I'd have to ban Crocs, unless they're on small children.

Impulse body spray..stinks

Anyone else?

Sketchers, I don't care if they're like walking on a cloud, they're like aldi trainers and theyre 50 bucks ffs.

GarlicShake · 09/04/2016 02:36

See now, if you're both long of waist and bunchy of midriff, those fake shirt-jumper things are the only way to get a remotely tidy look (if you're in a situation where shirt + jumper is desired, obvs.) I used to have 6 of 'em for work and going to 'smart casual' events.

I binned them all after joining Mumsnet! (I might have kept them if I still had an office job.)

Curviest · 09/04/2016 06:51

As the proud owner of six pairs of (different-coloured) Crocs, I am deeply hurt by this thread. :-(

My own pet hate are high heeled shoes. I find them utterly hideous and often find myself stopping and staring in disbelief as a woman hobbles and teeters along in them .... WHY WHY WHY?

Glamorousglitter · 09/04/2016 08:11

Platform shoes - ridiculous
Wedge shoes / sandals
Crocs

Daisy dukes
Ripped tights

Crazy eyebrows

'Nail art' pointy nails etc wtf

Diamond y things stuck on teeth

Kitten heels

Peplums

Frills

Flowery prints

Streaky heavy tan

Nude glossy tights, with nude shoes

Nude tights with sandals or peep toes

Parkas on grown women!

(Parkas are for 8 year old boys and Mods)

niminypiminy · 09/04/2016 09:48

"It just emphasises your lips without giving them a strange artificial colour"

If you have beige lips I suppose that might be true. But mine, last time I looked, were a shade of plummy-red.

I don't understand beige lipstick. It's like you're trying to minimise your lips.

hazeyjane · 09/04/2016 10:27

Oi! I got married in my parka! And it was a 70s snorkel one.

nanetterose · 09/04/2016 10:34

Beige lipstick ( although not my favourite) makes your eyes stand out more.
Especially if they are your best feature.

I like a nude/pink for a similar reason.

Red can be draining and make blue/green eyes look sore/tired -*if the shade is incorrect for the skin shade.

flirtygirl · 09/04/2016 10:34

I love dungarees, fake faux, leopard print, leopard print fur, leggings (but never worn as trousers), ballet pumps but usually with a flat heel so supportive, jumpsuits, nice big and different shaped sunglasses, good fitting skinny jeans and a lot of things mentioned on the thread but hate hate hate
Black eyebrows, septum piercing, old lady jeans on slim young girls, stretched eye lobes, strobing and contouring done wrong so 95% of the time, the bob which is shorter at the back and sometimes back combed on one side, fleece tops unless worn at home as pjs, zip fleece jackets, most boden dresses, things worn with absolutely no imagination, pointy nails, women who reach 30 and start dressing like their grandma, you are young fgs and age is just a no
Id rather see someone in their sixties or any age working a great fifties dress or jumpsuit than a young woman in her 20s in grey dropbum (where the bum shape hangs and has no shape as the item has been worn too many times) tracksuit bottoms, cheap trainers and black jacket,
Also hate faux ripped skinny jeans, at least let your jeans age naturally dont just cut great big lumps out of them, crop tops, michael kors bags, girls under 10 looking like teens, girls in high heels and fake tan. Phew

nanetterose · 09/04/2016 10:36

Dresses with trousers has to be the most practical, yet pretty look.

leggings too.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/04/2016 10:54

I bloody love my parka. Duffle coats are for little boys, and parkas are for everybody.

BlueFolly · 09/04/2016 11:08

Yes, what is it with the stupid tit pockets?!!!

TwoWeeksInCyprus · 09/04/2016 11:23

Sorry about the parka comment Hazey and Remus - I knew it was risky as so many people wear them nowadays. No doubt I'm just showing my age Smile

Gwenhwyfar · 09/04/2016 11:40

"But mine, last time I looked, were a shade of plummy-red. "

Really? Mine are pink, but a pink lipstick is actually too pink to pinky/brown (i.e. nude) is the best look for me.
I really dislike bright red lipstick on pale people as I think it looks so unnatural. Might be Ok on darker skin.

GeekLove · 09/04/2016 11:51

Trousers on men with high waist at the front and back cleavage at the back.
If you're going to show your cleftal horizon maybe wax it or wear a little diamte chain? If you're gonna flaunt it do it properly.

OutToGetYou · 09/04/2016 11:51

Leggings other than in a yoga class.

OutToGetYou · 09/04/2016 11:56

Actually, I really hate that current fad of tops being longline at the back than the front, looks so untidy especially if it is a different fabric than the rest of the top. Saves me money though as I can barely find anything to buy that isn't like that.

Gwenhwyfar · 09/04/2016 12:04

This red lipstick looks horrible to me, for example. Way too much contrast between the lip colour and skin colour: www.amodelrecommends.com/2014/05/30/if-you-buy-one-lipstick-this-summer/

whereas nude lipstick looks much better to me: www.realsimple.com/beauty-fashion/makeup/lips/red-nude-lipstick/subtle-nude

niminypiminy · 09/04/2016 12:10

Well different strokes for different folks.

I can't say that I think the beige lips in your link look either natural or attractive, but then who says makeup is about looking natural? That's one of the reasons I like red lipstick. And if your colouring is naturally high contrast and you have darkish/coloured lips naturally, you'll look better with a high contrast lip colour.

The beige lips/heavy eye make up thing isn't a look I personally like but it is, after all, a free country. I don 't expect everybody to like the bare face/red lips look that I mostly wear.

Gwenhwyfar · 09/04/2016 12:10

"Dresses with trousers: as worn by millions of women worldwide, especially in this form:"

Yes, but why do it if it's not in your tradition at all. I just don't get the reason for wearing a dress and jeans. If you wear a dress, you wear tights (or leggings functioning as tights) and if you wear jeans, you wear it with a top.

hazeyjane · 09/04/2016 12:17

Because I like dresses and jeans

......and parkas (and duffel coats) and Crocs and tattoos (although am too wimp to have one!) and pretty vests, even though my arms could rival Geoff Capes and leggings and tunics and bobble hats throughout the year and pink/blue/orange hair and band tshirts and well anything that takes my fancy!

bigbuttons · 09/04/2016 12:22

I love the look of bright red lipstick, just bought one myself, not that one though!!

Floisme · 09/04/2016 12:22

but why do it if it's not in your tradition at all?
Because that's what fashion does. All the time. Otherwise we'd still be in crinolines.
