Oh I wish I could sew. One of my biggest regrets is refusing to learn at school because it was a 'girl's subject'. Talk about cutting off my nose..... I'm toying with trying to teach myself now but I have zero patience.

newlabelwriter · 28/04/2016 08:40

Mominatrix very similar shirt in Andotherstories www.stories.com/gb/Ready-to-wear/Tops/Off_Shoulder_Blouse/582942-115436219.1.

niminypiminy · 28/04/2016 08:53

I didn't learn at school either Floisme. It's not really that difficult and there are very helpful tutorials all over the internet and independent pattern designers who also run classes and workshops. And the skirts took about an hour each from start to finish so I feel like I am getting almost instant clothes.

I love shopping, but I also want sleeves, I want to have shapes and fabrics that I like. I'm not saying I'll never buy an item of clothing ever again - of course I will - but for things like summer dresses I think making is going to be the way forward. This is the next project.

MamaAwayOnBusiness · 28/04/2016 10:03

wiltingfast The dress is gorgeous, only if the weather was nicer so I can actually wear it! It's made of really nice cotton, it's shirty material but not too thin or transparent (although admittedly does crease quite a bit but I don't mind that for a casual dress for summer). The colour is more blue and less lilac compared to the photos on the website.

Coconut Yup, mumsnet is dangerous like that. Grin

MamaAwayOnBusiness · 28/04/2016 10:05

niminypiminy great skills, I like that dress. Are you going to make it from jersey fabric?

JohnCheese · 28/04/2016 11:03

Jcrew tee. Is it itchy? Only flung it on yesterday, but no, didn't think it was itchy.

Tit pocket: it's really subtle and flat. I'm a 28-30E/F and it really isn't a 'whoa look at my tits' pocket. I wouldn't let it put you off the tee.

V is quite low but not indecently so.

Downside: it is VERY lightweight. Bit of a bitch given its high price. I still like it tho. Might need a cami some days. Definitely need a nude bra.

Sizing? Have a S. I'm a narrow shouldered 10, it's good. I reckon 14 would be L, with plenty of slouch room.

JohnCheese · 28/04/2016 11:06

Anyone get an email about the espadrilles?

MamaAwayOnBusiness · 28/04/2016 11:10

I like these espadrilles, they are ore expensive than Zara, but they are leather & suede. Love the rose one especially
www.stories.com/gb/Shoes/All_shoes/Leather_and_Suede_Espadrilles/590763-115388832.1

JohnCheese · 28/04/2016 12:05

Yes they are lovely but indeed expensive. All of the colours are lovely actually. I never seem to get the otherstories shoes sizing right tho. Have ordered a few and there never the right fit. Which is a pain given their delivery charges. So I won't order shoes from them (online)any more. I would have been tempted by those espadrilles otherwise.

wiltingfast · 28/04/2016 13:17

those espadrilles are Lovely and I hate espadrilles usually...

& Other Stories coming to Dublin soon, am stupidly excited! Grin

looking at the current state of the shop front half the building torn down though I'd say it'll be Autumn at the earliest...

MamaAwayOnBusiness · 28/04/2016 13:52

JohnCheese I know what you mean, I had to return a few pairs from Stories when they were pointy/almond toe style. Glad I'm not the only one who finds their moulds weird. I did have luck with round toe styles though, I have a pair of loafers from them that I have worn a lot.

Still can't justify £65 for espadrilles. They'd be sweaty in the heat anyway sour grapes

KanyesVest · 28/04/2016 16:25

Wiltingfast, which half deconstructed building??

wiltingfast · 28/04/2016 19:12

Are you in Dublin? It's on Grafton st. Where A Wear used to be. Facade completely gone! Shock

Floisme · 28/04/2016 19:32

I was just coming to say I can't be bothered with espadrilles but those are lovely.

But I'm getting very choosy about ordering online. Our post office has closed so returns are a pain in the arse

KanyesVest · 28/04/2016 20:01

Oh, I wondered what would go in there. I don't go into town often (i love online shopping) and had managed to miss the joules and cos news too.

CointreauVersial · 28/04/2016 20:26

I bought this pleated skirt the other day, and it's still hung up waiting for me to work out what on earth to wear with it. I'm not a "tucker-in" (well, maybe the odd half-tuck) and I can't work out the footwear either. But it feels lovely - a sort of jersey - and verrry swishy. Any ideas?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/04/2016 20:29

Cointreau - is the fabric light/unsweaty enough for summer? If yes, I'd wear that skirt with a black cami, bare legs and Converse or sandals. Little denim jacket if not so warm.

MrsCampbellBlack · 28/04/2016 20:56

Boden ruched skirt arrived and love it. I got the navy so will wait until I can wear it with bare legs - so perhaps one day in July.

JackandDiane · 28/04/2016 22:26

It keeps its shape too

OP posts:
wiltingfast · 28/04/2016 22:42

Oooh I can see that with a half tucked in tee and white sneakers, maybe ankle socks if you are über trendy Grin

Plus a blazer

Or ooo that cos jacket I've linked too been pushing above.

Definitely not with silver mid heel along backs and what looks like a nasty nylon blouse M&S wtaf???

wiltingfast · 28/04/2016 22:43

Sling backs! Not along backs >sigh

wiltingfast · 28/04/2016 22:52

Or with a leather biker!

lets talk clothes. Anyone got their eye on anything?
cardoon · 28/04/2016 23:20

I got my ruched skirt today too. What length did you get MrsCB? I got the navy long and it's most elegant. No R's left in the navy so I ordered the stripe to compare lengths - such a comfy, easy style I prefer it to my Whistles ones

CointreauVersial · 29/04/2016 00:03

Yes, I think I will have to have a little try-on session with the pleated skirt. It's definitely light enough for summer, and I have jackets aplenty. It's a style I really want to make work, but it veers perilously close to "frumpy great aunt" if styled badly when you're 49 and don't look like Alexa Chung

I'm definitely not uber trendy enough for ankle socks.

I love the Boden ruched skirt; almost bought one myself.

CoconutAmericano · 29/04/2016 04:23

Omg Other Stories is coming to Grafton St?! Grin. That is great news. The Cos store was a huge hit.
