Crapartist thanks for the recommendation, I have slathered myself in body creme and perfume is radiating from my skin rather than disappearing completely. Good tip... How did I not know that...?!? I am enjoying my perfume again, and not torturing myself thinking I am going nose-blind. I have totally lost my sense of smell before and it was really quite nightmarish. In theory we can live perfectly well without a sense of smell, but it made me feel awful, claustrophobic and panicky. But hey, this time, problem solved, and I can smell perfumes again.

SOTD Fracas. Beautiful buttery tuberose, seems to go very well with the spring flowers and chocolatey-ness of Easter.

FrustratedFrugal · 28/03/2016 19:44

I walked through a duty free and saw a bottle of Oscar. It's probably been reformulated gazillions of times but still packs a powerful punch. It took me back to my best friend's bedroom in 1984. Proper adult women smelled like that, brisk and slightly starchy and laced with cloves and unknown heavy flowers. I'm much older now than my friend's mother was then but I've never been able to reach that level of maturity...

Otherwise, nothing to report. I spent the holidays at MIL''s and she doesn't like perfume, so I wore nothing except a tiny amount of 1932 on Sunday.

TrinityForce · 28/03/2016 19:54

Paco Rabanne Olympea, really nice.

Nothing I can compare it to, give it a test if you see it!

Feawen · 28/03/2016 20:41

Glad to hear you found your Oscar, Frugal!

Sotd is Jasmin from Fragonard. It's a light, green jasmine that suited today's sunshine and showers, rather than the heady smell of blooming jasmine in hot sun. Another sample I've enjoyed rather than faen in live with!

Feawen · 28/03/2016 20:41

Uh...fallen in love with.

MrsCocoa · 28/03/2016 22:43

Fun though it was to start with, by day 3, the fascination of smelling of nut butter and wet plaster has worn off. Back to Bois de Violette for something beautiful and ethereal.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 29/03/2016 07:39

I tried my last Heeley sample, Sel Marin the other day.

Meh.

It was lovely lovely lovely in a sharp, slightly masculine ozoney way for about 8 seconds. Then nothing. Nada. Vamoosed.

I don't think I'll be bothering with any more Heeleys after my 3 samples. The descriptions were all so pretty, but the reality left me underwhelmed.

I liked Hippie Rose, until I realised the day after the big whack of patchouli that remains made me smell like a hairy biker who hadn't showered for a fortnight (and I love patchouli!) The Chypre 21, as I said, was like my dad's Brut 33 in the 70s. The Sel Marin has potential but only for the first spritz seemingly. At least on me!

FrustratedFrugal · 29/03/2016 16:56

Another day wearing Diorissimo. It fades quickly so I considered something else - I now keep Prada Infusion de Vetiver and Deseo in my office just in case I need a midafternoon pick-me-up Wink

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 29/03/2016 17:27

Bought L'Eau de Artisan today. it's very nice but reminds me of something and i can't quite think what it is.

cressetmama · 29/03/2016 19:31

Once upon a time, when I was 16 (in the 1970s) I won a 250ml bottle of O de Lancome. I have also worn L'eau d'Artisan; they are similar. Could that be it? Have not worn scent today, and DH is away, so may spray one of his pet hates to sleep in? It would be Corps et Ames if I had any, but I don't. What does your DP dislike that you love?

cressetmama · 29/03/2016 19:31

Punctuation fail!

maryclarey · 29/03/2016 21:52

So glad it worked Yetanother 😊

SOTD was MFK Oud and now post gym shower I am lazing about in JHAG Midnight Oud spritzed PJs. think I might like Ouds.

I just ordered about 40 samples from LuckyScent, including a spring edit. Squee!

I have been switching between M. Micallef's Vanille Orient and Molecule 01.

AppleSetsSail · 29/03/2016 22:03

I also have been wearing 4160's Sleep Knot as of late. They sent this to me as a free sample when I ordered chocolate something or other.

getoffthattabletnow · 29/03/2016 22:45

Rosee de Nuit today by Friedemodin.Followed by vintage Nahema which certainly smelt smoky, sweet and vintage and sort of interesting and different to how it is today.Bought a micro mini of this perfume off eBay.
L Eau d D'Artisan is similar to Annick Goutal Eau de Sud and Clarins Eau Dynamisante .Both of which I have worn in the past which is probably why I love L Eau d D'Artisan.
Sorry that the Bois Farine was not a success Mrs cocoa .Love Sel Marin too plus virtually all Heeley perfumes but the longevity is rubbish even if over-sprayed.

MrsCocoa · 30/03/2016 00:00

Thanks Getoff - fortunately having bought it at a silly price, and with the ability to sell on via Ebay, I''m enjoying the low risk experimentation. Think I need to look out for L'Eau de L'Artisan though - Eau du Sud is a long term favourite and I've worn O de Lancome too.

Cresset - DH is v unpredictable - he's scathing about some fairly innocuous things (Ninfeo Mio), but swoons at other things that are not a million miles apart (Seville a L'Aube).

MrsCocoa · 30/03/2016 00:08

And on the DIY front, the leather monster has been quietly macerating, but having just re-tested, it definitely has shape shifting properties! Opens with citrus, then moves into a pronounced smoky leather phase, then onto sweet powder. It needs a bit more staying power, but very exciting to see how notes behave in combination.

FrustratedFrugal · 30/03/2016 04:34

OneNight another near dupe for L'Eau d'Artisan is Eau Sauvage, a masculine classic. Both are a herby, I think it's basil. Thanks for reminding me of Eau de Sud, I was thinking of it last night.

DH dislikes Le Labo Labdanum. It's a comfort scent for me, like the gray sweatpants version of Shalimar, but he really doesn't like it.

MrsCocoa · 30/03/2016 05:12

That'll be it Frugal - Eau Sauvage is another long term favourite. Other basil-featuring fragrances I've known and loved include 4711 (which now I think about it is a distant cousin of Eau du Sud), Mure et Musc, and Grain de Folie. What else should I try?

Bit naughty of me linking a thread, but was just wondering, are there any perfumes that make any of you guys feel as bad as the posters on this thread?

The only one I can think of that used to make me open the windows in my office was Tresor, which I hold responsible for all the pink sherbetty perfumes around these days.

My Mum used to say Amarige smelled of cigarette smoke to her, but I've smelled it recently and quite liked it.

AppleSetsSail · 30/03/2016 07:57

Tresor! I'm transported to the 90s.

getoffthattabletnow · 30/03/2016 09:48

Eau de Campagne Mrs Cocoa - Basil with tomato leaf.I'm wearing it today in honour of this thread.Love the sharp Galbanum/Tomato leaf opening but the Drydown is very much a masculine leathery Vetiver and Oakmoss.Definitely has a Barber Shop appeal

cressetmama · 30/03/2016 10:15

Eau Sauvage is great, the sexiest smell ever on a chap. Ninfeo Mio is nice but ordinary on me, and I think I am in a minority of one in not liking the Clarins. But I love the Dior Escale a Paraty, which is also citrus though with a hit of tonka bean to follow.

We are loving the Noble Isle Whisky and Water handwash we discovered in Scotland, but it had to be moved from the kitchen window sill as none of us found it quite right first thing, and it's too strong if one is cooking. Will look at the bad scent thread after walking the Cressethound, but Angel springs to mind!

cressetmama · 30/03/2016 19:38

Are you all on the late shift/holiday? SoTD was JHaG Moondance. It's still lovely 10 hours later.

FrustratedFrugal · 30/03/2016 19:58

About to go to bed (different time zone). Escale a Parati is fantastic, I saw a bottle on sale a few years ago and still regret not buying it. Normally would be thinking about a bedtime perfume, not feeling like it tonight, but will spray my pillow with Deep Sleep Pillow Spray (I have a never-ending stash of hotel minis)
