I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

Oh, that's disappointing.. I will be at an airport tomorrow, so can do some scent sampling. Last time tried TF Noir for Women and it was nothing special. Also was gone quite quickly.

Schnozz has returned to working order! Scent of the Morning was a handy vial of Afternoon of a Faun (ELdO). Starts herby and grassy, then dries to a floral hay scent, more suited to summer than the downpour we were enduring at the time. Post-shower, it was Eau Parfumee au The Bleu, which is oolong tea and lavender. Very subtle, and quite sublime; muted deliciousness!

MrsCocoa · 03/01/2016 19:12

Cresset - the ELd'O sounds beautiful, have added to my test list.

Am still on a bit of a Lush jag and speaking of tea, I rather like their Sikkim Girls (Darjeeling and Frangipani notes).

cressetmama · 04/01/2016 14:16

Mid afternoon and I haven't got scent on yet! Doing housework, washing etc and waiting for computer engineer! But posting anyway because we have dropped off page 1!

MrsCocoa · 04/01/2016 21:36

Cresset - tracked down The Afternoon of a Faun today. Sublime on a test strip but much less interesting on me (all the ethereal top notes disappeared leaving me with much more worldly vegetation and smoke).

Also tried my sample of Beaufort's 1805. Extraordinary but not in an entirely good way. The opening is a blast of nausea-enducing ozonic smoke. Physically repellent to the point of wondering about whether this was joke about seasickness? I scrubbed it off with detergent, but it proved tenacious. Smelt my wrist an hour later and the most gorgeous sweet well- blended amber had appeared. Great trick, but for me, not worth the preceding misery. Anyone else tried this?

cressetmama · 05/01/2016 09:45

I'm a bit meh about ELd'O in general. I can't think of one that I actually want to buy but the sample set was an interesting voyage of discovery. It makes quite a good present for anyone you know is a novice perfumista or looking for something to love, if only because it's fairly provocative.

Was 1805 a Frapin scent MrsCocoa? I think I had a sample from Nose but can't remember the juice. And "not worth the misery" would be me too.

MissBattleaxe · 05/01/2016 09:59

I agree about ELDO. Every sample I've tried has been a bit weak. I quite liked Jasmine et Cigarette but even that hardly registered.

CointreauVersial · 05/01/2016 13:45

ELDO - I adore Fils de Dieu du Riz et des Agrumes (phew, there's a mouthful) - like a thai curry, but in a good way, all lime and warm creamy rice. It's one of the few fragrances for which I've repeat-purchased decants.

I also love the immortelle in Tilda Swinton Like This. And special mention of course to Fat Electrician, which I originally bought because of the name (I work for an electrical engineering company) but I really like - I find the vetiver/lavender combo really uplifting.

One I'm not so crazy about is Bendelirious, which is a bit sickly/lipstick-y for me.

SOTD is Neela Vermeire Pichola, which is soft floral-spicy - nice enough, but hasn't swept me away. I'm not sure I put enough on.

FrustratedFrugal · 05/01/2016 14:07

We are back from Dubai with a couple of interesting local oudh-type perfumes. They have a stinky opening (camel dung, basically), then a lovely and long-lasting middle phase and drydown.

Also spritzed on some Encens Mythique d'Orient on the Guerlain counter at the airport. It's extremely voluminous, like a meringue of rose halva. Not an everyday scent but really comforting.

FrustratedFrugal · 05/01/2016 15:59

Oh, and Kilian Hennessy has a new 'fume called Voulez-vous coucher avec moi Hmm

cressetmama · 05/01/2016 17:55

Welcome back Frugal. Trust you were not close to the Address on NYE. Have never smelt any of the Kilian's except Cruel Intentions, via Nose. Nice enough, but not a strong contender for me. Love the name of the new one though, have you smelt it?

I'd forgotten Fat Electrician Cointreau. It's one of the ELd'O's I like best, and such a great name.

cressetmama · 05/01/2016 17:57

Still thinking about the lightbulb stub btw Cointreau! Passing that job over to DH I think.

CointreauVersial · 05/01/2016 22:07

Still stuck, Cresset?? I thought PigletJohn told you to stick a carrot in it!

MrsCocoa · 06/01/2016 00:01

Cresset 1805 is Beaufort London.

Cointreau is your Pichola from a Perfume Society discovery box? If so you may have 1805 too?

MissBattleaxe · 06/01/2016 01:12

I tried Beaufort 1805. AWFUL

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 06/01/2016 01:16

bought myself an early birthday present of two 4160 tuesday perfumes. i chose babylon sunset and rome 1963. babylon sunset is all fruit, flowers, vanilla and honey and rome 1963 is big white flowers. babylon sunset might sound very celeb fragrance a like being a fruity floral sort of thing but it's very well done and not at all cheap and fizzy like celeb perfumes tend to be. went with the rome 1963 one as i love big loud white flowers

FrustratedFrugal · 06/01/2016 07:53

OneNightTime your perfumes sound absolutely wonderful.
Cresset we had an uneventful NYE on the other side of the town - the fire looked really scary though Sad

Still trying to decide which perfume to wear today - very cold here, definitely a good time to wear orientals.

getoffthattabletnow · 06/01/2016 08:41

You are all so adventurous at trying out new perfumes.I had a chest infection over Christmas so wore no perfume.
Ever since then I've been in a quiet reflective mood and just want to stick to my new favourite California Reverie. Its such a delicious Mandarin and White Flower perfume that I've been wearing it for weeks.I've got masses of samples I need to try but have no inclination to do so.

FrustratedFrugal · 06/01/2016 09:50

Getoff I often repeat-wear a perfume for days or weeks. Often, when you discover perfumes, there is an exploration phase - you try everything under the sun (I even tried a ghastly Cavalli one featuring a glittery serpent bottle Wink). When you find what you really like, you enjoy getting to know every nuance, and then you enjoy the familiarity... I've been a lazy perfume blog reader but went through some of 'Best of 2015' posts and I haven't tried any of the new releases.

cressetmama · 06/01/2016 10:25

Piglet John has failed on this occasion; the carrot just got cored! Still puzzling how to proceed. Makes a change from thinking about perfume I suppose.

SecondSunrise · 06/01/2016 11:49

Happy New Year Oh Scented Ones!
SOTD is Roja Dove's Unspoken. I am in love with it. The opening is a bit musty/oakmoss/patch but then it turns into a spicy orris deliciousness. I can't really describe it to be honest but I'm glad I took a risk on it.

Onenight your Birthday treats sound lovely.

I missed the discussion about ELdO the other day - but I love them. They don't always pull off their mad ideas but they are really fun to explore. My favourites are Bijou Romantique, Putains de palaces, Like This (Pumpkin Pie, syrupy immortelle and ginger!) and Archive 69 (mad camphor, pepper, berriness).

Hope you're feeling better soon getoff.

cressetmama · 06/01/2016 12:29

OneNight, are those new 4160 Tuesdays? I don't remember the names from my flirtation with their scents, but I went for things that sounded like me. They sound great for lovers of white flowers.

However, I am loving the sound of SecondSunrise new passion. Must make a note to look out for it if and when I see a Roja Dove counter. There are none near me.

SoTD is Dzing! Just caught a waft from my wrist and thought what a lovely smell. It's quirky, but so easy and comfortable.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 06/01/2016 12:52

cresset babylon sunset used to be called Says Alice and Rome 163 is from the vintage cities collection

cressetmama · 06/01/2016 13:04

All new ones on me then OneNight. Shall keep an open mind and nostrils.
