I'd have to ban Crocs, unless they're on small children.

Impulse body spray..stinks

Anyone else?

Pale skin. Check. Bright red lips. Check. Parka. Check. Hey ho. Grin

I did dresses over trousers in about 1992 - I don''t think I'll be doing it again.

Anything, anything at all, that people are clearly wearing because they think it is fashionable or on trend and not because they feel good in it. It really shows when you don't feel comfortable in your clothes.

MarbleFox · 09/04/2016 12:58
  • Tattooed lip liner. My cousin has this, it's so ageing and just daft IMO. It's a fad and the whole lip liner thing going on at the moment is a trend that will die out, when it does the people who've got it are going to be left with permanent lip liner Confused
  • Women wearing top of the range, spotless gym or yoga wear with perfect hair and makeup around shopping centres etc. I see this all the time in my area and it's obvious they haven't been to the gym. If they're planning on going surely the hair and makeup is pointless?
NantucketNightbird · 09/04/2016 13:05

My lips are very pale they look beige with a blue liner Blush. But I have pernicious anaemia so I'm putting it down to that. I'm going to have to get myself some lipstick so people don't think I'm sporting the nude lipstick look Grin
Pigtails (bunches) on adults, just awful.

BennyTheBall · 09/04/2016 14:37

I wear nude lipstick.

I'd love to be able to wear colour on my lips, but I have tried and look nothing short of horrific.

Madbengalmum · 09/04/2016 15:00

Marble, yes, i hate, hate, gym wear in shops etc.
Just looks stupid, but the wearers seem to think they are super cool!!

MamaLazarou · 09/04/2016 15:14

I think tattooed make up is semi-permanent, MarbleFox, so it will probably fade after a while.

bolleauxnouveau · 09/04/2016 15:27

You wear gymkit all the time in case you might need to break into a run or do emergency aerobics obvs.

theDudesmummy · 09/04/2016 15:31

I wear/wore quite a few of these:
Love my Crocs but would not wear them outside of home or beach. I'm wearing furry ones right now.
I had streaks of pink hair in the 1980s, that is acceptable surely.
White stuff and some Fat face tops happen to fit me nicely and can be flattering over the tum area. I love flower prints.
Long cardigans are my staple workwear most days. Covers the bum and stops me looking quite so short.

I do not like on people:
Muffin tops
Bare legs when its not warm
Overdone makeup in the daytime
Skater dresses on adult women

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 09/04/2016 15:52

Those dresses with a hemline that's higher at the front than the back. How many women really want to showcase their knees?

notamummy10 · 09/04/2016 16:00

Bad eyebrows - the in trend this year is natural eyebrows (you can get products that help with this!

Dungarees, unless you are 5 then it's cute.

Jelly shoes, same as above.

Kardashian make-up, particularly the extreme contouring (contouring in general isn't that bad) and the big lips trend, just stop.

The inability to blend makeup, whether it's foundation, blusher/bronzer or eyeshadow.

GarlicShake · 09/04/2016 16:47

niminy, I'd live in shalwar kameez if I could wear it without looking like I'm trying to appropriate someone's culture! So I just wear dresses/tunics over leggings/trousers.

My answer to "why would you?" is "why wouldn't I?" Grin It's free-moving, comfortable, warm, resists cat scratches & snags (unlike tights), easy to vary and goes with most shoes or boots.

I do actually own tights. They're nearly all opaque, though, so more or less equivalent to leggings - but less resilient.

MitzyLeFrouf · 09/04/2016 16:52

Gwenhwyfar that nude lipstick photo you linked to is horrendous.

She looks like a corpse from 1993.

Ugh.

nipersvest · 09/04/2016 17:09

men should be banned from wearing their trousers low slung at the back so their pants are on show. just yuk.

Gwenhwyfar · 09/04/2016 17:32

Mitzy, did you think the red lipstick looked good?
Just found another photo of lipstick so red, the rest of the face looks 'ill' in comparison: likes.com/beauty/top-15-celebrity-make-up-trends

whereas this looks nice and healthy to me: www.makeupnotebook.com/lipsticktips.html

MitzyLeFrouf · 09/04/2016 17:37

I think the red lipstick photo is so much better so I'm obviously not seeing what you're seeing. But I'm not of the school of thought that makeup should always look 'natural' (not that pale lipstick ever does imo). I like vivid red lips.

MitzyLeFrouf · 09/04/2016 17:40

I don't mind a natural look either but neither of the ones you've linked to appeal at all. Deathly pale lipstick just seems very dated and dare I say a bit tacky.

Floisme · 09/04/2016 17:43

I'm kind of on the fence on this one. I love red lipstick on other people but whenever I try it on myself I feel a bit of a knob. I don't wear beige anything but I do normally stick to colourless lip balm.

MitzyLeFrouf · 09/04/2016 17:43

Anyway this thread has wonderfully demonstrated that for every item condemned to Room 101 another Mumsnetter would be shoving you out of the way so she could lean in and fish it out again! Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/04/2016 17:44

Gwen - I think the red lipstick pic you posted looks gorgeous.

notamummy10 · 09/04/2016 17:55

I love nude lipsticks and I love red lipsticks, it's about finding the right shade for you. There are a few universal shades out there but it's nice to have shades that suit your skin tone and undertones.

Admittedly when I heard that nude lips were making a comeback, I thought of foundation/concealer lips... Whilst we're on the subject, why is Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse still popular today? That stuff was awful!

MitzyLeFrouf · 09/04/2016 18:04

Traditional nude lipstick shades make me look like a week old corpse that's been fished from a river. When I want a low-key look I go for a MLBB (my lips but better) shade, something like one of the tinted Burt's Bees lip balms.
