I know we have all laughed at M&S for their terrible gopping clothes over the past couple of years but I really feel they are getting back on track now... because these trousers are going to be my summer staple!

Link here

What would you wear them with? Smile

Grrr - I clicked on the link to look and now they are staring back at me on my phone curtesy of a M&S banner ad. There is literally no escape from the ghastly things.

And the price of the matching jacket Grin... I think it was £250! What a bargain.

Seeyounearatime

Has linked a much cheaper, versatile version of these pants of great beauty.

M&S you are way behind.

This thread has some brilliant comments.

Got to say though M&S is not the only sinner. Whistles & Jigsaw have similar (Whistles even down to elasticated waist Shock).

My DH just looked and asked if they were MC Hammer pants.

Whistles leather culottes. But actually looking waaaayyy better because they're an actual divided skirt. Also not baby poo brown.

I love the navy version of the matching jacket. I'm not such a fan of anything tan-coloured but in navy I would actually try on the trousers. I'm liking the cropped wide leg trouser trend though unlike most people on MN.

Ooh just clicked on the Jigsaw link - really like those - and it's a long time since I could say that about anything in Jigsaw.

WTF are those strange flip flop/cowboy boot combo? Nearly as bad as the Clarks originals sheepskin lined sandals which were on here recently.

They are the only shoes worse than crocs.

Dear God! They are an abomination.

I agree, the bloggers will be all over them.

The model is 6'1 and a size 8 yet they make her look wide and dumpy. I can't imagine what I would look like in a size 12.

I can't stop laughing.

I'll be giving them a wide berth because I don't think leather and crotches ever belong together and because that elasticated waist looks ugly.

That said, I have never understood all the harrumphing about cropped wide legs on these boards, especially when capris - much trickier to wear if you ask me - seem to be viewed as mainstream. It kind of reminds me of my marvelous Auntie Winnie who lived through 2 world wars but never got over the shock of seeing Sonny and Cher.

I really like the jacket in navy.

So we are going to be wearing leather cropped baggy trousers with SANDALS this Autumn? Shock

What are the 'loaf of bread' shoes?

GrumpyOldBag · 12/05/2016 20:47

They make the model's arse look enormous.

I suspect that's not an original observation, I haven't RTFT.
