Ooh Cresset, thank you! I still haven't been to the PO, but as soon as these dratted exams are through, I shall do!

I am also on a no-buy month, because I need more clothes and less perfume.

My next FB will be a Givenchy III though. I have 2 miniatures from gift sets still stockpiled but it's one that deserves a great big ginormous bottle.

BluebellGal · 11/05/2016 10:21

Haven't been on in a while (too busy)

SoTD Miss Charming by JHAG - smells like toilet cleaner on me. It's weird and I don't like it.

Yesterday I tested Black Orchid (Tom Ford) loved it, amazing. Can't afford it though (any cheaper smell-a-likes out there?)

YetAnotherNC · 11/05/2016 12:15

Samples arrived from Anatole Lebreton, in Marseille... The envelope smelled amazing! I am trying Eau Scandaleuse today. Really woody to my nose, hints of leather, a bit animalic, some gentle yellow(?) or white (?) florals, enjoying so far....

I got 4 decent sized samples, (good 2ml+) for 12.70 euros, all the way from south of France. Bargain treat! Grin

MsBojangles · 11/05/2016 13:44

So...this whole no-buy thing, does it include samples? Blush

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 11/05/2016 14:23

Oh god oh god, another sample website I didn't need to know about Grin

That woody leather sounds just up my street.

I always say no full bottles and then end up spending about 3 times a month more on samples and mini bottles anyway.

The first time I smelled Black Orchid I literally went "phwoar" in the middle of the airport. It's on my full bottle list too.

MsBojangles · 11/05/2016 16:19

SOTD is Mary Greenwell's Fire, I can't get over how good this is - it's one of those perfumes that the more I wear the more I love. It's probably not one I would have gravitated to so the recommendation was invaluable.

FrustratedFrugal · 11/05/2016 17:13

SOTD AA Nerolia Bianca.

I bought.a bottle of No. 19 EDT a few years ago and according to the code in the bottle it was from 2001. Bought from a perfumery, mind you Grin I bet they have just updated the bottle a bit and reformulated no way can they discontinue this gem.

YetAnotherNC · 11/05/2016 18:24

Eewwww.... What a shame.... Really not sure about the drydown of Eau Scandaleuse. Such a shame as very interesting and different. Tried Bois Lumiere, and LOVED the first notes, but after about an hour, euurrrgh, it had dried down to a really really animalic weird scent. And I love animalics, so this must be stroooong. I really wanted to like these, but no luck so far. If Bois Lumiere stayed like its opening, I'd buy it, but nooooooo! Washed off, and am trying Incarnata now. Does smell very lipsticky. Hmm

I will try them all again as I am famously fickle, and love things that once I hated (e.g. Theo Fennell Scent which I can now not get enough of).

MrsCocoa · 11/05/2016 20:27

An back with Seville a l'Aube today. Think warm aromatic citruses are just the thing for most days of a British spring. They still work if you're shivering at a damp bus stop in a buttoned up raincoat. Saving my cooler citruses/aromatics for high summer!

MsBojangles · 11/05/2016 20:38

Gah, MrsC that's on my sample 'to do' list too...temptation everywhere!

Can you all please wear nothing but Chanel No 5 or Angel for the next few weeks, thanks Grin

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 12/05/2016 06:13

MsB- without also wishing to be an enabler, the splendid thing about a sample of Seville a l'Aube (IMO) is that its longevity is phenomenal compared to other neroli/orangey based perfumes. When I got my sample I liberally gave myself a couple of good squirts and almost gassed myself and the immediate neighbourhood (in a good way) I was used to those notes disappearing after about 10 minutes, but Seville is great value for money in that respect so you'd be churlish not to get a sample! Grin

MsBojangles · 12/05/2016 11:59

That's true, my namby pamby Jo Malone vanishes without a trace after about twenty minutes and that stuff wasn't cheap...I also fancied teta's Houbigant Orangers en Fleurs.....FGS....

ENABLERS, the lot of you!!!!

cressetmama · 12/05/2016 16:17

SoTD is Tobacco Flower, which is a bit too sweet solo, so I added a dash of Penhaligon's Artemisia to give a hit of bitterness. Now sniffing with interest to see if the combo works. I am sat next to my sample stash, because it's fun to look back and re-try things that didn't work in winter but which might just be the ticket to summer perfection. It's a day of two halves here; this morning was mild and grey and damp, and now the sun is out, it's warm and very humid.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 12/05/2016 17:23

I got Dd Fragonard Fleur d'Oranger at Christmas which is also a half hour pleasure, as is my Yves Rocher Essence de Neroli. Both cheap as chips mind.

wiltingfast · 12/05/2016 18:07

SOTD M&S Lyn Harriss La Rose

Alas, I like this, but it inevitably makes me a bit swoony and sick. Had to scrub it off my wrists earlier Blush The odd whiff from behind my ears has only a slight effect!

This is quite rosy with a greenish powdery heart. It feels quite old fashioned but with a twist. I wish I tolerated it better as I do like it! In any case I am ready to part with it, fed up trying, any interest, PM me Smile

Should we start an actual swap thread????

teta · 12/05/2016 18:18

L Ete En Douce pre-gym and after,California Reverie.I've been wearing a lot of Neroli/orange Blossom,Linden Blossom and Frangipani in the last few warmer days.
I've gots lots of 'swops' available .

cressetmama · 12/05/2016 20:23

Rather pleasant after a few hours marinading. Not sure which half of the cocktail is lingering, but nice anyway.

BluebellGal · 12/05/2016 20:56

SoTD Pell Wall Tuesdays. I could smell chocolate and orange, but not in a sweet sickly way. It is actually quite dark and spicey. I liked it a lot. But longeivity was not very good (perhaps because it was a hot day, it is not an atomiser sample? I always moisturise before I spray).

Second SoTD was Stella (pink bottle) which was a lovely strong English rose, but faded very quickly so not very impressed.

Ambroxide · 12/05/2016 22:59

I think I am missing the point of Fire. Have a nearly full bottle so anyone who wants a sample, please shout.

SOTD vintage Miss Dior. GORGEOUS. Dry, spicy, uncompromising, green, soapy, GORGEOUS. Did I say 'gorgeous'? I would have a FB like a shot if I could. Does anyone know how the modern version compares?

YetAnotherNC · 13/05/2016 13:31

SOTD L'Air du Desert Marrocain... Incense, peaceful

MsBojangles · 13/05/2016 13:38

Ambroxide, the modern Miss Dior is a pale imitation. I've got a bottle and a half of vintage so plenty to go around, although I've spied a fair bit on eBay too for surprisingly decent prices.

SOTD: Rome 1963, white flowers and ashtrays - yum!

CointreauVersial · 13/05/2016 16:36

Ambroxide - would love a sample of Fire, if you're offering! I have had a single tester squirt, but it wasn't enought to really decide if it was for me or not.

SOTD is Serge Lutens Gris Clair. A bit of an impulse choice, and it's slightly getting on my nerves today - I think it's possibly better in cold weather.

wiltingfast · 14/05/2016 14:02

I'd love a sample too ambroxide but am in Ireland? No worries if that does not suit!

MsBojangles · 14/05/2016 14:22

5 O'Clock au Gingembre, it's cold!

waitingforgodot · 14/05/2016 16:45

Hello experts! Can you please recommend me some new perfumes if I tell you what I like? My current favourite is angelique sous la pluie. I also like Bigarade concentree
