I may just have done my DDs Halloween makeup using my Chanel eye shadow. Wink

MotherofPearl · 30/10/2016 15:07

Five, I'm certainly guilty of stashing cleaning products too. I like to have a spare of a spare for pretty much each thing! Blush
Frugal, surely that's cheating! Actually I got DP to help me use up my L'Occitane shower cream on hols last week, so I'm hardly one to talk. Anything to make a dent in the interminable stash.
I must confess: I've been on the Clinique website and indulged in a pressed powder and a cleansing milk. Spent enough to get some free minis too. Curses.

FrustratedFrugal · 30/10/2016 17:40

MyNight welcome! A purchase-free year sounds really, really impressive! And money saved is not trivial either...

Most of my stash can be tracked back to 2012-15 - I lived abroad and had gone back to work in a role that required quite a bit of travel I was also quite stressed out, tried to cut down spending on clothes, but still wanted to buy some 'souvenirs'. I like lots of what I bought but definitely went overboard...

FrustratedFrugal · 30/10/2016 17:43

MotherofPearl Grin I tried to convince DH to help me with the revolting Dove Blue Fig shower gel. He said he'd be happy to help but only needs to replace a shower gel every eight years or so... So it might take some time...

MyNightWithMaud · 30/10/2016 17:46

Thank you for the welcome.

For my bathroom stash, I was finally driven to action because there was no much in the (free-standing) cupboard that, when I shut the door, the back fell off! I have also not bought any new clothes this year, with a huge get-out clause for charity shop bargains. I'm also decluttering the house in a long overdue shift away from hoarding towards minimalism. Getting rid of stuff is beginning to feel quite liberating!

MyNightWithMaud · 30/10/2016 17:47

So much, obviously.

Trundle13 · 30/10/2016 18:29

Hello! Have lurked on this thread through all three of its incarnations, thanks all for ongoing inspiration!

After emptying three products this weekend, I feel like I can't not join in!

  • Body Shop Rainforest Volume shampoo - not convinced had an effect on volume, but lovely scent & good value & SLS-free, may repurchase once next two shampoos/random sample sachets used up
  • Superdrug dry shampoo - old - nothing special but did the job
  • Superdrug eye make-up remover - my proudest achievement, this has been with me for over four years (and two house moves!), surviving despite a broken lid...farewell, old friend...looking forward to trying maybe an M&S one now though
kwick · 30/10/2016 19:11

mynight wow wow wow!!! You go girl!!! Welcome!!! You are an inspiration!!!

Top tip frustrated fanks Grin

I often pass things on to my SIL

Welcome trundle!!

the M&S advent calendar available soon

Two more empties:

  • Glamglow thirsty mud mask - the only Glamglow product I have used that I have actually liked... may repurchase one day (ie after entire stash is used up)
  • Aromatherapy Associates light relax bath and shower oil - I needed to use this up before next fertility treatment as it contains rosemary. It not feel that hydrating... but I am lightly relaxed Grin

Will be passing on 3 products from 13 for Halloween list to 12 by Christmas list (so it will be 15 by Christmas), but I still feel good about finishing up some right stragglers and energised for new list.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 30/10/2016 20:00

maud you are an inspiration! Well done everyone
I finished a batiste dry shampoo but will buy again as love the one for blondes. Have one other to use up first though.

Really want a Chanel quad too. But also lusting after Tom ford one when I get rid of some I never use as tend to use chubby crayons for quickness.
frustrated did you not once post a picture of your amazing shadow collection or am I confusing you? Please share again if you did!
five I was a cleaning product hoarder too but managed to pair down this year too. But still too many bottles under various sinks. And want zoflora now too!

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 30/10/2016 20:01

Oh yeah and bought 2 small shower gels in lush. But I love the xmas scents in children's bath! Blush

applesandpears33 · 30/10/2016 20:19

You've all inspired me to make my own ten by Christmas list

  1. Body Shop aloe vera facial exfoliator
  2. Bar of soap (I must have enough soap and shower gel to keep me going for at least two years)
  3. Boots Number 7 double cleansing lotion
  4. Burts Bees almond milk hand lotion
  5. Protect and Perfect Intense day moisturiser
  6. Chain Bridge Honey Farm moisturiser
  7. Boots Glycerin Rosewater - I use this as a toner
  8. Clinique lip pop
  9. Clinique lipstick
10. Number 7 face powder

I'm not sure I'll manage to finish all of them, but at least I've got a target.

MyNightWithMaud · 30/10/2016 20:28

Do call me Maud, kwick (which autocorrect just tried to amend to knickers, by the way!)

The reality is that I dislike housework, don't have much time to do it anyway, and decided the way to keep this house in better order was simply to have less stuff. I also used to spend far much time online shopping. I'm the typical person who wears 15% of their wardrobe 80% of the time (or whatever that old statistic is) so I'm quite enjoying thinning out my wardrobe and rediscovering neglected favourites.

applesandpears33 · 30/10/2016 20:39

I've just counted up the number of empties that I've listed on this thread and I've done better than I thought - ten used up and one thrown out.

WellTidy · 31/10/2016 09:40

So, Its Halloween today! I hope everyone is pleased with their 13 by Halloween progress. I finished 10, and I'm delighted with that. Making in roads on my 12 by Christmas, and also tackling my sachet stash in parallel.

Yes, we have masses of cleaning products too. I like to have the basics in every room that there is a sink, so I have multiples of everything as well as a stash. Ridiculous as I am not brand loyal when it comes to cleaning products, so there would be no great drama attached to running low.

I also stash scented candles, but I am ploughing through those now too. I'm trying to reduce my stash in hope that I might receive some as Christmas gifts.

My 12 by Christmas (I think I posted my list earlier, I hope I did, I need to be held accountable) is made up mostly of beauty box, GWP and travel minis. I found the summer M&S beauty box hidden away a few weeks ago having completely forgotten I'd needed it.

dogdaydisaster · 31/10/2016 10:53

Hi all
Just back from a weekend away and plenty of empties to report.

Hourglass palette finally gone, this was nice and glowy but sooo expensive.

Lavender shower gel, not sure of the brand as I got it in Belgium in a cheap set as a raffle prize.

Elemis cleansing balm travel size tub- one of my favourites. Have washed out the tub for future trips.

Liz Earle superskin moisturiser travel size -a lovely cream, have washed out ths pot as well.

I have also binned the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara as I can't be doing with the panda eyes it creates.

I also finished a tub of nip and fab glycolic fix pads, which are a staple.

So 6 of my 12 for advent are done already. I may add more to the list top keep me going; there are some cleansers I could tackle.

I may have had a mini splurge too in the duty free on my way home. I had a tarte lipstick that I love but the formula was so soft it drove me mad, and I may have found the same shade in a chanel version Blush

Cockblocktopus · 31/10/2016 13:23

Can I join please? I bought another foundation stick this weekend and realised I need help.

MyNightWithMaud · 31/10/2016 14:14

So how many foundations do you have now? ::wink::

Cockblocktopus · 31/10/2016 14:17

I think 5 off the top of my head Blush

mowglik · 31/10/2016 14:23

So I had one more item to finish for Halloween 13, and I did, though it wasn't the cetaphil that will not die on my list, I finished a bottle of waterest water oil essence - I really like this for winter as it locks in moisture without being oily or greasy. Will not repurchase for now though until I look through my stash for something that can do a similar job

Woohoo So now my 12 for Xmas, these are near finished so hoping to surpass 12, though I need to work hard on some of these items:

Madara time Renewal serum
Molton Brown coco and sandalwood lotion
Miss Flower and mr honey cream
Cetaphil cleanser
Cussons Bump and me shampoo

John Frieda touchably full conditioner
Face shop Rice scrub
Laneige water sleeping mask
Laura mercier hydrating primer
MAC strobe cream
UDPP eye primer
Pure coconut oil tub

FrustratedFrugal · 31/10/2016 17:14

Fabulous Mowglik! Well done!

I am working on finishing an ancient brownish red Max Factor lipstick. It's a bit drying. Just a tiny bit left. Will persist.

FrustratedFrugal · 31/10/2016 17:22

Dogday I'm very impressed. That you used up a Hourglass palette! Wow!
And Usernameinfinito, I'm speechless!

And congrats everyone - Happy Halloween! Thank you for joining the 13 by Halloween challenge - we've collectively used up a ton of product!

This is what Halloween looks like around here - we went for the minimalistic no make up look! It all ended in tears, I accidentally used extra waterproof black eye pencil

Ashamed of my beauty product hoard - Part 3
FrustratedFrugal · 31/10/2016 17:32

Cockblocktopus welcome -

Just a quick count, I have 3 powder foundations, 3 liquid foundations, 3 BB creams and 2 BB cream cushions. Eleven different options Plus a bunch of samples and two jars of loose powder and a mini of Guerlain meteorites. And I have probably forgotten to include something.

Do you still want to stay? Wink

ememem84 · 31/10/2016 19:16

I have seven items left on my Halloween list. Am rolling them forwards to Christmas.
