Lara not been to kidzania, think mine are a little small though I haven't looked into it in any depth. Westfield is ok, as long as you stay in The Village. Term time shouldn't be too bad.

Blingy I've done some stupid things in my life but that has to be up there. Latest enterprise was this which I made a couple of weeks ago for DS' birthday. I had the genius idea of making my own fondant icing to get the right shade of red. 4 hours later... I'm definitely outsourcing next time!

Blair, as I said on Saturday, I think you do the expensive look very well.

OOTD here is thermal running tights, thermal running top and running shoes. Stylish. Going to shower and change in a minute though!

AmberNectarine · 25/01/2016 10:46

Cake of doom.

libertydoddle · 25/01/2016 13:09

Blair your outfit sounds super chic. I have that sweater and it is tobacco colour.

Great cake amber. You are much better than me. I take DD to M&S and let her pick one. Everyone happy.

I am angsting over some possible new shoes.... Will report back.

MarshaBrady · 25/01/2016 13:41

Beautiful, sunny day in Paris. Finished early so sitting in the sunshine relaxing. Very nice! Some great style around too

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 25/01/2016 14:19

Thanks Amber :)! The cake looks great.

Ooh Marsha I must have missed you were going to Paris. Sounds fabulous.

Longislandicetee · 25/01/2016 14:32

Wow Amber, love the cake!

Lib, you may want to head over to the Outnet as new IM stuff has just arrived. Haven't looked myself yet.

Blair, loving the sound of all your ootds. They all sound chic or shudder..."expensive". It reminds me, I gave up on the expensive thread last week - as I couldn't be arsed to have my every post dissected the thread Queen Bees. It keeps popping up in my TIO. Might pop in and see if it's moved on at allGrin

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 25/01/2016 15:18

Hi all

I'm okay thanks fedup and onecat is more settled. thank you for asking. I have just been snowed under with assignments, i have two due in tomorrow and one due in the day after so i'm going all out now finishing them off, tidying them up and getting them ready for hand in! I feel like i've done an absolute ton fo work in a very short space of time and it's quite mentally exhausting. I also just couldn't sleep last night and was still awake at 4.30am this morning Shock

that cake is FAB Amber you have some skills!

OOTD is a lindy bop leena plaid stripe dress in reds and greys and a grey cotton and cashmere mix cardigan with the ever present black opaque tights. Star wars slippers on feet as I haven't been out at all today as i've been composing

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 25/01/2016 15:49

Thanks Blingy (means a lot coming from the bling & bag queen with my dream work wardrobe!)

The thread limps on Grin. I wasn't going to post again either but got sucked in a couple of days ago.

FWIW (and I struggled to articulate this on that thread, inamongst so many posts) I really think it is easier to achieve an expensive look if you suit classic styles. But since I can't explain what I mean by expensive, and everyone else thinks differently anyway, this is irrelevant

AmberNectarine · 25/01/2016 16:04

I have no skills, honest, just a grim determination to see things through. The swear words that were uttered in this house that day were really something.

Collected this today, though I ordered it for less than half this from a local boutique just down the street from Matches! I like it a lot, it's very bright but then I like a bright colour in the office. Will be great for client events that go on into evening.

BendyBusBuggy · 25/01/2016 17:44

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone!

Amber, the dress is stunning!

Blingy, the dress and sandals are great! The Lucy Choi courts - it's funny how sometimes shoes that look very nice in a picture look all "goody two shoes" when worn

Dry, your post made me laugh - and reminded me of when a friend was hellbent on us going to this place on Kings Road with very overpriced food and lots of "beautiful" people.

Lib aah the colours! When I saw the lovely Fol d jacket I thought of this but it's sold out in everything except sizes 8 and 18 Sad

BendyBusBuggy · 25/01/2016 17:48

Alternative in glacier or Spring jacket

BendyBusBuggy · 25/01/2016 17:50

Brora colours are nicer in RL than on their website

libertydoddle · 25/01/2016 20:58

bendy I would never have thought of Brora for a jacket. Great tip. I like the spring one.

Good to hear that onecat is OK Smile

Drywhitethanks · 25/01/2016 21:24

Amber I LOVE that dress and what an incredible bargain.
Blair your outfit sounds lush. And I agree with you about classic styles looking expensive. I think camel looks classy too but doesn't suit everyone.

I think there is a fine line between 'expensive' and 'frumpy' on that thread. The Sloane preppy look is expensive but a bit unimaginative. I'd rather look chic and that's subjective and really admire women who have a definite individual style even if it is very different to my own.

Amber I may have found a silk, burgundy shirt Smile will pm you

Merriboo · 25/01/2016 21:37

Amber just wow at your cake making skills, and that dress is lush.

Glad to hear onecat is settled

Blingy mmm yes I did wonder about that with suede, especially as it's a fairly pale grey. But I do really like it. I wondered if it would suffer from being the current "it" bag as well.

Mara no, it's from an independent jewellers and a one off. if I can work out how to post a photo will do Grin

KittyHello · 25/01/2016 21:42

Lib have you thought about a cape style jacket? I thought that one from Liberty suited you, maybe not that exact one but the style seemed very you.

Blair I too have that Gap sweater except mine is colour block with contrasting ecru trim around the collar and cuffs. It's a favourite of mine.

Blingy I like the CK bangle

Amber impressive cake making skills, I outsource the cakes here too, can conjure up a mean carrot cake from the Hummingbird Bakery Book though.

ootd was charcoal grey Uniqlo ankle length trousers, dark merlot Me & Em top with burgundy vest underneath, leopard print flats, LV animal print scarf and black Jaeger coat.

Amber I love that dress & great cake!

OOTD is indigo skinnies, black Gant jumper & trainers
Hope the links work, I'm new to linking!

Drywhitethanks · 26/01/2016 07:46

Bother Amber can't remember where I saw it, will look again tonight Confused

Larastheme · 26/01/2016 10:07

Morning!

The cake is actually nice!

*beautiful bracelet

I managed to buy the chloe cardi/coat, and I'm torn, I really love it, but its really huge even an xs is too big, but I guess it's the chloe look, it is much nicer with heels which is my dilemma, I don't wear heels much during the day,and I don't want to get something I won't be able to just throw on and wear loads, will need to think about it before we leave on Thursday to the uk.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 26/01/2016 10:20

Morning all

Merriboo I'm afraid not, I got it in the sale preview before Christmas, do they have an online stock checker? Am sure they will do it again next winter anyway. :) The bracelet is beautiful.

Lovely dress Dream, I love me+em.

Lara can you belt it?

Today's OOTD - navy lace Mango pencil skirt, opaques and neon peach Tippi. I had a couple of compliments on the colour of the jumper from colleagues - I know I look better in brights, it's just harder to look expensive in them Wink Grin.

Have a lovely day everyone!
