LUSH henna - why has it took me so long to find this fabulous stuff?

God it's amazing. Been using box dyes for ages to cover the greys in my brown hair. My hair was in terrible condition, dry, thinning, breaking off etc.
Tried the reddy brown Lush henna, it's a gorgeous colour, plus has left it really glossy, hasn't been this shiny all over since I was in my 20s.
Did it about 4 weeks ago and the colour and shine is still as good as when I first did it. Will never use a box dye again.
Promise I don't work for them, just needed to share the love!

Yes I think that was reasonable in the circumstances Ovo 😀. Is your DH in the process of digging a nice new patio as we speak?

I'm away from home this weekend but this thread is making me want to henna mine again and it doesn't even need redoing yet. I can't even go and have a sniff of my luscious lush blocks Sad

They smell gorgeous don't they?
Almost like Turkish delight!!!

OvO · 09/04/2016 18:04

It was the very definition of mousy before!

She's a bit rubbish with colours. I have a purple sofa which she sees as blue.

I mean, she saw as blue as she's dead now. Patio being extended as I type. Grin

Ido, my hair still smells of the henna and I keep tucking it between my upper lip and nose, scrunching my face so the hair sits in place, and then sniffing it for ages. It's a sexy look as I'm sure you can tell.

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 09/04/2016 18:04

Yes! Turkish delight, yum. I keep mine above my pants drawer and DH thinks I'm inhaling my pants when I get dressed in the morning 😀

I am orange. I did the rouge last week and was very orange. Did Marron this week and less orange but still orange. Will it fade? I was naturally mouse before. Was going for the brown with reddish tones.

Greengardenpixie · 09/04/2016 18:26

You could do brun over it hooked? It doesn't seem to fade but then I haven't done mine so what do I know

EarSlaps · 09/04/2016 18:30

It probably won't fade but the colour might deepen Hooked (I'm a happy hooker too Grin). Might be worth trying a mix of the marron and brun?

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 09/04/2016 18:52

Here it is. I quite like the colour. It's not too bright, despite leaving it on for ages - I think it definitely would have been brighter if I used fresh henna.

The bathroom reminded me of the famous scene from psycho when I finished but it has cleaned up fine.

Ovo yours looks great

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 09/04/2016 19:04

Ooh cutyourhair that's lovely!

yes its a gorgeous colour cutyourhair

Greengardenpixie · 09/04/2016 19:45

what was the colour you used?

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 09/04/2016 22:37

It was the rouge, although probably faded through age. I have slightly reddish brown hair to start with and this is just a nicer version of my natural colour.

Greengardenpixie · 10/04/2016 10:08

It's such a lovely colour. Not red at all. Loving all the henna colours and shine!GrinEnvy

BathshebaDarkstone · 10/04/2016 10:12

I found that it just rinsed out of my grey hair. Sad

Greengardenpixie · 10/04/2016 11:21

Oh dear Confused What on earth did you do with the grey then? Did you re-colour it?

boldlygoingsomewhere · 10/04/2016 13:22

These henna colours are all turning out beautiful! I'm so tempted to try it but my hair is a natural golden blonde so I think it would just turn me orange! It is proving quite tricky to find a natural dye for blonde hair which can cover grey...

Greengardenpixie · 10/04/2016 13:38

You could try the brun? I don't think that it would turn orange. If I were you, I would do a strand test and see how you would get on :)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/04/2016 14:07

I used brun on highlighted/dyed hair ( cropped most of it out but there was still some colour) , it is quite coppery (not orange though) in some lights.

My strand test was alot lighter than The Real Outcome. ( I did cover in clingfilm and a turban which keeps it warmer, increasing the red ).

I'd be wary of noir though because of the indigo (mine might go green Shock ) but a 50:50 mix is an option.

My roots are coming through and there's a lot more grey than I remember

I was hoping to get a few weeks between henna but I reckon I'll be heading to Lush this week..................

EarSlaps · 10/04/2016 15:46

boldly you could try cassia obovata. That tints a blond shade. I've only used with henna and indigo but it certainly seems to work.

You need to mix it with something acidic (a bit of apple cider vinegar is good) plus some hot water and leave for a good few hours. Then apply as per henna, leave on at least four hours and rinse out with conditioner.

Even if it doesn't cover the greys completely it should leave it in great condition.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 10/04/2016 15:57

Thank you, EarSlaps. I'll have a look and see if I can find some. Smile

ZaraW · 10/04/2016 17:15

Try 80% casia and 20% henna to get a strawberry blonde shade.

ArseholesOnToast · 10/04/2016 18:56

Henne Color Henna do one for blonde hair. It's a powder and I think they sell it in Holland and Barrett. I've never used it but I remember seeing it.

VinceNoirLovesHowardMoon · 11/04/2016 08:19

Caca rouge on my hair last night. Until last summer I used red box dyes so the underlying colour in the body wasn't natural but the top 3 inches are henna on mousy light brown hair. The light doesn't hit the roots as well so it doesn't look as bright as the rest but it is irl
