Kate's Clutch Bags

I was reading a bit of a mean article in the Daily Mail (obviously) about how unstylish she was. I don't agree with all of it but i do think the wee teeny clutch bags don't help. I know she can't manage a shoulder bag but maybe something a bit bigger might look better and less buttoned up.

I also can't believe she has tights on she must be roasted!

Do you know I nearly posted this very thread! I think she is a beautiful woman who always looks very well put together but those bags do drive me slightly nuts. But as I'm a bit of a saddo I was wondering what the alternative could be and couldn't come up with one.

I also like the Bottletop clutch bags - bit more interesting than the tiny clutch she has in those pics.

I don't like the way the DM has the knives out at the moment. They are being proper spiteful with the constant criticism of her clothes. That said, I think the pockets on the front of that dress are not particularly nice and bring down what is otherwise a lovely dress. Think the skirt on it is gorgeous.

Yes she's really fallen from favour hasn't she! Awful article a few days back about how she looked dowdy (she didn't.) Maybe she spent a load of money on those clutches and feels it would be a waste to chuck them?!

While I dont have anything against the bags I do wonder why she needs them. When I was watching the Queen at ninety documentary the Queen also seemed to be very keen to carry her bag about and sit with on her chair (making she was seated uncomfortably). What could be in the bags that is so important? Surely an assistant could carry anything out it could be left in the car?

I reckon it's a security blanket - and also contains tissues for when waiting for an assistant just doesn't work.

It could be an armoured weapon though....

Think the Queen carries her reading glasses in her bag. Plus, I've read that she uses the way she holds her handbag to send discreet signals to her lady in waiting or equerry, for example if she's at a reception and she wants to get away from a person or conversation.

And it can be useful just to have something to do with your hands.

I think the media are angry with her cos she doesn't have a really fun personality they can enjoy. So it manifests as picking on everything.

I honestly think that if she was really charismatic and witty that she'd get away with murder. Tabloids like quotable people.

On topic, I don't know how she's been literally clutching a wee box bag for the past 5 years. I can barely do 5 minutes without feeling awkward and annoyed.

The pure discomfort during this tour is almost palpable going by some of the pics that have been published. I get the feeling she often feels like a fish out of water. I probably would too tbh.

I think the DM is annoyed generally as they are not giving as much access as they'd like. The articles on her clothes are just bitchy.

I have wondered if the bag may have a panic button or similar in it... But I think the main thing is likely for something to do with her hands.

I can take or leave her but I must admit to being surprised at the recent bitchiness about her in the media when previously she's been their darling. I'm guessing it's down to the Cambridges not playing along and doing things like going on holiday without a photocall then releasing their own pics taken by them. The press wouldn't have liked that.

I think she has it quite tricky, her role dictates that she has to dress fairly sensibly - I'd love to see her in something a bit more exciting but she'd get slated for that as much as she did for supposedly being frumpy.

I think the novelty's worn off, it's that simple. She seems to be wearing less accessible stuff too, tiny bags aside. It's all Mulberry and Alexander McQueen now, and she somehow picks the most "mature" pieces from every collection.

She also ruins a lot of dresses by wearing fucking court shoes. That sheer navy polka dot job for instance; those courts just weighed the whole look down or something, they needed some cool strappy heels. Same with that lovely printed dress she was wearing playing cricket in India. I'm starting to think she has no toes or that showing them in public is seen as some horrendous faux pas.

Well according to the DM thecraic she's not a fan of nail polish (although how they know that I've no idea.) Think the hand idea is the most logical, also like the idea of signals.

I'm not sure strappy sandals would work at all, she's at work, I used to do a lot of presentations to large audiences and I would have felt fairly slutty in strappy sandals. I feel a bit sorry for her if I'm honest, is Princess Charlotte even one yet?

Latest dress (black and white one) is fab. Still the teeny clutch though. I think it's partly I associate those small bags with evening.

I agree she needs to swap the court shoes occasionally. I don't think sandals are slutty!

I'm sure I read somewhere that it just wasn't done to wear sandals when meeting the Queen (toes should be covered), so she maybe doesn't because of etiquette?

The black and white dress is the nicest so far. I think as above - she needs the little bag for something to do with her hands. If I were her Id also want a phone in there only to be called if there were an emergency with the kids.

Oh and she would have seemed so much more down to earth if shed just kicked off the wedges and played cricket barefoot.
