I'm wearing each item in my wardrobe to see if I still like it

Today is an Xmas gift from my DM. On paper, it should work. It's a dark and flowery dress - scuba material, and I tend to love anything floral

In reality, it rides up with every step I take and the armholes are funny

It's gone after today!

Anybody else want to join me?

Not posted for a while - 3 dresses are going in the charity bag. None of them fit quite right and they are all uncomfortable to wear all day at work

drspouse · 02/06/2016 19:58

Oh I forgot I also tried on a Jigsaw skirt that won't do up. Charity bag...

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/06/2016 20:00

Today was a weird day, weather-wise. Freezing this morning, then quite warm, and now quite cold again.

I'm now in (whispers) leggings (these are only worn in the house!) and I've dig out an old linen longer length cardigan, which I was pleased to rediscover.

Earlier I was in jeans, a jumper and a biker - all keepers.

hippiedays · 02/06/2016 20:30

I pulled one dress out of the charity bag that I was indecisiveness about to try again. I wore it all day, i found it uncomfortable and was sort of embarrassed wearing it. It is back in the charity pile for good.

ARichVernacular · 03/06/2016 09:03

Yesterday I wore a pair of white spotty leather Vans which I like but which seem to hate my feet Hmm However, tried not lacing them up so tight and the ankle-rubbing effect was mitigated, so they can stay. I am determined to break the bastards in.

Today I am at work with hardly anyone else here, so have treated myself to pyjama clothes Grin Dark blue floral harems, black vest, trainers and a black jumper that really shouldn't be as useful as it is - it's from Next, it's got a strange square neck and plenty of unnatural fibres - but it does work and washes easily, so I'm keeping it.

CaptainWarbeck · 03/06/2016 09:12

This thread has inspired me to chuck a load of stuff I was hanging on to for no good reason other than I liked it when I bought it/soft material/nice label etc... much more streamlined now and my clothes drawers are a lot lighter.

Also started putting the 'keepers' of my clothes in an app (pureple at the moment since its free) so I can actually see what I've got and save some outfits together to save time later on. Makes me realise what I've got loads of and what I legitimately could add in when I go shopping.

Also very much enjoying swebby's instagram although can't believe how many clothes she has! Major wardrobe envy!

trevortrevorslatterfry · 03/06/2016 09:57

I've got another victory to report today!
I've got a patterned tunic on but am wearing it as a top with a skirt over the top and it works! Another one back in circulation.
At this rate I won't need to buy any more clothes for ages.

Also loving swebby's instagram - I have been humming and ha-ing about a green dress from Jeetly and now I know it could go with pink accessories too I may take the plunge.

Have a great weekend all. I shall keep the plan going tomorrow with a never-worn shapeless khaki/olive shirt - will give it a go as a layer over a vest / under a denim jacket but I am pretty sure it's on its way out.

drspouse · 03/06/2016 10:13

Another indecisive day here. Started out with a lacy top from Pepperberry that goes with a camisole under, but it's really work/going out, so switched to a Uniqlo printed t-shirt (new, right size, good fit) and on top a Next floral jumper via a charity shop that is just lovely. Boden boyfriend jeans on the bottom.

I now have two pairs of jeans that fit and two that don't really but I'm keeping as motivation. The two that fit are Boden boyfriend (well, girlfriend) and a Fatface pair. Both of these styles are still available and neither brand has anything similar (my other jeans are both Boden, same size, but tighter fit). I refuse to buy an identical pair of jeans as a third pair but two that fit isn't really enough.

What other brands might be similar? Jeans are really hard too because the sizes aren't standard. I'm size 10 in both of those styles.

trevortrevorslatterfry · 03/06/2016 12:02

Ooh! ooh! someone just complimented my outfit!
Thanks to this thread! I normally just wear sameold sameold but am so glad I've branched out now Smile

Watching with interest on your jeans query drspouse. I have one pair I love but they are wearing thin in the arse department and I can't bear to go shopping for more.

ARichVernacular · 03/06/2016 13:15

I only have one pair of jeans Shock I just hate trouser shopping so much - as a relatively short person with a (nice) round arse, it seems impossible to find stuff that fits AND flatters. But I do need more jeans. Am eyeing up the Hush boyfriend ones...

drspouse · 04/06/2016 14:05

H&M linen jeans I'd forgotten I had, with yet another print Uniqlo t-shirt, today. I tried them on this morning with a fuchsia cotton cardigan I bought in an emergency and DH said it looked "old". As he's a bloke I took him literally and said "but it's brand new". No he says, you look like someone who's trying to look younger. Maybe your mum will like it?

And he was right Shock. He does have dress sense. He has always been really into photography so I think his reasonably good eye for clothes stems from that. it certainly doesn't from his own dress sense as he wears black grey or navy exclusively.

Boden order arrived (this exercise is very dangerous for making me feel I have holes in my wardrobe.). One pair of size 10 chinos won't do up and the other pair (coral/pink/orange/something like that) fit v well and are comfy so they are staying as off-duty wear. Another pair of 12P also fit (china blue) and they are for my going out tonight outfit with the lace Pepperberry t-shirt.

I posted on another thread that I thought I needed some navy cropped leggings to go under dresses but obviously I was channelling myself in the September sales last year as I already had a pair I found in a drawer (American Apparel) which are not perfect (narrow waistband which is a tad too tight). Neither are the new pair I got from Boden (Johnnie B size 16+ (wide waistband which is a tad too loose!) or the 15-16y pair I'm sending back from Boden (waistband not much tighter but legs cut off my circulation). So now I have two not very adequate pairs but feel I can't keep buying more on spec.

Mipe · 04/06/2016 16:51

Swebby your instagram is great, I remembered today I have some similar cargo trousers at the back of the wardrobe so will be wearing them tomorrow with a white t-shirt Smile.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/06/2016 17:23

Wearing a dress today Shock - it's been in my wardrobe for a year , first time I've worn it.
Nice, knee length, bit fit&flare.
Love it.

ARichVernacular · 04/06/2016 18:04

So so chuffed, I have rejuvenated a much loved band t-shirt by cutting down the neck and armholes. Love the band, always loved the shirt design but it was a hugely unflattering shape on me before. Now I can wear it again!

Out for a friend's birthday tonight so am wearing the shirt (white with a black and red graphic print) with my black Boden ruched skirt, leopard print cardi, rust coloured Adidas Gazelles and red lipstick Grin

Miffyandme · 04/06/2016 19:35

Big charity shop trip yesterday to off-load lots. I decided to take photos of some old favourites that just aren't right anymore.

I've seen a few of you mention pepperberry. Is that the company linked to bravissimo? Do they have stores or is it online? I'm still feeding my youngest and am going to have to look at smart work top that fit my new shape. At the moment most shirts that used to fit gape at the buttons and pull over my boobs, not a good look.

whirlygirly · 04/06/2016 21:06

Wearing a "vintage" (about 10 years old!) boden pale grey linen top with a short washed grey swingy jersey skirt which I bought last year in the salt rock sale and forgot I owned. It's the perfect length and fit.

In charity bag - a linen t I bought the other week because I liked the colour. It's about a size 18. I'm usually a 12. It swamps me. I don't know what I was thinking. Also some ancient next linen trousers. Binned some silver leather boden sandals that I bloody adored. They had been worn to death. I shall miss them.

Plenty of things for the eBay pile too.

drspouse · 04/06/2016 22:22

Yes Pepperberry is the Bravissimo clothing line - both online and in their stores.
In yet another change I wore a crochet top I made out tonight with my new cropped chinos. I did ask DH if the 1970s wanted their top back and he said no, they were OK, so I'll keep it. Thin jumper over the top to walk home which is another less worn item but worth keeping.

But both now need washing after I spilled my pudding Blush

drspouse · 05/06/2016 09:41

Going to church - People Tree 50s style dress, cream shrug type cardigan, and I think I'm going to try my Fly London sandals as I haven't far to walk. Dress fits nicely and cardigan tones well but is too warm already!
I'm never quite sure with lovely but uncomfortable shoes. Is it really worth keeping them for occasions when I don't have to walk (I walk around a lot at work so not for then), or are they a waste of space?

drspouse · 05/06/2016 09:46

(We're ignoring the state of my legs. Hoping to squeeze in a wax tomorrow).

CointreauVersial · 05/06/2016 23:13

Hooray! Sunshine! I was able to wear a few things that haven't seen the light of day for months. Denim shorts and a new crinkle fabric white top this morning, then I changed into a blue linen Seasalt tunic dress to go out.

I dug out my summer dresses and had a good try-on session. One is going onto the eBay pile (a black M&S Autograph shift dress, which is shapeless and doesn't fit properly) and three dresses are going into the loft, because they are a little snug around the midriff (I'm a few pounds over my usual weight at the moment) but are too nice/classic to get rid of.

Swebby · 06/06/2016 06:04

Wow! Thank you guys, just came back to check in and saw your posts, you are so nice!!! Happy dance that someone got some inspiration from an outfit, yay!

It is possible I may well have too many clothes Grin but I'd like to think it looks a lot because I am trying to wear absolutely everything. (I hope I'm not kidding myself but I suppose I might be Blush!)

Giving a full midi black skirt another chance today - it was going to go in the clothes swap bag, but now I'm not so sure....

Swebby · 06/06/2016 06:06

Do you guys think there is any mileage in a 'show us your wardrobe' thread? I'm now actually really curious to know if I do have an excessive clothing collection Hmm...

ARichVernacular · 06/06/2016 09:06

Hmmm. Thought I was on a safe bet today: favourite t-shirt, dark silver grey maxi skirt, cropped cardigan, new pointy flats. I still like all of these things aesthetically, but the skirt is a static generator like no other and as a staticky prone type anyway I really don't need the extra shocks! Plus my new shoes have rubbed my feet, the traitors.

Shoes are staying as they can still make it up to me, but I will have to think hard about the skirt.

drspouse · 06/06/2016 09:49

Supposedly uncomfortable sandals yesterday were absolutely fine for car-church-car-house so I'll try them for work another day when I don't have much walking around planned.

Today I am finally wearing the lace Pepperberry top - first I tried some Boden drawstring waist linen trousers, pale blue, but way too tight in the waist and, bizarrely for the style and my not very chunky legs, the thighs (I mostly put on weight around my waist). I think they will go as I'm not going to lose that much weight on my thighs.

Instead I'm wearing cropped Boden slubby trousers and Kickers sandals (that look nothing like Kickers - I luvvvs them lots and lots - got them on the continent, don't think you can get them here)

Ememem84 · 06/06/2016 21:38

Fell off the thread for a while. Have just checked out swebbys Instagram. So many lovely outfits!!

Wore a bright electric blue dress to work today. Tan pointed flats. And a hot pink scarf.

My outfit for tomorrow has to be smart ish as I'm meeting a new client (met before but for the first time in our offices) so grey pencil skirt, burgundy courts, cream joules fox hunt blouse.
