I'm going to transform myself - would anyone like to join me?

I need to get a grip and I think posting here might help me!

I need to lose some weight, concentrate on personal grooming and give myself a makeover, generally. I want to look and feel better and up my look at work.

Is anyone else interested in joining me?

My aims and ideas are (yours may be different):

Get my teeth bleached
Find out whether to (or how to) deal with my fairly new moustache FOR EVER
Ditto chin hairs
Sort out my fungal toenail
Get a new work wardrobe at some point
Get my nails gelled and keep them maintained
Give up sugar and carbs
Sleep enough, drink slightly less
Be happy!

I am generally, but I do need to look less like a hag, I have let myself go a bit and it's got to stop. Anyone else in?

I have emailed my dentist! It's not quite 'making an appointment ' but it's asking to make an appointment!

Humprhiescushion, can you try a different hairdresser? Worth going in to ask if they reckon they can help?

Great thread. So many of us in the same boat, but also thought for what we do already. I love the 'what would she do?' Strategy. I have used this before WRT confidence - a kind of fake it til you make it - and it works.

My tip is ALWAYS make your next appointment before you leave. Be it teeth, hair, nails - whatever. Set the reminders there and then.

My goal is to lose 1.5 stone.
Find time for mindfulness (suffering from anxiety)
Promote better sleep.
Kick sugar addiction into touch.
Sort my dreadful wardrobe out. My clothes are shit, and I wear the same crap day in, day out as I just can't be arsed. My favourite clothes are my Primark PJs. Kind of sums it up I feel.

I already do hair (I have someone who comes to the house to do me and kids at the same time) every 6 weeks.
Every 4 weeks body hair and semi-permanent eyelash extensions (guarenteed to make you feel more glamorous for weeks on end!)
I had a consultation (only at Boots No 7) and invested in a new skin care range.
I'm eating a lot more fish and drinking min 2ltrs water a day. I can see the difference in my skin almost immediately.
I do spend a bit but I really see it as an investment in my mind, body and soul. As a single parent to 4 what I don't spend going out I can spend feeling good about myself.
Good luck to everyone. You are one of the best investments you will ever make. Smile

Hi, I'd love to join if that's ok?

I need to prioritise my health, and also not look such a shambles all the time!

Goals include

  • losing 2 stone
  • going to bed earlier
  • exercising/outdoor activities with the family at the weekends
  • training myself to eat healthily

Flowers to everyone, we can do this!

On the subject of fake it till you make it this talk is great on confidence, I do recommend it.

I did a power pose before an important meeting this week (went into the loos) and was emailed afterwards and told "you were inspiring" so that was nice!

I started over a year ago and completely transformed myself and my appearance.

I get my hair cut and blowdried every 6-8 weeks, highlights every 12 (cant justify cost more frequently).
Eyebrows tinted and shaped once a month. I think this has made the biggest difference to my appearance.
Lost weight and keep it off, especially with exercise.
Follow fashion blogs, style pages (Facebook mostly) boutiques in my town. In summer I copy looks but shop at Primark.
Light tan in summer.

I need to get my teeth cleaned and polished (not a fan of the bleached look) and my winter coat body hair waxed and shaved and I'll be feeling great again.

Well done Beautiful on the dentist appointment.
I will be trying another hairdresser for sure and think i just need a few lowlights. I am trying to wait for a week though because of money and feel my hair cant take another bashing! Think it is easily sorted though.

I would like to join in too please. Over the last few months I have started introducing some small changes which so far seem to be working but I still have a way to go. So far I have:

  • introduced a daily facial skincare regime with regular exfoliation and face masks (am a fan of Temple Spa)
  • started to moisturise my body (although need to step that up now summer is coming)
  • introduced exercise through the 30 day sit up challenge
  • do a self manicure regularly
  • had a wardrobe clear out

I am also booked into the hairdressers today for a cut and colour (am thinking of a restyle)

What I need to do
  • lose 10lbs
  • get better at styling my hair - I would love to be able to do something with it
  • get more toned
  • update my wardrobe - everything is so drab and baggy and boring
  • drink more water
  • keep on top of all my good deeds so far.

I like the what would she do? approach.
What you're really asking is what would my ideal self do? So it's a way to check in with yourself.

I've been for a long brisk walk this morning. Im going to shower and defuzz in a bit then take the kids out.

My goals for this week are

Spend no more than 1 hr a day on mumsnet.

I'm hoping the free time will help me to achieve all the other goals like reading and getting on top of chores.

Does anyone know how to fund out what colouring you are ? Ie cool winter etc. I have looked online but all places where you go to that are advertised I'm unable to travel to. Would like ideas of what colours I'd suit . As far as the Internet says I'm cool my veins on my wrist are a blue/ purple colour, am very pale and I don't suit gold but I also don't burn very easily so very confused and getting a bit tired of black and Grey. Tiara.

Woke up at 5am accidentally so did my nails, waited properly between coats and did base and top- chipped already. So I'm going to get rid of this particular polish as it's just not worth wasting my time with it.

Have cleared out my earrings and just kept the nice ones, nothing that looks overly fake or trashy.

Did 30 mins body combat.

Had a croissant for breakfast because that's what I wanted and I'm not feeling guilty about eating anymore- to go with this I have removed all diet/fitness type accounts from my Instagram and bloglovin- I was going insane not knowing what to eat for the best, feeling guilty all the time etc No more of that for me. The weight might come off slower (and I have lots to lose) but I need to stop being so obsessed with food.

Feeling quite positive today Smile

Please may I join?

I saw some video footage of myself at a conference last week and was horrified by the size of myself. How did I not know I had got so big?

So, I need to lose 2 - 3 stone. I actually have loads of lovely clothes, I just cannot fit into them. I really do have to have a big clear out though.

I also need to prioritise my uni course and spend less time mumsnetting procrastinating. Although it's not a physical thing it will make me happier.

I am also growing out my fringe and think this will be an improvement.

I need to only buy clothes I absolutely love, rather than thinking "that will do." I think because I hate my body shape I just think anything will look shit anyway.

Also need to drink less no alcohol. As I get older I find my body just isn't processing it and my hangovers are hellish even after three or four drinks Sad

And yes - need to be in bed by ten.

I have a disability which makes exercise very hard, but I have been having reiki which has really had an effect on my pain levels ( which means I can exercise a little)

I love the idea of a role model - "what would x do?" I think I will chose Elle Mc Pherson as she is my age and I reckon she is horribly disciplined.

I am off to a birthday party later but will drive so I cannot drink. So that is my start for the day. Also made a dentist appointment this week.

Just spent half an hour sloughing dead skin off my hooves and then ordering some footners from Amazon. Then called dentist to make long overdue appointment and got into my running clothes. Now I'm debating jogging round to the shop to get a pizza for lunch. That's not what 'she' would do, is it? Grin

I aim to
shower every day
Look after my feet
re pierce my ears, have the surgical spirit ready Grin, they aren't completely healed.
Keep up with eyebrows.
Find a cut facial hair remover solution.
Invest in some good beauty products, cleanser, moisturiser etc.
Have a good haircut/ restyle/ may colour not sure.
I was embracing my silver but it makes me look old atm.
Drink more water
Get more sleep, go to bed before midnight.
Lose about 2 stone.
Buy some nice new clothes.

All the free or inexpensive things first and then save for other stuff.

Oooh, lovely. I'm in. Baby steps for me I think it will be doing my exercises every day (bad back) which will mean I can actually do some exercise to lose 5kg. This week I will do them every day.

I'm having a haircut to meat song already get my eyebrows done every two weeks, I'm a dentist so my teeth are ok! If I can exercise I always look and feel better so that's a good start.

Thanks op.

I feel so guilty reading this that I've just turned down a (3rd) coffee and got a glass of water!!

My list is pretty much the usual, but the first thing I'd really like to do is get my make-up better - I have no idea what to do with my eyes so still do what I did in 6th form (many, many moons ago...). Am not keen on sitting in the middle of a department store for all to gawp and silently comment at, so does anyone have any suggestions? Am on a seriously tight (non-existent, almost) budget.....

HairsprayQueen · 12/03/2016 13:27

kayessbee I'd try YouTube tutorials to get tips (maybe Lisa Eldridge, Pixi Woo, Wayne Goss but there are loads there).

Make Up Revolution and Make Up Academy do cheap palettes (well all sorts of make up) if you see colour schemes you like but don't have, better to test it cheap, you can always upgrade at a later date.

There are lots of make up tutorials on YouTube kayessbee, you could have a look and see if there's anything you like?

Me me me me!! I start work again in May but in a much more senior position (promoted on Mat leave) so before then I need to:

Shift baby weight (nearly there though, thanks to 5:2)
Haircut and maybe colour
Regular eyelash tint and eyebrow shape. Quite tempted by an eyebrow tint but am v fair and every time I even put makeup on my eyebrows I think I look a bit Frida Kahlo
Whiten teeth - I used some whitening strips before my wedding which worked well, might get them again.
Grown up work clothes. This is tough as I haven't ever really had them before. I am thinking smart dresses, tights, grown up shoes. Am going to go shopping when the last 2 kg have shifted.
Grown up work make up to go with them
Maybe a babyliss big hair if I can get one cheapish....
Exercise......will start by walking to work 3 days a week so prob about a mile each day. Would love to get back into running but not until I stop BFing - really hurt my back last time.

Phew. That's a lot. Will order whitening strips now as step one and see if I can get an appointment for eyelashes and eyebrows....

littleleftie · 12/03/2016 15:29

What brand of whitening strips do people use that actually work?
