switch products around every few months, they get worn more evenly and I can pick seasonal shades.

ememem84 · 26/11/2016 19:01

I'm planning on not buying any more make up. Until mine is all used. There. I said it.

will start in January

A friend of mine recently went to Bobbi brown and had her make up done and was told to ditch some of the nasty products. She came away £200 poorer but with 5 essential every day quick to apply face looks great products.

I've asked dh for this for my 40th. I'm 32 now. I should have finished my stash by then.

kwick · 26/11/2016 19:43

Haha em how forward thinking of you!

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 26/11/2016 22:01

Thanks dogday love a sample.

As for touche eclat heard someone suggest drawing on cats whiskers with it. Looks odd but blended, really brightens the face. After epic weekend at work I need that!

I'm coming back to pencils frustrated after mostly ignoring them. Being child of 90's, I was scarred by black eyeliner as lip liner but coming back to them as def smarten a look. Not quite brace enough for really bright eye but will try to embrace spirit of glam Jan!

Momentumista · 26/11/2016 22:16

The cats whiskering- is that either side of mouth, or eyes?

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 27/11/2016 11:21

Cheeks! Like a proper kitten face paint! I was a bit Hmm then heard Caitlin Moran did same as recommended by Kelly Brooke! Random fact!

FreeButtonBee · 27/11/2016 12:55

Finished a lacura face cream. Didn't like the smell so used it on my body. Was quite good for that and skin v soft. Pity it was so heavily scented. Am now using the last of my aromatherapy associates body oil. Which I love. Only about 20% left so that should take me to Christmas. It would be a definite repurchase once I've used up the body lotion mountain. 🙄

I'm not managing much in the way of makeup - life is just too hectic. Night on the town on Friday and then work xmas do the next week but nothing partic glam so I can't really go mad.

HooArghhhEwe · 27/11/2016 13:03

My touché éclat (sorry random accents) always went mouldy before I finished it Hmm

Great idea ^ thread for a make up bag that you switch about.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 27/11/2016 13:07

em loved your post. I could def get to 40 without buying more make up. I'm 36 and half!
kwick love the stash! I love a forage through another persons make up!
I do am getting better at burning candles. Currently loving bath and body works. Only in USA but can order through eBay at around £20. Not cheap but amazing. Much better than more expensive brands. Currently awaiting my xmas stash!

HooArghhhEwe · 27/11/2016 13:32

Oh and finished a Malin + geotez mint body scrub. Not scrubby enough - won't re purchase but would like a nice in shower scrub if anyone has any recs.

FreeButtonBee · 27/11/2016 14:35

Ren salt scrub is amazing. Rub over dry skin then dampen your hand and rub all over again. Then rinse. Totally smooth as a baby's bum.

woodhill · 27/11/2016 14:39

Using up sachets, so liberating as it reduces clutter.

kwick · 27/11/2016 20:31

Just had a splurge including buying much coveted Laura Mercier powder - but it is not for me but SIL Halo

FreeButtonBee · 27/11/2016 21:01

Wim falling into bed tonight with a large dose of night nurse. Feeling crap and DS1 is obviously coming down with the same as we've been niggling each other all day. The baby is just about out the other side of it and DD and DH haven't caught it yet. So bed and sleep for me.

MrsDilligaf · 28/11/2016 08:01

Please can I count this as used up?!?

I am so bored of this eyeshadow. It's on my list of 12 for Christmas - as you can see I have hit significant pan Grin

Yes mrs nice work. You are done!

mowglik · 28/11/2016 08:32

Def mrs, I don't get more done than that myself!

Finally finished a molton Brown coco and sandalwood body lotion which was started to smell a bit off Confused

Thats 8 of my list, 4 more to go

hooarrgh I don't use a scrub anymore since I started using a Korean wash cloth. You scrub your skin with it and soon start to see little 'worms' of dead skin falling off, it's so satisfying! Second winter I haven't had dead skin flaking around my socks or flying around when I take my bra off (sorry tmi Grin). It's a hell of a lot cheaper too, have just replaced mine from the last year

woodhill · 28/11/2016 10:47

Hope you feel better soon bee

Not using make up as I am at home recuperating but am using up body and face products.

This thread is brilliant as I am much more considered about my purchases.

HooArghhhEwe · 28/11/2016 14:02

Well done Mrs

Mow that's a fab idea, thanks.

Also thanks for the exfoliater suggestions, I'm on it.

Finished an Emma Hardie mini 👍

FrustratedFrugal · 28/11/2016 16:33

Mrs that is definitely gone! Great work, well done! Flowers

Em your post was so inspiring. I've given it a lot of thought and I want to join you in a total cosmetics shopping ban in 2017. The only exception allowed is running out of something (I am low on some hair products and may need to buy a new mascara and some new sunscreen next year). However, before buying something new my stash needs to be depleted in that category. If I manege to do this, I will make significant progress in many areas.

I am doing a #30wears projects with my clothes (trying to get #30wears out of as many existing pieces in my wardrobe as possible) and that is curbing some of my spending impulses. When I consider buying something new, it means that I will have to wear it at least 30 times. More often than not, it sounds like a chore. And I impulse buy less stuff! With cosmetics, having to use it up also slows me down. I briefly considered a Zoeva eye palette on Black Friday but I estimated that using it up would take 2.5 years - no way 🖐🏻

MrsDilligaf · 28/11/2016 18:57

Hooray! I'm binning it tonight! I've only had it 10 possibly 12 or more years.

So here's my updated list - items in bold are done Grin

1) Liz Earle - Cleanse and Polish
2) Clinique - Clarifying Lotion
3) Clinique - Take the Day Off-
4) Estee Lauder - ANR Eye Cream
5) Elemis - Pro Coll. Marine Cream
6) Branche D'Olive - Shampoo
7) Branche D'Olive - Conditioner
8) Avon - Premiere Blush Perfume
9) Lancome - Lion D'Or Eyeshadow
10) Lancome - Black Eyeliner Pencil
11) Soap and Glory - Butter Me Up
12) Soap and Glory - Hand Cream

With a bit of luck and a prevailing wind the rest will go before Christmas and then I will be onto Glam Jan.

kwick · 28/11/2016 19:21

That is definitely "done" mrs I would have given up ages ago!!

Ooooo mow a korean wash cloth

ememem84 · 28/11/2016 19:27

frustrated yay! Someone to join my quest for clear bathrooms

Im making a list of what I have. And when I use it I will replace with like or not (depending on if it's the last of something I like).

FrustratedFrugal · 28/11/2016 19:30

Please share the washcloth link! I still love Korean stuff!

I've used the Missha Borabit serum every morning under makeup and my skin seems to like it. Going all out tonight with Missha eye serum and Dr Jart sleeping pack! (Going to finish all of them - I have a couple of other serums and sleeping packs lined up after these are gone.)
