I'd like to talk about my tits. And other people's tits. I'd like to start a Tit Thread.

I bra intervened myself with the help of a MN thread from aaaages ago I found on google.

I've changed size shape, not loads, but enough for my bra to be tight. Had cup spillage, digging in around the back, all a fucking disaster.

I was uncomfortable, my back ached and my boobs were deeply miserable.

Current bras were pretty threadbare anyway and the knickers weren't much better. It all needs replacing.

Bought a new bra. Lovely. Fits beautifully. Ordered more. Found a company called Curvy Kate and am already a fan.

I am once again at peace with the world. Bras and boobs are now my new hobby.

However, whilst browsing online for bra advice I came across loads of sites saying the bra measurey ladies in shops just say anything to get you to buy stuff and catalogue/website models are nearly ALL wearing the wrong sizes in pictures.

Is this true?

Is there a conspiracy?

I'm fascinated!

It isn't breastfeeding that changes your breasts, it's pregnancy, or that's what a breast feeding counsellor friend told me.

Having always been a bit 'hung up' about my substantial norks, (30G) breastfeeding two DC made me feel much prouder of them.

On the bra side of things, I find Panache wires dig into the middle. Fantasies do the job but I never feel very lovely in them. I never feel confident in Freya. Curvy Kate just ain't my shape. I've recently invested in a Prima Donna, ( Belgian brand) it's early days.

Peaceandloveeveryone · 07/03/2016 20:59

I love prima Donna bras, the one that I tried on was £98 though.

I attempted a bra intervention on our admin team, all of whom are wearing at least 36 back bras, and 3 out of 4 of them are very slim.

Sure enough, their new measurements made 3 or them 32 and one a 30. They all tried the new sizes on and refused to change citing tightness and back hamsters.

I failed.

SorrelForbes · 07/03/2016 21:07

BennyTheBall I bet they didn't try a big enough cup or scoop!

Wagglebees · 07/03/2016 21:15

I'd be inclined to believe this actually as my boobs altered a lot after 5 rounds of IVF and two early losses. So no breast feeding but a shit load of extra hormones. Shame as I had spectacular boobs before that. I still like them but the change was a shock,

Wagglebees · 07/03/2016 21:16

Grin back hamsters

LBOCS2 · 07/03/2016 21:28

Stumbly, I'm a 36GG and I breastfed DD1 to 20 months. I was about that size before, I went up a couple of cup sizes when my milk came in, it settled down and then I went back to a 36GG. Because they didn't change very much in terms of size, they actually pretty much went back to how they were before. I'm pregnant again now and my back has gone up to a 38, but boobs still look and feel the same.

One of my friends likened her boobs post breastfeeding to socks filled with sand but her weight fluctuates a lot, both in the run up to being pregnant and after she had the baby. I think that had a big effect.

Eugh - don't talk to me about bras! I've just lost some weight and none of my bras fit. Currently wearing a 34F from tesco, but the cups are too small. I need to find something comfy that doesn't push my boobs either together or out to the sides Hmm

Wagglebees · 07/03/2016 22:26

Yy to weight fluctuations. The hormones I took made my boobs balloon up to a painful level. Really heavy and sore. Then when the meds stopped suddenly they deflated like two sad party balloons. Blush They've filled out again but aren't as firm as they were previously. I need to find bras for bottom heavy boobs with high middle bits and a bit of padding.

LemonRedwood · 07/03/2016 22:31

What's a bra intervention? I want one!

dylsmimi · 07/03/2016 22:32

How fortuitous to find this thread!!
I searched on mumsnet for maternity bras but having bigger boobs hate that maternity bras never fit and aren't underwired. Did the bra website measurement (intervention?) thingy and have been wearing a 34c and am now a 34f !
The only one I could find today was a lovely purple one from tk max - it's sooo much better so I am a happy lady today! My boobs are going to look amazing tomorrow!!!! Grin

LBOCS2 · 07/03/2016 22:38

I didn't wear maternity bras or breastfeeding bras. I read around it a bit and as long as your bra fits properly and isn't putting any pressure on breast tissue then underwire shouldn't be an issue. And my boobs were big enough to pop out over the top of the cups when I was breastfeeding - plus the fact that they were there actually helped hold them up while baby was feeding!

dylsmimi · 07/03/2016 22:43

Last time I was advised about a maternity bra I got them home then cried at how awful they were Blush so always have worn underwired ones since
Did use nursing bras as had enough trouble with clothes and a ds who likes to pull my top up while feeding to not have the little clip things!

willconcern · 07/03/2016 23:16

Bra intervention? What is that?

Can it increase size? I am 32AA after2 DCs. I rely on padding for ANY sort of cleavage. Can intervention help such a list cause?!

Flowers Maryz

My boobs looked strange for a while after I stopped feeding DS2, but they recovered after a year or so

I bet you aren't a 32AA, will.

Can I just say, except for posh places like R&P, THE place to buy bras for considerable norks is Debenhams?! They have Panache, Fantasie, Freya and do a really good own range, Gorgeous. And their sales are truly miraculous. £40-50 bras down to a fiver sometimes.

Suddenlyseymour · 08/03/2016 07:20

I have a quite specific bra issue - i only have 1 tit!! Had a mastectomy in november. So my right tit is there, lonely......and braless. As wearing a bra with nowt to put in the left side looks odd and is uncomfortable. I really don't mind having 1 boob, but am not that interested in stuffing prosthetics into theempty cup just to "even things up". I just wish a kind of half bra existed, so the boob i have could be supported!

SecretWitch · 08/03/2016 07:22

Yay for boobs of all shapes and sizes (.)(.)!! Always contemplate spending loads for a really posh bra but then go right back to my cheap favourites.

sadsister4 · 08/03/2016 07:29

I went from a 38B to a 34DD after bra intervention on here.

It honestly sticks in my memory as one of the best days of my life. My kids remember it too, as I burst into the house yelling "I'm a double D!!"

I may have also rang my XH in order to crow about it

It's completely changed my perception of my body though. I now have to consider my tits when buying clothes which I didn't before.

I must have looked a sight.

sadsister4 · 08/03/2016 07:33

M and S are still the most uncomfortable bras I own though, despite bra intervention.

SuddenlySeymour it's amazing that no such thing exists. What about some kind of baby sling arrangement? Get sketching and get on Dragon's Den!

(Seriously though, there should be some kind of help available. Have you mentioned it to your medical team? I'm speaking from a position of total ignorance, but it seems a pretty basic requirement to me).

Lweji · 08/03/2016 07:53

An excellent shop local to me does specialised advice for mastectomies.
I'm sure there'll be somewhere in the UK.
I'd be thinking a pouch to place a replacement breast to even things out.
