I hope I have remembered the chosen title correctly - I have used Crem's title (think it was Crem's) as the old thread is full.

Herbs - will be fab to have lots of time en famille in the summer but eek re new job on horizon.

Inspired by CV and Rose I have put 10 things on Ebay. They range from size 10 to 16. WTF.

DP drove from our SE6 gaff to Gatwick, so yes it was nice to be met rather than do it by train at 11pm.

I haven't done much today but have put my minimum daily 500 on the page and some useful reading. And eaten crisps.

Auriga · 30/05/2016 17:27

I am working (lots of catching up with report-writing) with occasional breaks to read a bit of War and Peace. DD has gone Up Town to see Taming of the Shrew at the Globe & sleep over with friends. Feel as though there's something else I should be doing, can't think what.

CointreauVersial · 30/05/2016 18:04

Living near Gatwwick we are often called upon by various far-flung family members to act as a meet-and-greet/long stay parking service. Incidentally, we have just looked into parking charges for our three weeks in the US is August, and concluded we'll be hitch-hiking there. Actually, our office parking is right next to one of the stations in Dorking, so we'll probably dump the car there and get the train to the airport.

at the thought of 60cm of hanging space. I have about 3m and it's all wedged in. That's not including the coats/jackets or the 2m rail in the loft.

Anyway, have had a productive afternoon in Kingston, found gifts for DD1 (earrings, posh mascara), DH (Zara jumper); clothes for DS (jeans, shorts), some bits and bobs for me (considerably less posh mascara Hmm). I also got my eyebrows threaded (major deforestation required; I'm surprised she didn't slap on a surcharge). And this dress just slipped into my bag - yes, it's Per Una. I don't really need more clothes (see above) but it looked really nice on and will be nice and cool for Cali.

herbaceous · 30/05/2016 18:11

Nice dress, CV. All my clothes are wedged in so tightly that ironing is futile, as they get creased instantly. I also can't see what I've got, even if 80% of it is too small. As is the case at present. DP has thus far insisted the problem is that I have too many clothes, rather than too little wardrobe, so I see today's purchase as a major victory.

Coats etc will probably end up on a rail in the loft, too.

NUFC69 · 30/05/2016 18:21

We have been shopping, too: present sorted for DSis's DGD, and DH came away with a posh casual jacket, two shirts and two t shirts. I ended up with six pairs of socks.

It's now beautiful here - the sun has come out for the first time today.

Cremo · 30/05/2016 18:54

Herbs, that hanging space is hardly enough for your coat collection -lolGrin
We have my granny's ginormous Georgian wardrobe, which has two compartments. Still not q enough hanging space for us both, so winter and summer gear ha to be swapped out twice a year. I have a one in , one out policy thanks to eBay, the exception being a gorgeous Boden Jacket that I'm planning to be buried in.

Need a stretcher after the gardening marathon.
Off to get scrubbed up for dnieces birthday party. She is 16. Bless her.

herbaceous · 30/05/2016 18:57

Current unsatisfactory arrangement.

Cripes Herbs! I yearn for a walk-in wardrobe Smile

Well done to the shoppers, workers and gardeners. I am bravely soldiering through the outlaw experience.

NUFC69 · 30/05/2016 20:24

I also yearn for a walk in wardrobe: DDiL has one now in their bedroom. Envy

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/05/2016 21:31

I have a walk in wardrobe simply because DH has taken the doors off and propped them up against the remains of the shower he has ripped out nearly three years ago.

CointreauVersial · 30/05/2016 21:50

Oh MrsS, your DH is so special!

bigTillyMint · 30/05/2016 21:56

He must have other talentsWink

Stropperella · 30/05/2016 22:21

We have an entire wall of wardrobe and it needs to be condemned. I may even have mentioned it before, as it is a special highlight of our internal decor. It is an artefact left by the previous owners of the house and is made of a random collection of old bits of wood and mdf probably collected from skips and then cobbled together in an interesting and 'creative' fashion. Screws stick out of it in places, whilst apparently not actually holding anything together. There are also chunks missing, where the (clearly highly skilled) artisan cut a bit of mdf out and then obviously had a rethink about what was to go where but decided to press on anyway. The previous owner of the house proudly told me that it had been built by a carpenter. I told this to a friend of mine when she had the misfortune to see said wardrobe, and she responded, "Oh which Carpenter would that have been? Karen?"

bigTillyMint · 30/05/2016 22:26

Grin Karen Carpenter!

Watching some bizarre film at the outlaws - not at all the usual thing grandad watches. The World's End ConfusedConfusedConfusedGrin

Cremo · 30/05/2016 22:30

Christonbike Mrs S, get a woman/man in and present the invoice to Dh.
Angry on your behalf. When are you flying out Hmm

Grin @Stropps

GiddyGiddyGoat · 30/05/2016 22:33

Ds2 was at Wembley too with his dgf, uncle and cousin. My dad came back here for supper and has just gone - all v nice but rather hampered my plans of lounging on a sofa watching bad tv...

Saw Love and Friendship at the cinema this afternoon - surprisingly good and very funny. Thoroughly recommended.

Ds1 had his first end of year exam at University today - on a Bank Holiday??!!??. Says it went OK. Please send him Crepey good vibes.

Glad you're on the mend Stropps. Poor you Auriga. Hope you survive the outlaws visit BTM. Good shopping CV! Wardrobe triumph Herbs. All my clothes and dh's are currently in s1's bedroom while we have builders in... if they don't pull their fingers out they'll still be there when he comes home....

herbaceous · 30/05/2016 23:05

I shall be needing your collective wisdom and virtual hand holding later this week, crepes. My mum is going into hospital tomorrow to hear s new knee, and sis and I are taking it in turns to look after dad. Sis is on the first shift, and texted me just now to say he's worse than ever, and didn't recognise her. And is in a right state about mum's operation, keeps asking what he's done wrong, etc. This evokes two emotions: 1 crying at choir during a sad song about a man who was beautiful but is now gone, and 2 irrational anger at his 'poor me' schtick. I'll be going up Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

Sis is tackling cleaning the house, round one, which has included removing some liquid veg.

motherinferior · 31/05/2016 07:50

Herbs, so sorry. And hope you are OK, BD.

I didn't do very much at the weekend and am sleeping vv badly again, which is wearing. But not really surprising. Mum's funeral on Thursday. Looks like it'll be cold and I will have to change clothing plans...

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/05/2016 08:28

Oh Herbs, that sounds grim. I'm sorry.

My flight has been delayed, I have a short connection time and am getting stressed.

Lalsy · 31/05/2016 08:39

Herbs, really grim. Many strength of the crepies vibes to you.

And best of luck to The Kid, GGG.

magimedi · 31/05/2016 08:53

Flowers Herbs. I remember the totally irrational anger I felt at my Mum whne she had dementia - it's horrible, but perfectly normal. I think that it is very hard to accept becoming the parent to ones parent.

Rosebag · 31/05/2016 09:47

herbs I think it really came home to me how bad DDad was when DM had to go in to hospital for the best part of a week and I was on DDad duty. We got a live in carer to do the nights but it was quite a strain. However actually what I wasn't so prepared for was the time after DM came out of hospital and I was dealing with both of them. If there's any advice, I'd say prepare for that ( my DM had a revision of a previous knee replacement) . The collective drove me absolutely nuts. Good luck Flowers

Gosh mrsS I hope you're on board as I type. If you miss the connection, well, you'll just have to get the next one. Breathe...breathe... Flowers

Best of luck to DS, GGG. Sure he will do you all proud.

I like that dress Cv. I think Per Una is like any where else really. There are some gems and I'm not sure why the main board universally condemn it. My favourite ever top comes from Per Una

How long are you at the outlaws for, tilly ? I couldn't stay with mine...Id be eating my own eyes. Grin

Does any one have a quick fix for really bad acid reflux? It's a tendency of mine, when under stress mixed with over indulgence and eating too much wheat, and this attack has been coming on for a couple of weeks. I usually head it off at the pass with sensible eating and gaviscon but this time I just ignored it. Stupidly. Have just started on ranitidine but any clever fixes would be gratefully received. DH is boarding a plane to Houston, Texas as I type and I'm still at the coast. Hmm

herbaceous · 31/05/2016 10:00

We've organised a carer to look after mum after she comes home, thankfully. Tho no doubt dad will find this confusing. The hope is that mum will realise the benefit of having a carer in every day and 'allow' her to stay on once she's better, for an hour or so a day.

Thanks for reassurance that what I'm feeling is normal, and I'm not an ogre. Sis is being much more green up about t, despite being younger.

magimedi · 31/05/2016 10:30

You are not an ogre - & don't forget it's easy for your sis to sound grown up - she may well be feeling just the same as you at times.

Rose - I cured my acid reflux by stopping having tea first thing in the morning, ie on an empty stomach.

bigTillyMint · 31/05/2016 10:31

Herbs, big sympathy Flowers
And you MI Flowers

We are on the way to DMs - phew! And it's sunny!
