I really would rather go naked than wear fur.

FedupNagging · 13/01/2016 18:40

Anyone particularly feeling the cold may like to invest in a pair of these trousers

How are you doing Lib? that Toast dress is lovely.

Lara great haul - love the boots. What footwear will you wear with the flares? I only have one pair of flats and one pair of heels that I can wear with mine.

Good shopping Shop, love the coatigan, what a bargain!

Hope you managed to cope with your first day back at work Blingy.

Ootd is J Brand jeans, this sweater with fake collar and pettys, navy coatigan and giant blue flecked scarf when I ventured outside.

Longislandicetee · 13/01/2016 18:45

Ugh. Bad and stupid decision to go to work. Why didn't dh stop me?Hmm. I found out the hard way that I am not better. Sad back later.

Karcheer · 13/01/2016 18:52

Ah blingy poor you :(

Ok this really is a stupid question, but why when there was a big backlash against fur did most people continue with leather?

maradesbois · 13/01/2016 19:03

Karcheer I wear real fur. Decide what's ok for you either way. That's a lot of outfit changes in one day btw!

Shop great buys. I tried to buy jeans in Anna sale but kept getting kicked out of website so gave up. Big wave to Sleep if she's reading.

Lara gorgeous stuff although have to say I really didn't like the big chloé jumper either. Meant to reply to your post the other day about the jumping boots shredding your feet though Shock. Do you think they'll get comfortable in time? I need flats to be comfortable. Also do you need super skinny calves to wear them? Mine aren't huge or out of proportion but definitely not skinny either...

maradesbois · 13/01/2016 19:06

Oh no Blingy, back to bed with a lemsip.

Yesterday I bought this shirt at marant sale. Not very exciting but a good basic.

Karcheer · 13/01/2016 19:08

mara I'm torn. I love the look, I wear leather, I eat meat, I love foie gras. But I love animals, my children are after all two cocker spaniels (I can't have human children).
I guess it's just farmed in the same way meat is nowadays isn't it?

shopafrolic · 13/01/2016 19:22

It depends what the animal is Karcheer
Some animals are killed purely for their fur, and discarded. Å´ith leather the assumption would be that the beef is being eaten and the hide is a bi product of that. The PETA website can explain more.

LinusLovesBretons · 13/01/2016 20:01

I don't think I would go out and buy a fur coat but, on the other hand, I do eat meat, wear leather, drink dairy (I visited a state of the art dairy farm once, I was shocked to hear that the male calves are 'not wanted')

I do own a down coat and I just checked the brand's website and they have a whole page about their protocol for acquiring the down (farmed animal that will be eaten, no live plucking, not from force-fead animals, etc)

No mention of the 'fur' trim on the hood. I don't know what it is, so it might be real fur or it might not.

And how about silk? Silk worms get boiled with their cocoons.

I think everyone has to decide for themselves what they are comfortable with wearing and eating.

Karcheer · 13/01/2016 20:15

linus you should eat English veal, it's the male dairy cows.

FedupNagging · 13/01/2016 20:18

I wouldn't go out to buy fur either but like others, wear leather, eat meat etc - am probably being naive but find it acceptable to wear leather as Shop says, the whole animal is being utilised. But it is a personal decision.

So, the Boden order finally arrived and most of it is being returned!
Orange cardi is a definite keeper for summer.

I love these boots but am undecided as are a little tight on my wide feet. Am wondering if the leather will give much unlike the pettys. Queen I think you had your eye on them - definitely order as they really are a lovely pair of boots.

Oh dear Blingy sounds like you need to put your feet up for a few more days.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/01/2016 20:21

Blingy oh no, poor you :( back to bed and lots of rest. Maybe some shopping this time? :) Look after yourself, I've learned the hard way that you must always listen to your body!

Lara and shop lovely links, love the boots and the coatigan.

Dry yay! Sounds fab!

I wouldn't knowingly wear fur either, but I do eat foie gras very occasionally when I am in France. Blush I guess that's just where my line is. And the line is blurred by "ethical" fur (humanely sourced as a bi product etc like Linus's down coat). I don't feel the need to seek it out though.

AmberNectarine · 13/01/2016 20:23

There is very little regulation in the fur industry and the practices used in harvesting it are nothing short of barbaric (thing anal electrocution or being skinned alive). It is a world away from the leather industry.

I mean it when I say I would rather wear nothing.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 13/01/2016 20:28

i'm with amber i absolutely just couldn't knowingly wear real fur. faux all the way.

back to bed with you blingy and make sure yous tay there til you really are better

love the coatigan shop

Karcheer · 13/01/2016 20:29

fedup I have that orange cardi! I love it.

MarshaBrady · 13/01/2016 20:30

I wouldn't buy or wear any fur. The potential for barbaric practices is too much for me.

I avoid angora these days too. But I do wear leather and eat meat.

LinusLovesBretons · 13/01/2016 20:41

Forgot to say:

blingy please take it easy! I know you've been off sick for a while and must be getting cabin fever but you're body obviously needs more time to get better. (Imagine me saying that in my best mummy voice)

shop love the coatigan!

lara I really love those Chloé trousers, such an elegant cut. The fluffy jumper, not so much. Grin

lib that Toast dress is very you, gorgeous.

FedupNagging · 13/01/2016 21:04

I know some of you buy pieces from Brunello Cucinelli which I always love so am doing a spot of fantasy shopping:

Gorgeous

How soft does this jumper look? And in pink

Like these trousers

and this bag

Not too sure I'd want to tramp through muddy fields in these boots though!

Larastheme · 13/01/2016 21:17

I'm hurt that you all don't share the love for that gorgeous sweater, Winki will prove you wrong !! lib your on! And no the price is much more less here, realised the link is for a US based shop, its so almost half that price here,

shop beautiful haul, very dangerous to shop with friends, but so much fun!

fedup, not much footwear to go with the flares,, I asked them to shorten the hem for flats,I have a pair of chloe tan flats that will go well with them, plus I can still wear heels, just not wedge boots or other boots, I had to size up as the come really small but the waist is loose, but I like it this way very streamlined ,

mara, from my understanding the jumping boots come in two calf sizes, I honestly have no idea what mine are, they are much better and more comfortable now ,I couldn't walk down the stairs properly the first time I wore them Shock, my issue was that my heel was slipping the first few times and the leather was so hard , that caused the skin to peel on my ankle, but not any more, the box leather feels softer around the ankle area, the slipping stopped, its like the boots have adapted the shape of my feet Grin ,happy with them now, , the SA said that for my next pair i should wear thick socks, told her ,not gonna happen,I'm not going through it Again Grin,I had a cesarean and and the recovery time hurt less,

Drywhitethanks · 13/01/2016 21:23

no Blingy! Hope you're ok.

sleepwhenidie · 13/01/2016 21:35

Hello! A rare foray here to come and say hi

safetyzone · 13/01/2016 21:39

Hi everyone, enjoying the shopping links.

DD2 was ill last night so I'm tiny bit sleep deprived!

Re. fur, I'm ambiguous. I inherited a fur stole from DM, and have a fur hat and a parka with fur trim that I bought. Not really worn them apart from the parka though. I sound barbaric now...

Get well soon Blingy

And belated Happy Birthdays to one and shop

lib I love Toast but I can't buy them, they seem to design for giants, all their clothes somehow look wrong on me. I'm jealous of anyone who can wear their stuff!

Longislandicetee · 13/01/2016 22:36

Omg Sleep you must have a sixth sense for when I have been stupid! doesn't at all feel caught outShockBlush

libertydoddle · 13/01/2016 23:20

On Tube home after a lovely mini MU with Mara -- dirty Martinis and red wine. Slightly merry! She looked fab as always in her cashmere and with glossy hair.

I had a haircut, it's quite short and v curly. Feels good. V me.

sleep yay. Great to see you!!

libertydoddle · 13/01/2016 23:27

safety lots of Toast clothes are massive. It's a bit like Cos for me. I have to try on 10 things for every one that works but the items that do work tend to be great. They do vanity size but tbh that suits me and my carb and wine loving ways Blush
