hiya, been in assignment and presentation world the last week or so. Just finished my presentation today so if I have passed that is all the academic stuff done, I intend not to study again ever (until I top uo to my masters in a year or so). I am getting a bit excited by all the pokemon tattoos about at the moment.
I bet tattoo Jam will be cool, I looked at it but it is when we are away. Sheffield has a tattoo convention in Novemeber but they haven;t got an artist list yet.
Glad dove has healed well, kitty seems to have also thrived on neglect Blush

Crazy dita doing a masters! What do you want to do it in? Fingers crossed for passing! How exciting!

eggs I'm just dreading it. It's been way too hot today. I feel like a failure already. I emailed about PT sessions so we shall see

dita have you not just done a dissertation? I'm so confused. My brain doesn't work any more so just ignore me if I'm being mental.

I'm planning, or thinking about planning a tattoo to represent my sister... Does anyone have any ideas?

Report
ditavonteesed · 20/07/2016 06:06

No I didn't have to do a dissertation, I'm doing post grad diploma course so it's two thirds of a masters like the old diploma used to be two thirds of a degree iyswim.
Tell us about your sister.
Rggs and Bluebelee are you suggesting you went to the gym yesterday, that is seriously hardcore well done. M y mum has a pt and I just tag along.

I haven't been yet. I keep wimping out :( yesterday was too bloody hot.

My sister is a teacher. She has been amazing since I lost Jonah. We used to have a Wendy house that my mum called Anemone Cottage, because we are Anna and Emily... I was thinking maybe some anemones but I don't know.

Oo the PT has just emailed me.

Ahh I see dita I didn't know that existed! That's good.

I've mentioned before on here we're a family of Star Wars costumers. DD (19) is the only one without a Star Wars related tattoo. We've been at the Excel this weekend for the Star Wars Celebration and they had Lucas Licensed tattooists. As DD cosplays Leia she had this designed for her and inked by an amazing American artist called Brandi Smart. It's so bloody cute it sets my teeth on edge Grin. It was given a thumbs up by Carrie Fisher herself so I have a very happy DD now.

Of course, now I've seen this I need my own Leia!

Bluebelle Karen is amazing. You will know what I mean if you go to her. Yes it is too hot. And at NFV all the lawnmowers are out making a racket lol!

I really like tattoo conventions. Generally a really good atmosphere. I'm booked in for my next tattoo and then I'm going to get my piercing. Then I will try and leave it for a while!!

The good thing at the gym at the mo is it is quiet due to the weather being good, so if you can't be arsed with loads of folk then now is an okay time to go. Being truthful a big part of me hates the gym but I feel I need to do it, you know?

Who are you going to have do your tribute tattoo?

Did you see the cupcake I've booked in with Donna eggs? What piercing are you getting? I'm desperate for my tongue doing but I'm just such a wimp! Or a smiley.

jinkx I take it you are a fellow Drag Race fan. I was going to start a thread for it but Mumsnet probably isn't the right place for it!

Grin I only discovered Drag Race this year on Netflix but it quickly became one of my favourite shows of all time. I used to love America's Next Top Model but Drag Race is vastly superior.

Back on topic - tattoo booked for August 6th!

bluebelle2662 · 21/07/2016 23:03

jinkx I discovered in on Netflix too, when I had just had my little boy... I just wish I could see seasons 7 and 8! I've see half of 7 on YouTube but that's it and I'm gutted!

My tattoo is booked for 12th August. No idea where to get it! She's doing a tiny anchor on my wrist too.

In two weeks' time I'll have my tattoo! I'm really excited!

I need some tips though, because my first tattoo was tiny and took minutes. I'm not too worried about the pain because I had a baby without drugs and, although it was horrendous and I refused to do it again (hurrah for elective sections!) I got through it and didn't die. So what do you do for pain? And what do you wear? Mine will be on my back so a bra will be in the way. I see plenty of lithe young women on Instagram taping kitchen roll to their boobs, but I'm 35 and saggy and I can't do that Grin I was thinking one of those M&S secret support vests which can be hitched up out of the way?

Report
bluebelle2662 · 24/07/2016 06:33

What are you getting Jinkx ? Sorry if you've said and I've missed it. When I got my tattoo on my back I just undid my bra and rolled my top off and then went straight home looking a bit saggy but I can appreciate not everyone wants to do that lol a support vest sounds like a good idea.

Report
bluebelle2662 · 24/07/2016 06:34

And I don't do anything for the pain, maybe take some paracetamol?

Report
doctorboo · 24/07/2016 07:12

jinkx I took off my top and bra for mine and when I went home I did the back up but left my right bra strap off (tucked in to the band). The was covered up with film so it was protected and was fine for me to hop on the train (1.5hrs) to get home.
My guy, Dor Stocker - who is going to Tattoo Jam(!!) said to have 24-48hrs bra free once I got home because of the straps irritating Smile.

JinkxMonsoon · 24/07/2016 10:29

Oh I don't think I'll take any painkillers, I'm hoping to tough it out on bravado alone. And maybe visualising lying on a beach if it's feeling particularly sore Wink

I was thinking that bras might chafe during healing doctorboo. I'm not exactly blessed in the boob department so I should get away with it.

I'm getting a bird surrounded by flowers bluebelle. I've surprised myself by going for colour, because I used to think that I preferred black work, but I've been won over by Harriet Heath's traditional style.

I have been following this thread because I love seeing other tattoos. I have been debating getting one for years but was never sure what to get or where but getting closer to making a decision! I do have questions though which you maybe able to help with.

I have been looking at Pinterest and have seen a couple I really like, but I guess it's wrong to just ask a tattoo artist to just copy because of copyright? Should I go with them as ideas and ask for their interpretation?

Also, would I have to book them to do it before asking for their ideas?

Lastly do any of you have experience of white ink tattoos? The ones I like are simple black lines but I kind of like the more subtle look of white ink. Still lots to consider before taking the plunge!

Report
JinkxMonsoon · 25/07/2016 15:05

Some tattoo artists don't care about copying other people's work. Good tattooists wouldn't dream of it.

Depends what you're looking for really. Instagram is a great place to find artists. I recommend searching around until you find someone whose style you really like, and from there you can start narrowing down what you want.

JinkxMonsoon · 25/07/2016 15:06

As for white ink, I think it's a bit faddy and the longevity is probably quite poor.

Report
bluebelle2662 · 25/07/2016 18:24

White ink won't last. And tattoo artists won't just draw their ideas without payment. And as Jinkx said, the good ones won't copy another design.

Sorry, that sounded really harsh. I'm about to go to the gym for the first time and I'm panicking a little bit in the car park :(

Pinterest and Instagram are great for research.

Don't worry, didn't sound harsh! It's good to be able to ask people like you who know what's what! Good luck at the gym. May be daunting but hopefully you'll get a good post-exercise buzz!
