They are in the machine.......

shopafrolic · 27/01/2016 15:50

The rinsing water is going dark red Shock
I am shi@@ing myself

LinusLovesBretons · 27/01/2016 15:55

Red shop?! Shock

All this talk of leather/pleather leggings has made me realise I have only worn my Paige pleather ones a handful of times. They were heavily discounted but not really good cpw so far.

I guess they are a bit too rock chic for me, I need to find a way of wearing them a bit more but in a dressed down way.

Karcheer · 27/01/2016 16:09

I dry clean cashmere and most wool after I shunk my favourite prada jumper :/

Forgive me mnv for I have sinned! I went to primark today :( only silly things like hair clip, flip flops for the gym shower, green sweatshirt and a blue tracksuit for dog walking/Sundays.
I did buy a chocolate jumper from uniqlo as well.

shopafrolic · 27/01/2016 16:35

In the dryer now......

MarshaBrady · 27/01/2016 16:46

Sounds positive Shop no scares as you took them out of washing machine

Stokey · 27/01/2016 17:04

Gosh I'd wash but rarely put anything of mine in the dryer, far too many bad experiences, good luck Shop.

DH is travelling. Curled up on the sofa with the Dds watching Labyrinth, Bowie is so cool.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 27/01/2016 17:23

I wash most things in the machine but tumble dry hardly anything at all. My sister managed to shrink her wool mix jumper in my tumble drier to comedy size and she was gutted as she was counting on it being clean to war the next morning! she's never used the tumble drier since though, just uses the heated rack for drying instead

shopafrolic · 27/01/2016 17:49

God - I might have a fashion related panic attack soon

MarshaBrady · 27/01/2016 18:14

Shop - what's the latest?

shopafrolic · 27/01/2016 18:26

Took them out of the dryer - not fully dry yet - seem ok but not quite as soft as they were........ am keeping going. Only £400ish down the drain if this goes wrong. EEK!!!

libertydoddle · 27/01/2016 18:26

shop my heart is in my mouth - update!!!!!

libertydoddle · 27/01/2016 18:27

Cross post Shock you are so brave Grin

shopafrolic · 27/01/2016 19:21

OK. So........ fit wise it has worked - they have shrunk back to their original snug fit. But..... the red colour in the wash must have been some kind of coating on the leather as they have lost their sheen. Lib I washed the Joseph ones not my precious Helmut Lang ones that you got me (they'll be dry clean all the way)
The good news is I quite like them a bit more matte but they have definitely changed.

shopafrolic · 27/01/2016 19:22

I did use a wool detergent on them (just a little) perhaps I need to give them a neutral shoe polish...... to feed the leather.

Phew shop.

Drywhitethanks · 27/01/2016 21:32

Bloody hell, I've just got in and read the thread....Shop I was stressed for you Shock and can't believe they survived, well done.
I only tumble try my cheap pants. Nothing else goes in there apart from bedding and towels .

Well, keep thinking about the Whistles skirt and skirt lengths for me. Looking at other women about my age at work and I don't think I'd look stupid with shorter. 19" feels very short, but it's hardly mini on me "Age appropriate" is a term I loathe but occasionally worry about.

linus I feel the same about my Amber's leaher skinnies. Love them but don't quite feel me in them.

Blingy what a fantastic OOTD.

KittyHello · 27/01/2016 21:55

Phew Shop just read all your posts, was on the edge of my seat Grin that was brave.

That's interesting to hear about your take on your (p)leathers Linus and Dry I think I'm slightly less classic than you and was thinking of trying leather leggings but obviously would prefer to pleather first, H&M did some back last year didn't they? I have a party to go to and fancy wearing a pair. What footwear do you wear with them?

Longislandicetee · 27/01/2016 21:56

OMG! Can't believe Shop did that!ShockNo way, absolutely no way.

Thank you for the outfit love.Smile I felt so good (on the outside anyway!) all day. Tomorrow is a big challenge for me. Try and look as good as I did today while doing smart casual dress down at work. Hmmm...!

Drywhitethanks · 27/01/2016 22:31

Kitty I tend to wear them with pointy flats. I wore them for evening a couple of times with Ghillies and courts, but felt wrong. I prefer them dressed down for me, with a sweater and my camel coat.

Dreamqueen · 28/01/2016 06:44

Wow Shop I admire your bravery & am glad that washing was a success. I'd never be that brave.

LinusLovesBretons · 28/01/2016 07:04

Morning!

kitty I wore mine to go out with my Manolos but, like dry, didn't feel quite right in that combo.

It was just too 'fierce' (silly word but the only one I can think of now) for my personal style.

I might try them with one of my Rails shirts and flats this weekend.

OOTD is a very boring J Crew Tippi, heattech and MiH jeans.

Have a good one!

shopafrolic · 28/01/2016 07:59

Just for any lurkers who are now planning on washing their leather trousers - they will end up looking different so think carefully! The reason I never liked my Joseph ones as much was because they were a bit too shiny so I like how they have ended up - but others might be majorly disappointed. Don't need that responsibility in my life.
Funny how different everyone feels about leathers - I could happily wear them everyday dressed up or down.
Nice night out for pasta and prosecco with a couple of NCT mum friends last night (one of whom I did the wardrobe edit for) - she's recommended me to a friend Blush
