May I also confess that I rather like the look of these M&S sandals and have been checking in on them online every evening for the past few days?? Blush

niminypiminy · 26/04/2016 14:35

Remus that skirt is in the sale at M&S - half price - how can you resist it?

BeStrongAndCourageous · 26/04/2016 14:44

I am frustrated with clothes atm, no one seems to cater for the big-of- boob. I'm off to Portugal in two weeks and want some sundresses. Have seen some nice ones but only with skinny spaghetti straps - if they'd only make them an inch or two wider so I could wear a bra with them! I find strapless bras uncomfortable and unsupportive, but the alternative seems to be high-necked shift dresses, which make me look like a rectangle.

KanyesVest · 26/04/2016 17:42

I feel your frustration, BeStrong. I don't know how many dresses I've tried on recently which hang straight down from my boobs making me Iook like a circus tent.

AdoraKiora · 26/04/2016 18:23

Boden trousers £89.50 @ polyhymnia

AdoraKiora · 26/04/2016 18:24

I wish I looked good in shirts. Can the big of tit ever wear a crisp white shirt and look good? I am willing to be persuaded...Grin

SlowComfortableShrew · 26/04/2016 18:25

BeStrong, have you looked at Pepperberry

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/04/2016 18:28

The orange skirt is too long and I look like a cross between an Oompa Loompa and a pumpkin in it. I haven't decided if I love it enough to not mind that. It's going to come down to a question of footwear, but I hate shoes and don't want to have to think about potentially having to buy more of the stupid things.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/04/2016 18:29

Niminy - just seen your post. Even at half price, it would still be too long. I'll try it on again at the weekend - suspect it's the sort of thing that most people would detest, so there should be plenty left!

ShinyShinyShiny · 26/04/2016 18:41

Flois I am with you on the need for sleeves and knee length, almost impossible to find things I like.

That said, I have bought a few lovely things from M&S for the first time in a long time, a voluminous pleated navy midi skirt and a black shirt dress which I'm really pleased with.

I have my eyes on a few things from Finery, I've been impressed with their jersey tops and want to try a dress next.

I ordered this recently and it is lovely, nicer than the photo and looks great against plain black dresses and tops (of which I have too many lots)

This thread has a healthy dose of negativity Grin, probably inspired by the cold weather.

I spent AGES researching nice loose summer tops to wear with skinnies, as I atruggled to find nice ones last year.

I bought 4 lovely ones, £££, from Anthropologie in March.

They sit in my wardrobe laughing at me every time I reach past them for my woolly tops.

It was 6C here today.... In the South, and it's almost May. It even snowed and hailed for 10 mins at lunchtime....Sad

Will I ever wear those tops ?

ShinyShinyShiny · 26/04/2016 18:44

Remus the skirt I bought is the blue version of the orange one, I loved the colour but had the same footwear dilemma. They did the same skirt in emerald green in the autumn which I wore lots and the navy looks good with nude heels for work, the orange one is trickier although at half price I could be tempted.

Tanaqui · 26/04/2016 19:03

Is it this skirt Remus?
www.marksandspencer.com/pleated-midi-skirt/p/p22451729?prevPage=plp

It would look hideous on me!! But I have no waist.

I bought white jeans nearly a month ago and am not sure I will ever wear them! Bought a cashmere jumper in the sale at the same time and have barely taken it off!

KanyesVest · 26/04/2016 19:10

I'm having the same issue with that orange skirt, and its navy companion. I really love them but they look ridiculous on me. I seem to have one item every season that I try on about 50 times in the hope that this will be the time it magically fits and doesn't look hideous. Last year it was a pair of pale pink jeans that hated my thighs .

SquareDolphin · 26/04/2016 19:20

Weekend haul at mavi, including some gorgeous featherweight slim leg jeans in dark grey.

Tonight, Nars nail polish in La Notte a lovely navy blue jelly www.narscosmetics.com/USA/la-notte-nail-polish/0607845036616.html

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/04/2016 19:21

Tanaqui - that's the one. It's better irl. The fabric is lovely and it falls really nicely. It doesn't look hideous on me, and I do love that shape of skirt and wear a lot, but generally with heeled ankle boots - not sure how to make it work in Spring/Summer. Ballet flats would be my usual choice, or a slightly pointier flat, but the skirt is maybe a bit too long for that and I'm not as svelte as I used to be. Grin

BeStrongAndCourageous · 26/04/2016 19:41

I've tried stuff from there before SlowComfortableShrew, but found it all looks frumpy on me.

Dickins and Jones had some lovely summer dresses last year, but has been very disappointing so far this year.

JackandDiane · 26/04/2016 20:41

NO way to bare legs, it snowed, you freak

My boss at work has a 'no tights after the easter holidays' rule. Corn beef legs ago-go Grin

BillStickersIsInnocent · 27/04/2016 06:40

I've been wearing that ruched Boden skirt with bare legs. And a jumper, leather jacket etc. Can't face tights or skinnies this time of year.

Haven't bought anything recently really except for a boring work jacket with awesome shoulder pads.

sassytheFIRST · 27/04/2016 07:03

I'm after two things for the summer. A white or grey v neck top - NOT jersey or patterned to wear with my fab impulse buy blue striped midi. I've got the perfect black one but white or grey would be better. Or perhaps coral? And a grey biker jacket - could be jersey. I've always wanted one of them.

I'm keen to buy the sandals I have my eye on but the weather is putting me off at the mo. Have promised myself to buy as a treat when I lose another 2 lbs (am dieting). Can when out how to do links on phone but it's these from Clarks.

lets talk clothes. Anyone got their eye on anything?
Floisme · 27/04/2016 07:05

I'm wearing the Boden ruched skirt too - with a big woolly jumper, opaques and ankle boots. It's 8 degrees outside - put some clothes on you nutters.

I've seen some nice things on the Finery website and they even seem to have heard of cotton. But I've heard a few stories about returns which put me off ordering.

thecatfromjapan · 27/04/2016 08:49

JackandDiane I read you posting about wearing the skirt with bare legs and I thought ... but I see a couple of posters are committed enough to forego tights in the snow.

AdoraKlora was your boss Anna Wintour? Grin

MamaAwayOnBusiness · 27/04/2016 12:26

I bought a dress from Hush (Venice Beach),
two pairs of sandals - these from Toast www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+shoes/fffaa/cross+over+heeled+sandal.htm?categoryref=%2fcategory.aspx%3fcategoryid%3dwomens%2520shoes%26seoterm%3dshoes%26&pcat=womens+shoes&adimage=&clr=FFFAA_NavyBlack

and these from Steve Madden for everyday
www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Steve+Madden+Dublin+cross+strap+flat+sandals/232989208,default,pd.html

a dress from Finery
www.finerylondon.com/uk/products/brunswick-integrated-wrap-shirt-dress?taxon_id=6

and a few dresses from &Other Stories and a denim jacket from APC on ebay. All sitting in the wardrobe. They are not going to get worn soon are they?

Waiting for payday to buy new jeans, living in trousers at the moment as can't face tights anymore. These are expensive but I had so many false starts and returns, just want to get some decent jeans finally www.levi.com/GB/en_GB/womens-jeans/p/306060060
