I am going for

  1. Cut and colour. Not everyone colours their hair some of us only when we needed to at about 42
  2. Wrap dresses and big tits

This is my friend in a Vivien of Holloway dress for her hen do....I think she looks great....apart from not having a head obvs Grin

That being said the full on 50's flared out dresses don't suit everyone

I give a shit about other people's bras. Nothing more disconcerting that nipples poking through thin, badly fitting bras - esp. in a workplace, or when it's the Headteacher delivering a speech to the whole school plus parents...

i quite like that aubergine colour but it got a right slagging on here.

BrendaandEddie · 30/12/2015 16:10

garlic i agree with you but my blonde mum ( now white) cant wear the strong colours that once flattered her so much, so I think there might be something in it

"My biggest pet hate of all is "As we age our skin loses colour, so change to a lighter hair colour or go naturally grey." Why? In whose book is it a brilliant idea to respond to ageing by making yourself grey all over??! The same advisors tell you to tone down your makeup and wear subtle shades. Fantastic. The older I get, the more I aspire to look like a piece of weather-beaten rock. Not"

Yes, yes, yes! At last someone else agrees with me on this. We fade away as we age so lets make our hair match so we're even more invisible.

And I like chunky boots and shoes as well.

SirChenjin · 30/12/2015 16:10

Aubergine got a slagging on here? Why? Confused

Mine is staying a rich copper colour after someone helpfully suggested that I should just dye it brown. Love people who have the guts to be a bit different MrsD especially as I know I am too chicken

BrendaandEddie · 30/12/2015 16:11

there is a woman i see in court often who wears VERY tight long sleeve white tops with a white t shirt bra underneath

There was a weather woman on tv today (in a wrap dress would you believe) and I wanted to scream at the tv - hoik your bloody tits up woman!

all she needed to do was adjust the bra adjusters. They were almost on her waist.

NoMore314 · 30/12/2015 16:11

garlic I got my favourite jumper in Cos. Lovely maroon colour, suits me, and it is just the right length in the sleeve and the sleeves are just slightly but not ridiculously puffed. So it's a very plain jumper but its magic is that it's very flattering. I get ''you look well'' in it. Not ''where's your jumper from?''

But then there is NOTHING worse than my SIL who has dyed her hair almost black and its not a good look on a nearly 50 year old pale face. She looks pasty faced. Although i agree, don't fade into away but dont do the opposite.

TaliZorah · 30/12/2015 16:13

I hate 50's style dresses. Surely only women who do blogs where them for their photoshoots???? Very fancy dress. I have never seen anyone wear anything like that in real life. Agreed.
Lindybop for example yuk yuk yuk.

I wear them every day. Not just for blogging, so yeah some people do. Didn't expect it to get so bashed on here Confused

The advice to wash curly hair with just conditioner, does fuck all for mine.

HanSolo · 30/12/2015 16:13

Re my mintvelvet hatred- I love grey, I just hate their drapey crap.

NoMore314 · 30/12/2015 16:14

oh there's a woman in my work and I long for somebody else to tell her to wear a bra. She has huge boobs and doesn't wear a bra.

Another woman was telling me that she went on a date with a man who seemed to dress so well she wondered if he was really straight. We were laughing and saying the next guy you date, timberland boots, carpenter jeans lol. Then the boobies on the waist woman stood up to leave and she had on carpenter jeans and caterpiller boots so I think I'll be looking at her waist height boobs for another year. It is most discomboobulating.

On dying your hair a quirky colour; I read on a hideous blog by a men's right activist how much he hated women with artificial hair colour, how they were all unfeminine or lesbians. Avoiding men like sounds a good enough reason to grab the purple dye.

Greengardenpixie · 30/12/2015 16:15

Tali
Nothing against people who wear it. Its just a catch all on here and a look i dislike for myself personally.

HortonWho · 30/12/2015 16:15

Garlic, I'm an apple shape (boobs and carry extra weight around torso) and long legs and Cos clothes really work for me. I love the Cos dresses as I can't wear fitted ones - I think they're a bit magical as I look thinner in them, despite them looking like overpriced sacs of cloths on their website. And I love their sales. Always find something on sale.
