I'm amending my list. 2 products have 2 more uses max out of them and they are at DP's house so I'm counting them as 'gone'. I've also added an extra item.

Products to use up by 2017.
*Seventeen Pressed Powder
*Aussie Beach Mate S+C Big Bottles (these have lasted months so far!)
*Clean and Clear cleanser (I hate this but I'm persevering.)
*Body Shop Strawberry hand cream

So, four/five products to go, and then I'm able to replace with another powder, more Aussie shampoo and conditioner, a nip and fab cleanser and a replacement hand cream. No need to spend any money on products this month, even though it's horribly tempting!

FreeButtonBee · 13/11/2016 21:54

And another! Riveting atocontrol body lotion. Bought for DD excema but didn't suit her. Very sticky and thick going on but sinks in okay. Have another two full bottles but am using up an Aldi caviar face cream on my body (can't stand the perfume on my face) next. It's going down pleasingly quickly!

I also found a body of glycolic acid toner (a Superdrug brand) which is supposed to be a dupe of pixi glow tonic which will replace my nip and fab gylcolic pads (last couple on tub). I'm not mad keen on the smell but at least I can slap it on with abandon and not worry. I'm not sure if repurchase the nip and fab. I did like the pixi glow but it was the first chemical exfoliant I'd ever used and it sorted my flaky patches almost instantly. It's more tricky for the next one to blow you away I find. But got about 3 months to figure it out!

applesandpears33 · 13/11/2016 22:13

I'm going to amend my list. I threw out an old nail varnish this evening because the consistency had gone a bit thick and gloopy. Still tempted by the M&S calendar which is back in stock. I like things like that because I can try out different products without spending a fortune, but I amn't good at getting rid of the ones that don't suit me so end up with loads hoarded away.

kwick · 14/11/2016 09:00

Amazeballs progress everyone!!! StarStarStar

IPokeBadgers · 14/11/2016 09:04

Finished a No 7 Intelligent Colour foundation: this is a repeat buy for me and I like to wear it when I only want very light coverage. Am fortunate to have pretty good skin so don't want to cover it up with really heavy foundations. Think there is probably another one in the stash!

Think I have also finished a small Decleor hand cream but want to cut it open later this evening to double check in case there are another couple of applications inside.

Avoided buying yesterday's Elemis TSV....Had a word with myself because I already have an unopened Elemis shower gel as well as unopened face products.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 14/11/2016 14:02

Nice work. I wish I had the same will power badgers.
kwick love the eyes. And advent calendars are for life not just for xmas Wink so a chance to try lovely new things rather than buy full price. Telling self also!
freebutton how did night out make-up go? When I joined my brother in trendy London hipster places, there was hardly any male-up to be seen. Poor show hipsters.
So I'm rubbish but
Finally finished Liz Earle lip pencil. Nurrrrhhh only
Also elvive shampoo. Lurking for ages
Also toothpastes x2 but never feel they count.
Next plan to finish 3 various oils bought when pregnant with DS to prevent stretch marks. He is now 6 and they still have less than quarter in each so will use over all of body and be done by 2017!

FrustratedFrugal · 14/11/2016 17:34

Everyone is doing so well! Beauty advent calendars make sense if you want to test some new products - if you got one, enjoy it.

I binned my Real Techniques stippling brush. I've had it for 1.5 years, out of which it got perhaps six months of active use. I washed all my brushes on Saturday and it completely disintegrated. Very glad I didn't buy more of RT brushes - I'm a gentle washer and some of my brushes have lasted decades. Won't need a replacement. I've gone back to compact foundation. Sensai is ace and it is applied with a sponge.

FreeButtonBee · 14/11/2016 19:48

anotherpinkie a lot of STRONG lips!

kwick · 14/11/2016 22:20

Oh that is not good news about the RT stipling brush frustrated.. I have one which I have not used yet Blush

I actually felt so good yesterday having bought an Oxfam advent calender.. and then in the space of two minutes of madness I bid on and won the Look Fantastic advent... but it is full of stuff I want to try... kwick desperately tries to justify

Cockblocktopus · 14/11/2016 22:56

On holiday at the moment and brought the no 7 gold mascara with me as it's almost empty and will be by the time I leave. Also almost finished the Bobbi brown eye opening mascara (and I don't have any others at home) so bought Mac Opulash at duty free.

Also Blush bought the Maybelline lip studio colour blur pencil which is excellent. Perfect hand bag lip stick in a nice matte but not drying formula. Goes on very easily and gives that slightly smudged, relaxed look.

kwick · 15/11/2016 07:57

I am chucking the Absolute eyeshadow primer which I got yonks ago from Glossybox... I have been using consistently for the last few weeks... but I was just taking a closer look at the tube and I noticed it contains fertility busting cyclopentasiloxane & cyclohexasiloxane - big no-nos. I thought I had checked this before - anyway it is going in the bin.

See below for full list of nasties I try to avoid...

MrsDilligaf · 15/11/2016 08:37

Ta DA! Pro-Collagen Marine Cream DONE! (Only another 4 to get through now Hmm)

I have started on the PCMC cleansing Balm - it smells divine.

Bunny thanks for the recommendation re LE hair oil, I will give that a go as my hair really likes oil.

Right STOP talking about advent calendars. It's making me waver and I don't need one. I don't!

...Maybe I do???....

Plonking here for a progress report

1) Liz Earle - Cleanse and Polish
love this, will repurchase but have got lots of cleansers to use up first

2) Clinique - Clarifying Lotion
an old faithful - have used this for years and currently using Nip & Fab Dragons Blood pads in place of this

  1. Clinique - Take the Day Off

4) Estee Lauder - ANR Eye Cream
THE BEST!! loved it. Can't afford it. Probably not free of nasties though so need to look for an alternative

5) Elemis - Pro Coll. Marine Cream
A staple - have at least 4 of these to use up

6) Branche D'Olive - Shampoo
Freebie - bit meh

7) Branche D'Olive - Conditioner
Freebie - bit meh

  1. Avon - Premiere Blush Perfume
  2. Lancome - Lion D'Or Eyeshadow

10) Lancome - Black Eyeliner Pencil
I appear to have lost this but there was a tiny bit left so I am going to count this as used up - if I'd sharpened it once more it would have been used up

  1. Soap and Glory - Butter Me Up
  2. Soap and Glory - Hand Cream

mrs is bold what you have used up? Great job!!! StarStarStar
join me join me in advent madness!!!

kwick · 15/11/2016 09:04

LE hair oil has cyclopentasiloxane in it Sad

IPokeBadgers · 15/11/2016 15:00

Have finished an M&S Autograph Ultimate Wear Cream Shadow Stick: I love these but wish they would expand the colour range. I killed off the dark brown which I mainly used as a liner....also have a slate grey one nearly finished but cant quite bring myself to bin it, even though it cant be sharpened anymore to use as eyeliner and it is too dark (for me) to wear as an all over lid colour.

I keep these shadow sticks in my desk drawer as they are a super quick eye makeup for mornings when I don't get to do anything at home. Bought as a cheap alternative to the Bobbi Brown shadow sticks which I just couldn't justify to myself...would love a purple in the M&S one though!

mowglik · 15/11/2016 15:08

Lots of progress here, I'm like the tortoise of the thread

I have 2 more empties from my xmas list:
Skin food Rice Scrub - this was a large decant, the bits were so soft I couldn't even count it as a scrub. Wont RP
Madara Time Renewal Serum - I have lots of backups for different items but not many serums left- going to try and finish them up then get the P&P serum from No7.

Have also thrown/given away lots of makeup - couple of maybelline mascaras, eye brow pencils and MAC pigments to be given to a younger cousin as they are too jazzy for me now :/

All this using up has inspired me to join the no spend 2017 club, I'm sure I have enough beauty/makeup stuff to last me at least until the middle of next year!

kwick · 15/11/2016 20:13

Let's hope M&S are reading this thread eh badgers Wink if they are can they please bring back their Sun Smart aftersun gel Grin
kwick desperate to go and look at shadow sticks now

mow this is not a race!!!! Just a lovely support network... a bit like AA but for beauty product addicts Grin
Great progress!

MrsDilligaf · 15/11/2016 21:16

Duh!! What a plant pot I am! Yes...the bold ones are the ones I've used up - feel very proud of my efforts.

I'm trying really hard not to even look at advent calendars because I just know I will want one (or three 😆)

I might have to dig your list out Kwick - the one which was nasties free and in fact when we hit thread 4 we should stick that on the first post.

Empty - Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip balm stuff.

Nice enough but wouldn't repurchase for myself.

woodhill · 15/11/2016 21:49

Love the real techniques brushes but only used brush cleaner with them.

ememem84 · 16/11/2016 07:42

Finished clarins multi active day lotion. Yay!

This is a staple for me so have another in the cupboard to start tomorrow. Down to 8 to use up before Christmas.

kwick · 16/11/2016 07:49

Yay I finished one of my 12 by Christmas!!!
Fresh & Go anti-frizz hair mask - sold to me by my hairdresser... okay but not amazeballs like I wanted. Already have another hair mask on the go.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 16/11/2016 16:08

Get one Diligaf you know you want to. Wink Join me and Kwick in our advent fog of new products.
And I want badgers shadow sticks. I have a Rosie one but creases badly. However they are my holy grail products so will keep searching.
I am not really entering the spirit of this thread am I?

FrustratedFrugal · 16/11/2016 16:30

AA for beauty product addicts

I agree this is not a race. Or if it is, remember what happened to the tortoise and the hare Wink

It will take a decade to use up some of my products. I've just found two shower gels bought in 2008 - they have survived three house moves

I've also come up with a new eye make up look (very dark eyes, pale lips) based on the bitter brown eye shadow that I am trying to finish and two other products (nude lipstick and this pure pigment eye shadow). Despite having a streaming cold I felt very glamorous today Wink
