Who's on board for a no-spend August?

There's no decent Autumn clothes in the shops yet, I have plenty of make up that needs using up, I bought some lovely shoes in the sales and I'm pretty well stocked up with the essentials. And the last two months have been pretty spendy so I could do with saving a bit this month.

I need new toothbrush heads, cleanser and deodorant and need to get legs waxed next week but then that's it until September. I'm quite looking forward to using up odds and ends and treating myself to some new Autumn make up next month

Anyone else fancy a break from S&B spending?

I am in! No S&B purchases except one Korean order. I will focus on using up and rediscovering gems from my newly kondoed wardrobe!

I need jeans but apart from that. I have been Kondo-ing too.

Here you go en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_Kondo. It's just decluttering really but I like the way she folds clothes and stores them upright in drawers so that you can see them all at once. My drawers look amazing. How long they'll stay like that I can't say.

Just had a 20% off voucher come through from M&S and I've got my eye on a few things in there. NOOOOOO!

Going to stand firm and hope they do their 20% off deal for August bank holiday weekend as well

I'm in. Just bought a grey hoodie from white stuff and that's me done until September. I have enough skincare to open a spa.

I did okay in June (though it was my birthday so I bought}

Bodyshop stuff - had a 20% off voucher
DC bought me some Philosophy -presents are allowed yes
Haircut -supercuts. I dye it myself
Dress -Peacocks
M&S treggings
They're real mascara

Then in July:
Next jeans
Cardigan from Matalan
M&S leggings
Haircut this weekend

So August:

I can do it
I have my holiday clothes and sandles
I need suncream but that's not S&B that's Health

Then in September, I can buy jumpers

I recently had a clear out and threw away all my tatty / unflattering stuff. I decided to stop saving my nice clothes for 'best' (and thereby never wearing them). I'm trying to make more of an effort with how I dress / look as I realised I had let myself go a bit. So I am trying to actually plan outfits rather than just throw on a random selection of stuff that doesn't go together.

Anyway June and July I hand spent a fair bit stocking up on some good quality basics and a few other more fashionable bits. I have filled all RBS gaps in my wardrobe and don't need any beauty stuff either so August is definitely no spend for me.

Just wondering, I like your ideas. Big fan of planning ahead, throwing out the tat and buying good quality clothes that you wear lots and don't just save for the wardrobe. I'm planning to do the same in Autumn, buying much less stuff than usual but spending a bit more on it

last year I bought 2 Woolover Pure New wool jumpers that were (IIRC about £45 for the 2)

But much much better investment that 4-5 cheapie acrylic ones.
They are machine wash (with Woolite and woolwash cycle) so no extra effort.
And they look good,warm,smart and will be worn this winter and next

Euuurgh, just had a very long and complicated visit to my online banking site, I AM IN! Apart from getting my hair cut and coloured at the end of the month.

70 would you mind if I asked which woolover ones? I bought three last year, two cardigans and a sweater - I LOVE a good chunky woolly wear - but all three are super thick, itchy and not the most flattering. The type you think 'well, I'll just have to get some wear out of them round the house' - Marie Kondo would have a fit. So disappointed because when I saw the catalogue I assumed it was my woolly heaven.

I think I prefer uniqlo knits, v smooth and excellent washing.

I'm in! I have been recklessly spending for ages and seem to have lots of clothes which A. Don't fit or B. Don't go with anything else I own. (we won't even go into all the very uncomfortable irregular choice shoes I seem to have) Apart from getting my hair done next week I intend on spending nothing!

I think I did better in July than June, just:
Two pairs of jeans in GAP £10 each reduced from £45
Two hush scarves, one £5 from £35 and one £15 from £45
One white company skirt £24 from £60
One white company scarf £25 from £50
One tunic thing Mistral £13,from £65
So about £100 all in. Been using up toiletry stash too.

Going for low spend August too. Going to be after boots and shoes soon but maybe not until September.

I live in the middle of nowhere with no access to online shopping.

Spent around £100 in total in July but eventually need new gym clothes, so if I can spend £30-50, I'll be happy.

DP owes me £70 so will take it out of that.

I have a couple of July spends outstanding, that will run into August due to being on holiday. I really want to do a 'no spend August' for a number of reasons:

1. A pre-holiday splurge. In July has kept me stocked.

1. It's my birthday in September.

1. There isn't anything nice in the shops.

4 it will be good discipline for me.

Please help keep me on track.
