Anyone discovered any great fashion blogs recently?

SpecificPacific · 29/08/2015 21:52

There seem to be so many fashion blogs now but I haven't found any recently that make me thing wow, great blog I can get inspiration from.

Love Pinterest but like blogs for links/instant info on where items are from. Gone off WIT now constantly pushing her wardrobe icons site and J Crew, school gate/run etc not my thing at all, Find DMBL40 patronising. A few I used to like stopped posting often and I lost interest.

Am 34, 2 DC and still like to make an effort, like to mix high street and odd higher end items.

Any ideas? Smile

PrincessDave I linked your blog. 'Particular personal style' is a good thing Smile - my comment was just to let OP know it might not be what she was looking for.

Am sorry to see you have had nasty messages - good on you for your most recent post.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/09/2015 17:01

Sorry to hear that you've had some nasty comments, Dave. Hell, yes re it taking guts to put pics up - I wouldn't be brave enough in a million years!

Your style is more colourful than this aged goth could ever manage, but I love the blouse in your second most recent post.

StillFrankie · 03/09/2015 18:16

princessdave those comments are not to do with me, I swear :(

I gave up blogging myself because of this, you expose yourself to all sorts of comments plus I was too lazy to update

cardoon · 03/09/2015 18:22

I don't agree with frankie at all dave! - perfectly age appropriate and we have quite a few items in common Wink

BrendaandEddie · 03/09/2015 18:22

ROAR at Erica's jumpsuit

princessdave · 03/09/2015 18:28

Oh gosh Frankie I know! Don't worry Smile
Cardoon do I know you on Insta?! Wink
Thanks Remus. The blouse is an old favourite from Anthropologie.

Bernice thank you- I've gained 9 new followers on Bloglovin and that is lovely, totally offsets two unnecessary comments.

Blodss thank you, normally I do enjoy it Smile

Btw totally agree with the poster who suggested Mission:Style, I really like Karen's style too.

petitdonkey · 03/09/2015 19:08

I really enjoy All Worn Out but I do wish that more of the members would blog - I really enjoy Eve's posts but it seems like she's on her own these days!! I used to really like Belinda and Jasmine too but haven't seen posts from them in ages (is Belinda WWE?)

I am often wistful as I was once due to go to a W&A meet-up but I bottled it!! I don't even know if that is the same group of ladies but I fantasise that I could've been blogging with them!!

Googlers123 · 03/09/2015 19:31

I'm hoping this isn't an awful and inappropriate thing to ask, but what size do you think Erica from the edited is? I think she looks gorgeous, curvy and in proportion, and I love her style, and one of the things I like about her which I can relate to is that she isn't stick thin like most of the bloggers are. So I find it useful to see what she is wearing and looks good in rather than trying to replicate the look of a skinny blogger and failing. I would guess she is 12-14.

BaxterDawes · 03/09/2015 19:31

I have just looked at The Edited Hmm

That jumpsuit does nothing for her. Unless of course she is 4 foot 10 and extremely thick set, in which case it looks marvellous.

Googlers123 · 03/09/2015 19:37

Meant to say, I the reason I was asking about her size was to estimate whether she is a similar size to me

MNetter15 · 03/09/2015 19:54

I had a look at what Lou wore and thought her style (your, if you're reading)! was mid 30's+ - 40's. definitely not 20's Shock although you have a great figure so could get away with dressing much younger. I hope that comes across as a compliment Blush

AmberNectarine · 03/09/2015 21:33

petit I am a legacy W&A poster - you should have come, we're lovely :)

petitdonkey · 03/09/2015 21:53

Ahhh Amber - I know!! I miss W&A!

BrendaandEddie · 03/09/2015 22:09

What's that

AmberNectarine · 03/09/2015 22:18

The Wise and avid threads brenda, you must remember!

StillFrankie · 04/09/2015 07:26

The Style Blogs I like are the ones where they buy clothes that are cheap but nice, I can't afford to shop in many of the places they shop, I don't even want to shop at Boden as I think £40 for a top is ridiculous. (I'd spend like £25 max)

I also like it where the blogger is completely put together, not just concentrating on the clothes. If she has nice hair, makeup, accessories then its more inspirational iykwim, it makes me want to make more of an effort lol, I like the completely polished look.

Bloggers who wear fabulous clothes with very hairy legs and pits, sorry but it just makes me feel a bit sick. What's the point in making effort to show off fabulous clothes and/or makeup if people are not going to be looking at that?

I also dislike the blogs where they squeeze into clothes far too small for them. I'm a plus size girl myself but being proud of your size doesn't mean you have to look uncomfortable, you're just contradicting yourself really

MNetter15 · 04/09/2015 12:49

That's why I like Ystyle StillFrankie, she always looks immaculate.

WipsGlitter · 05/09/2015 16:57

Yes. There's a blogger I've seen who is deluded about her size. She wore a skin tight dress once and it was dreadful. And really unflattering. I'm a chubster myself but I know my limits.

hiccupgirl · 06/09/2015 08:32

I've discovered the world of fashion blogs in the last 6 months and I love reading about the clothes and ideas. It's made a massive impact on my style which was completely lost after losing a lot of weight and being ill.

Personally I don't like lots of make up etc and much prefer the more everyday blogs. But that's because I don't wear makeup. I also hate the vlogs that are popping up everywhere now. Most of them are just very dull monologues and I'd much rather have something to read.

I'm not a massive fan of DMBL40's style but I love the fact she posts lots and I've got lots of ideas from her lists. She does give lots of different looks for ages and budgets.

princessdave I think you look great.

Wannabechic1 · 06/09/2015 20:25

if you're not a skinny minnie... girlwithcurves.com
and if you are... www.memorandum.com
or if you're petite... www.extrapetite.com

for the minimalists... www.extrapetite.com , into-mind.com (all you need to know to get your wardrobe in order), www.readingmytealeaves.com

As for me, I'm an apple shape amazon looking to lose 5 stone by christmas. Also woke today and realised I dont own a single pair of tights anymore after Kondo cleanout... www.un-fancy.com also good for showing how to wear alot of outfits from a small capsule wardrobe.

Wannabechic1 · 06/09/2015 20:29

oh and the workwear edit... (heart eyes emoticon)

OldPossum · 07/09/2015 14:24

Hmm - think I had better start a blog for +/- 50 year olds with saggy tums and monster boobs. Am going to spend the rest of the afternoon imagining who I could get to advertise in the sidebar.......

I gave up on WIT with the photos posed in ridiculous heels - then on Instagram later in the day wearing flats. Ffs if you only put something on for a photo then immediately take it off because it is completely incompatible with normal life, don't tell everyone else to wear it too Hmm

Annarose2014 · 09/09/2015 22:01

Thats why I rarely look at Atlantic Pacific anymore. Its basically fancy dress.

I stopped looking at WIT cos I really don't feel like reading the JCrew catalogue, thanks.
