I'd like to talk about my tits. And other people's tits. I'd like to start a Tit Thread.

I bra intervened myself with the help of a MN thread from aaaages ago I found on google.

I've changed size shape, not loads, but enough for my bra to be tight. Had cup spillage, digging in around the back, all a fucking disaster.

I was uncomfortable, my back ached and my boobs were deeply miserable.

Current bras were pretty threadbare anyway and the knickers weren't much better. It all needs replacing.

Bought a new bra. Lovely. Fits beautifully. Ordered more. Found a company called Curvy Kate and am already a fan.

I am once again at peace with the world. Bras and boobs are now my new hobby.

However, whilst browsing online for bra advice I came across loads of sites saying the bra measurey ladies in shops just say anything to get you to buy stuff and catalogue/website models are nearly ALL wearing the wrong sizes in pictures.

Is this true?

Is there a conspiracy?

I'm fascinated!

fluffywol

You should be looking at around 36F or 34G, UK sizes.

fluffywol · 08/03/2016 16:31

Confused Thanks Lweji.

Stevie77 · 08/03/2016 16:50

It isn't breastfeeding that changes your breasts, it's pregnancy That.

I bra intervened myself and am now wearing 32D down from 34C. I even had one 36! However, struggled to find new bras that fit well due to shape but have had some success with Elle Macpherson's bras and Chantelle.

arielmanto · 08/03/2016 17:03

I have a tenny weeny set of boobs and I can't fit in any bras I find - I may as well not wear one but I want to look PRETTTTY and if I plumb my measurements into an online calculator, I kid you not, it reads "error". I am confined to Gap's crop tops, like a 12 year old.
It does mean running is easy though, none of that bouncing around business.

IJustLostTheGame · 08/03/2016 17:14

I'm a 28g. Actually a 29 ff and a half Hmm
I want pretty bras.
There's a lady at bravissimo in Brighton who does really good fittings. She knows what comes up big and small and what will suit. I love her.

Lweji · 08/03/2016 18:01

What are your measures, ariel?

When looking for my sister (no boobs except when breastfeeding) I found a few sites that catered for small breasts even to AAA.

Obs2016 · 08/03/2016 18:27

I hate bra buying. By the time I've worn it, and finally realised it's comfy, I go to buy another..... Nope!

LemonRedwood · 08/03/2016 20:37

Ok, so I think Ive intervened myself using sparkle's post in the link Barefoot gave. If I've done it right then I wasn't too far out in the first place. Have been a Bravissimo customer for a few years and tend to try on to find what feels right rather than relying on measurement. Currently have lots of 34F bras, but not bought any new ones for a couple of years.

So... I measured underbust = 34"
Measured round fullest bit while bending over = 43"
So that make me a 34G? Is that right?

I feel a shopping spree coming on Grin

Lweji · 08/03/2016 20:40

Bravissimo customers don't need bra interventions. They just need to go for a regular check up like for the dentist. Grin

LemonRedwood · 08/03/2016 20:44

Oh, hang on, just read the blog and I didn't do the tape measure "pretty tight" underbust as recommended. So new starting measurement:

Underbust = 32.5
Overbust = 43

So would that be 32GG or 32H?

LemonRedwood · 08/03/2016 20:45

Ah, Lweji, it may have been a couple of years but I still visit bravissimo more often than I visit the dentist! Grin Blush

Lweji · 08/03/2016 20:47

Me too, but that is another thread... Wink
And I don't even live in the UK now. Grin

ouryve · 08/03/2016 23:20

Yes, Lemon, you measure the same as me, at the moment!

Re straps falling off the shoulders, that's why I get on so well with curvy kate - their straps don't fall off as they're a little closer set. I always end up hitching up freya. Triumph Amourette 300 also exceptionally good for not having to hitch up, but work better going up a strap size from the Bra Intervention if you want to avoid East - West pointing boobs. Makes a rather good house bra.

coveredinhopeandvaseline · 09/03/2016 08:37

Had a baby...went from 32FF to 34HH. Bra measurer in Debenhams tried to put me in a 38DD...needless to say she looked a bit scundered with herself when I tried the bugger on and the back was up my shoulders and the tits were cascading out of all available areas...I never knew it was possible to have 8 tits.
I also have to turn them into nursing bras as I'm BF'ing and my tits laugh in the face of nursing bras without wires.

Curvy Kate though...strapless bra in 34HH, wore it to a wedding and didn't have to hoike it up once. Amazing.

arielmanto · 09/03/2016 11:38

Sorry Llewji, I forgot to reply - underboob 27", boob 29.5".. help me!

Lweji · 09/03/2016 12:16

These ones
www.daintylady.co.uk/ (uk)
www.thelittlebracompany.com/pages/sizing-tips
www.littlewomen.com/aa-bras?back_size=65&cup_size=194%2C195%2C198
have sizes from 28 (possibly ok for you?)

And a blog with reviews of different brands
thelingerielesbian.com/2013/06/12/the-best-bras-for-small-busts/

Based on a back size of 28 you could fit an A or B.
But if you are skinny (like me), a 28 may feel way too tight. If you can't find a shop with a 28 back, you could pop in Bravissimo or another shop that carries these sizes and try the back size with the cup to the back, just to make sure which is best for you: 28 or 30.

PollyPerky · 09/03/2016 13:31

John Lewis does a reasonable number of 28 inch backs.
But I do find their styles vary hugely.
I measure 29.5 back. I can wear some 30s but also 32s depending on the style. I usually end up trying 6 bras in the same style, different sizes, before I am happy with the fit.

PollyPerky · 09/03/2016 13:33

Just to say- that Little Bra Company does the stupid thing of adding 4 inches to your under bust measurement. WTF?

Lweji · 09/03/2016 13:41

Yes, we just ignore the +4 thing.

PollyPerky · 09/03/2016 13:47

That's why I spent most of my life in 34 back instead of 30s. Grrrr.

arielmanto · 09/03/2016 14:15

I'm so excited! Damn this office where people keep walking in an interrupting my bra googling!

Lweji · 09/03/2016 14:21

Keep an eye for the adds that will pop on later when you check the news. Grin

Maybe google something innocuous later, like sofas or shoes.

Suziesome1 · 09/03/2016 15:49

Omg! I've always worn a 36. When I first needed a bra, was dutifully taken to m&s:36a (age 12/13), over the years increased to a 36c, now I've pregnancy boobs and they weren't fitting at all, line under the boobs, really uncomfy, so I bought a 38c thinking maybe my ribs were expanding, still no joy, measured myself this morning, I'm a 34 frikkin f! Went and tried on some and its amazing! :) I've very happy boobage :) a 34!!!!! My entire life ive been wearing the wrong size and I'm 35 years old!!!! My flaber is gasted!!!! Thank you ladies!

PestilentialCat · 09/03/2016 16:11

I hate bras!! I have never found them to be comfortable so I just don't wear one & never have, apart from when PG & BF. Fortunately my boobs are small huge poke your eye out nipples though so don't bounce around too much.

The last bra I tried was 36A & drove me berserk such that I was removing it down my armholes as soon as possible & stuffing it in my bag.

I ought to try again with a smaller band & bigger cup as I'm not sure being a 50yo braless nipply woman is entirely appropriate much of the time Grin

HowToProceed · 09/03/2016 16:12

hmmmm. i wore a 36c for years. did the intervention and measured (i think) a 33 under and a 39 or 40 over. i was told a 32 may or may not be too tight, but it put me at a 32f or a 34e. noth were actually too big, and i tried a 34dd which fits nicely (from most places) but dh will not believe i am a double d. no idea why (they dont look that big)
