I am going for

  1. Cut and colour. Not everyone colours their hair some of us only when we needed to at about 42
  2. Wrap dresses and big tits

Too much snidiness on this thread.

What I like about Style and Beauty is the array of opinions and suggestions that are eye opening and helpful at times.

This sneering at leggings/rockabilly/grey hair/pixie cuts etc is a crappy bitch fest.

This thread is a prime example of the incorrect fashion advice that regularly gets doled out on here because style is individual.

CrabbyCockwomble · 30/12/2015 18:32

What a very goady, designed-to-offend-maximum-number-of-people thread. So unlike Brenda. Confused

NoMore314 · 30/12/2015 18:36

yall can savage it!

ShebaQueen · 30/12/2015 18:50

I love that NoMore, where is it from?

NoMore314 · 30/12/2015 18:55

I could tell you but the shop was slated here a while back. It was from debenhams. ben de lisi. I'm short so it looks good on me. I find blazers quite stiff and uptight but that one is easy.

Hatethis22 · 30/12/2015 18:56

Yes to the stupid 50s dresses being pushed on here! They look silly.

I think the grey dye works on people who look young enough that you're sure it's definitely a dye.

ProjectPerfect · 30/12/2015 18:58

Bra sizes are as meaningless as clothes sizes. A 10 in Next or M&S hangs off me, a 12 in Karen Millen or Reiss is about right.

My most comfortable bra says 36DD, despite the intervention threads wanting me in a breathily tight 32F

ijustwannadance · 30/12/2015 19:00

I'm pear shape so suit the skater style patterned dresses with leggings but look dreadful In those grown up style fitted numbers.
Hate the whole nude colour thing. It suits very few women. I would look like a corpse in a dress that matched my skin tone.

SirRaymondClench · 30/12/2015 19:00

Jeezus I love 50s dresses AND cardis AND tea dresses AND I have Mint Velvet stuff.
And I'm not one little bit sorry either.

Luckily we are all individuals with our own minds eh? Grin

People with boobs can only wear v necks

Short hair is always better (it rarely is, IMO)

Fashion should be flattering (it should be FUN)

Hollinhurst84 - that dress with the leggings would look better with thick black tights rather than leggings - the point they break across your calf makes your legs look chunkier than they are in that photo - you have very lovely lower legs.

Leggings that aren't ankle length don't do most woman any favours on the lower leg.

CrabbyCockwomble · 30/12/2015 19:08

My Confused at the idea that Brenda is a goady fucker was entirely sarcastic, btw. Wink

GarlicCake · 30/12/2015 19:11

I think it's quite a fun thread Xmas Smile

TaliZorah · 30/12/2015 19:14

Project I'm an 8-10 and a 28 don't see how you can wear a 36 Confused

building2015 · 30/12/2015 19:15

See, this was my point, early early early on on the thread. What looks great on one person will look rubbish on others.

So all advice without pics is POINTLESS.

which ones MrsDevere? I love the Audrey dresses from LindyBop!

lurkingabit · 30/12/2015 19:24

God yes to wanting to bra intervention random women.

I'm a decent pear (shaped woman) and skater dresses are truly hideous on me. Shiver.
I look about 100 years old in wrap dresses.

And what's with the advice for those 50's dresses for top-heavy women? Why emphasise your widest bit?
Those 'wiggle' dresses. Wiggle. How do you even walk in them?

All the advice for folk suffering with acne. Fgs people, acne is a medical issue. It causes scarring. You'd go to the ends of the earth for any other condition causing scarring. No OTC salve made by Socrates himself will cure it. Go to your GP.

NoMore314 · 30/12/2015 19:27

yes, I thought it was a fun thread. didn't realise it was goady :-/

ButImNotTheOnlyOne · 30/12/2015 19:29

Nice work Mrs deVere .. Which ones ?
There's a few sneery threads in style and beauty today. Think someone has been at the Xmas eggnog

user7755 · 30/12/2015 19:32

I'm really surprised at the number of people who think that we ought to be dressing according to rules, who don't like to see people expressing their creativity through their appearance. For example, both of these photos look fine to me but the one in jeans looks like she is is happy to just blend into the background and morph into everyone else.

The photos posted already are fine (actually I quite like the VB one) but are very dull IMHO, there is nothing about them which conveys a sense of someone being interesting - just very conventional, which would be my worst nightmare.

You can't wear tights with sandals or peep toes EVER! It's v v wrong.

No one needs white bras. You wear nude undergarments under white or pale colours or everyone will see your bra\pants!

Sports clothing is for children or adults parking in sport.

Those are my 3 gems for which you can rip me to shreds ladies.
