What does your DH/DP wear on his feet when wearing shorts?

DD has begged that we find DH new footwear for the summer. Currently, his preferred choice with shorts is walking sandal types (which DD hates) or trainers with socks, which I hate...

Any suggestions?

Dp does look nice in shorts, or I think so anyway.

He likes polo shirts too - I bloomin' hate the things, but will tolerate a neat fitting one in navy or dusty blue only.

My DH wears either Toms (no socks) Fred Perrys Kingston I think they're called (no socks or trainer socks) or leather flip flop things.

On holiday he wears Havainas flip flops during the day or if we are out sightseeing , Vans or Converse , without socks.

Men look lush in flip flops! ( sweeping generalisation ). Can't wait till it gets warm enough...men in socks and trainers with shorts, however...

It's so nice to have the air on your feet, why wouldn't you wear flip flops in the summer?

I will tolerate a technical sandal if we're actually going for a walk.

Big no to flip flops, deck shoes or Toms, I'm actually physically repulsed by seeing men in any of these, particularly in they are teamed with those close fitting shorts with a turn-up that finish just above the knee.

canvas type trainers with socks (not exactly Converse but that sort of thing) although normally dark coloured socks. I am not holding up DH as a fashion icon bless him.

Oh god no flip flops. Depending on the shorts, mine wears boat shoes, sneakers (visible trainer socks are a massive no-no) or Birkenstocks. He looks pretty fine in shorts, actually..

Can I just stick up for technical sandals if you are actually walking more than the ice cream shop to the beach. I gave myself 2 months of plantar fasciitis last year with one afternoon's walk in my otherwise lovely Birkenstocks. Proper Walking Footwear on a Proper Walk, boy scout style.

As 60 of British men are fat now and most have very white hairy legs shorts whatever is on the feet is never a good look. A burkha might be better.
