It's brilliant! Not once did I have to unceremoniously hoik the crotch of my tights back up

Thanks for the tip :)

Not meaning to spoil the party, but doesn't it give you thrush doing that?

fruityb · 15/02/2016 19:45

I've never had it. I do wear pants under my tights as well as over them. Can feel a little bulky but stops the thigh rub when my tights fall down!

TheWordOfBagheera · 15/02/2016 19:46

Is it an extra pair of pants over the top, or just one pair of pants but worn over the tights?

I worry that the tights and pants just swapped round would be uncomfortable, but that two pairs of pants seems excessive...

CosmicOwl · 15/02/2016 19:48

I always do this, nice big black belly warmers, I have to do it over M&S tights too.

toffeeboffin · 15/02/2016 19:48

'stops the thigh rub when my tights fall down!'

It's worth a try just for this!

saves diet for next year

CosmicOwl · 15/02/2016 19:49

Pants, tights, pants TheWordOfBagheera

fruityb · 15/02/2016 19:56

You know what I mean Toffee? That small gap at the top can be incredibly uncomfortable! Plus I can't seem to pull my tights up without moving my knees in and out to help them lol.

I lost over a stone and was within my target weight but that thigh rub never quite went lol

KatharinaRosalie · 15/02/2016 20:01

I never understood what people meant about tights falling down, but then had the misfortune to encounter a particularly horrible M&S pair that indeed had no elastic whatsoever and pretty much flapped around.

Decent tights stay up without help though. If normal ones don't work, try some tummy control ones, those generally stay up beautifully.

Annecyinyourpantsy · 15/02/2016 20:01

Wear my big black pants over tights so if wind was to whip up dress you would never notice. Makes me feel like a dancer or something when i get dressed!

ConesOfDunshire · 15/02/2016 21:30

I also wondered about thrush. Is it a pants-tights-pants sandwich?

MissSmiley · 15/02/2016 21:38

My worst ones for falling down are Wolford. Best for not falling down m & s. I still prefer Wolford for feel and look though. Do you think I'm wearing the wrong size? Is it a size thing?

SwedishEdith · 15/02/2016 21:47

"A lot of the old ladies at work do this!"

I wonder when one becomes one of "the old ladies at work".

I've done this for years.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/02/2016 21:52

Their in their 80's. When the hospital puts you on a geriatric ward you're old.

chanie44 · 15/02/2016 22:13

Confession - during to London Olympics, i bought OH a pair of boxers with 'Jamaica'written across the bum. They didn't fit him, so they are now my tights knickers and I wear them over my tights. Very comfy. Co wore them today.

Judydreamsofhorses · 15/02/2016 22:18

misssmiley I love Wolford tights but I buy a size up - by their charts I should be medium (I'm 5ft 6 and a size 10/12) but large is better, and never falls down. (Plus almost at my boobs so nice and cosy!)

IDismyname · 15/02/2016 22:19

Pot of yoghurt

Love the term pant croissant. A perfect description.

SirChenjin · 15/02/2016 22:21

I used to do this when I was younger - completely forgotten about it! Now I wear control tights and don't need to Sad

I saw a young women with socks under her opaque tights the other day - used to do that too and had also forgotten about that little trick.

MissRabbitHasTooManyJobs · 15/02/2016 22:28

I've done this since secondary school and I'm 38 now. Another tip is to wear a thong over tights as keeps them up better but a nice stretchy cotton one not a sexy material type!
I've converted two of my nieces who refused to wear tights to school in the winter ( obv no thongs Grin )
And that's the only time I ever wear thongs btw. I love big comfy knickers normally and find the combination of both works wonders :)

WhatWouldFlopDo · 15/02/2016 22:32

It's a size thing for me Miss. I'm about a size 12 and have started to buy extra large tights, I can ping them right up over my muffin top and they never roll down. If I buy my actual size I'm yanking them all day.

BitOutOfPractice · 16/02/2016 00:38

I too am a double panter quite regularly

MissRabbitHasTooManyJobs · 16/02/2016 06:36

I'm a 16 so feel your pain! Tights are often designed to fit height and not actual size/weight.
There's got to be a dragons den product out there for this, tights with over the top knickers built in Grin

Cerseirys · 16/02/2016 07:49

Best tight I've ever worn were control-top opaques from Primark that came up to my bra line. They sucked everything in and never migrated south!

SirChenjin · 16/02/2016 09:17

Primark high waisted ones control tops are amazing aren't they? For what - £3 I think it was?

Cerseirys · 16/02/2016 09:49

Are they still available? I used to really rate their tights and socks and I had a strong feeling they used the same manufacturer as M&S. But I bought a pair of socks from Primark a few weeks ago and the quality has definitely declined.

SirChenjin · 16/02/2016 09:53

I'm pretty sure they are. I'm heading to the shops this afternoon so if I get a chance I'll pop into Primark and report back.
