I hope I have remembered the chosen title correctly - I have used Crem's title (think it was Crem's) as the old thread is full.

Herbs - will be fab to have lots of time en famille in the summer but eek re new job on horizon.

Inspired by CV and Rose I have put 10 things on Ebay. They range from size 10 to 16. WTF.

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/06/2016 13:39

X ray...

bigTillyMint · 12/06/2016 13:42

toes fingers crossed for you!

Blackduck · 12/06/2016 13:54

Ouch MrsS (why did you kick a box, or should that be why was the box in the way.....)

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 12/06/2016 14:19

Ouch Mrs S Shock

Was lovely to see Mr and Mrs Addle and young Mr Addle (who was adopted by lovely friends of dd1).

Very good evening had by all, so we're all a bit tired and emotional today. Dh has retired to bed, after peaking too early on the tidying up stakes! Dogs are equally kippered.

So sorry to hear of parental worries, Herbs. It's such a lot to juggle. Agree with videos for Monday's students, they'll manage.

We might have to go for junk food later Blush

herbaceous · 12/06/2016 14:32

Hi all. Well, I had a mere single Nytol at 10pm, was briefly disturbed by arrival of cat, but slept through until 7. Thought I'd just 'close my eyes' for a minute, and it was 9am!

Looked into parents' room, and they were sleeping soundly. Looked in again at 9.30, and was greeted with 'I haven't even had any breakfast yet'. Luckily, by then sis had arrived so I ran away home, to be taken out for a roast lunch by DP.

Sadly can't let the learners watch videos all lesson. Tempting though it is...

motherinferior · 12/06/2016 15:27

Even chemical Nytol only worked briefly for me I am clearly too hardened to drugs. On way home. Feeling uncharacteristically fond of Mr Inferior Grin

herbaceous · 12/06/2016 16:35

I think chemical Byron is merely antihistamine, which doesn't help with anxiety, etc. The herbal one has soothing it so in, such as valerian.

Dreamqueen · 12/06/2016 16:38

hello Crepeys
i'm lurking on here, occasionly making comments. I can't keep up but have Flowers and Wine for you all. i have total admiration for all those dealing with aged parents.
Thats really all I have to contribute. you all sound like such strong women that I'm slightly in awe. Been for a slightly alcoholic lunch so apologies

motherinferior · 12/06/2016 16:50

I'd like a chemical Byron, Herbs. Wink

NUFC69 · 12/06/2016 16:51

How are you doing, MrsS? Definitely sounds like a break, but not sure what they can do.

Herbs, glad to hear that you had a good night's sleep as did your DPs. Enjoy your time now with DP and DS.

Very envious of the camping trip to Beachy's. It sounds lovely.

Am very shocked by the killings at the gay bar in Orlando and feel quite sick to be honest.

herbaceous · 12/06/2016 17:04

I am not a strong woman, DQ. I feel like a frightened small girl. But there is no choice. I have to deal with it, with my sis, as they cannot. It's horrible.

A chemical Byron. Now you're talking.

Lalsy · 12/06/2016 17:08

NU, me too.

Chemical Byron - were can we get one?

Dreamqueen · 12/06/2016 17:31

Herbs forgive me but I beg to differ, i've lurked on here and made occasional posts but you are a very strong woman who is coming with exceptional stuff (as are many other crepeys) i don't post often but lurk. I get great strength reading about how you cope with "stuff" Don't sell yourself short.

Dreamqueen · 12/06/2016 17:32

Whats a chemical Byron? sounds interesting?

motherinferior · 12/06/2016 17:35

Reckon it's Herbs' phone doing a poetic autocorrect for Nytol.

bigTillyMint · 12/06/2016 17:40

Grin I was thinking of the burger chain Grin

GGG, what's the plan for Thursday? It is Thursday, isn't it?!

Stropperella · 12/06/2016 17:47

A chemical Byron: madder, badder and more dangerous to know.

You're doing bloody well, Herbs. I have my fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for your dm.

motherinferior · 12/06/2016 17:50

Actually having seen their pics in the NPG I'd like a chemical Shelley. Without the abandoning pregnant teenage first wife and then suggesting SIL joins your elopement and then subsequently drowning bits.

herbaceous · 12/06/2016 17:51

< weeps > Don't be nice to me. It makes me go all feeble.

I just wish work wasn't shit as well. And DP's work wasn't shit. And his mum wasn't dying.

I have to admit, I was rather relying on my inheritance as a pension. And now it looks as though they're going to spend it all on care. So I'd better get my career act together. Working in FE for a tenner a day is not going to keep me in clover.

herbaceous · 12/06/2016 17:56

< wobble continued > But I haven't got time to sort out a new career, write my Grammar for Parents course, etc, as I spend every weekend mopping wee and making endless cups of tea that don't get drunk. And MNing, of course.

'Byron' was natch an ipad autocorrect of 'nytol', but I think I prefer it. A soothing poet stroking one's forehead of a fretful evening would go like hot cakes off the shelves in Boots.

hattymattie · 12/06/2016 18:30

Wasn't Byron into his chemicals anyway - stronger ones than Nytol or am I muddling him.

Just heard about Orlando shootings. What is wrong with people? Sadly a guy called Omar is responsible - I fear the ensuing backlash and the strength that it is going to lend to the Trump campaign.

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/06/2016 18:41

Was I the only person who thought "burgers" with the mention of Byron? BlushBlush

Foot now throbbing madly and have an appointment at the fracture clinic next week. I don't think I have had a month this year that hasn't seen me in hospital for something or other. July is back to the melanoma clinic, so keep your fingers crossed for August. Or is that tempting fate?

Herbs, can you start to apply for "proper jobs" (ie ones that are going to pay you what you're worth) now, to start in September? I know you don't need extra stress right now, but could you knock your CV into shape (or get someone else to) and draft a generic letter of application which you can easily modify? Can any of us help?

bigTillyMint · 12/06/2016 18:44

No, MrsS - see my post!

Sorry to hear your toe is poorly - was it one of MrS's packing away boxes?

herbaceous · 12/06/2016 18:48

I bet it was one of Mr S's boxes, in a plan to be able to say 'well then, I'd better not do any more sorting if it's going to injure you'.

Re career, I feel I need something that fits in with DS and school, at least a bit. Going back to what I did before - editing magazines - would be tricky, as it's very long days, which don't allow for leaving in time for collection even from teatime clubs. I could go back and be more junior, but not sure I'd like that much.

Hence retraining to be a teacher. One hope is that I could become a trainer for the Plain English Campaign, or some such, but I have yet to ask them as too scared they'll say no!
