Does anyone else have any same-factory/producer tips?

Lotta I'm in the US so they're everywhere here, but I've just checked and amazon UK sell them both.

BeverlyGoldberg · 13/02/2017 13:19

I love the Nivea blue pot night cream.

I've had Clinique night cream and Temple Spa Repose but always go back to Nivea.

Lottapianos · 13/02/2017 13:30

Thanks Loup

This is a five years old, but it is an eye opener in terms of the big brands and what they own:

The daily mail did a test thingy where the writer used Nivea on one side of her face and creme de la mer on the other, a dermatologist then assessed her skin throughout and the Nivea side was in the best condition, I think the main difference in the ingredients is the seaweed. It's a good read.

I hate baked make up, I had a Chanel eyeshadow quartet, it was unusable after a while because of the film over the top. I think the bourjois foundation is better than Chanel vita lumiere.

NomDePlumeReloaded · 13/02/2017 16:41

I love the light coverage of vitalumiere liquid but I hate the highly fragranced nature of it.

BusterGonad · 13/02/2017 17:11

Dame all my Chanel palettes are in perfect condition and I've had them all for at least 3 years some 6 years! Eyeshadows can go hard if you don't prep your eyelids with foundation and then face powder as the oils can give the eyeshadows a hard film on top.

Littleballerina · 13/02/2017 17:25

I love my trusty little blue pot of nivea

DameXanaduBramble · 13/02/2017 19:56

I always, always prep first, Buster, the pigmentation is really rubbish too.

violetgrey · 13/02/2017 21:39

Chanel used to own Bourjois many years ago, I just read an interview with their ex PR person who mentioned it. I used both brands and I don't think that the products are the same. I love the smell of blue Nivea but it just makes me look like I spread grease on my face.

LoupGarou · 13/02/2017 21:46

Can I ask, how do eye shadows and blushers become unusable? I've never had this happen and am curious, I have a lot of Chanel palettes and it doesn't seem to be an issue - is it because I scrub over the top of it first to get to the fresh colour underneath?

BusterGonad · 14/02/2017 01:52

Loud imagine using your eyeshadow brush in butter then wiping it in your eyeshadow, leaving it to dry then trying to use your eyeshadow! It's basically when they kind of turn hard with no colour pay off!

BusterGonad · 14/02/2017 01:54

Loup I mean.
Violet it's actually Bourjois who own Chanel!

LoupGarou · 14/02/2017 02:39

Ahh I see thanks Buster that makes sense - in that case it has happened to me but I've used a razor blade to scrape of the top few layers and beneath has always been ok. I am tight though and not prepared to write off something without some dubious attempts to revive it Smile

BusterGonad · 14/02/2017 02:45

Why waste it Loup? I'd do the same!

LoupGarou · 14/02/2017 03:30

Exactly buster, I really resent having to waste anything.

Housewife2010 · 14/02/2017 04:19

My Chanel Les Beiges powder got a grease layer on it which I have to scrape off. I wasn't impressed at all. I have dry skin and wash my makeup brushes every week or two. I have been using the Hourglass powder for so long that I have hit pan and there is no grease on it at all. The Chanel powder is the only one this has happened to in over thirty years of makeup wearing.

BusterGonad · 14/02/2017 07:45

For you ladies who's Chanel go hard do you by any chance keep your make up in the bathroom?

GinIsIn · 14/02/2017 08:00

Buster you really shouldn't use eye make up that's been open 6 years - it's asking for an eye infection! Shock

I keep meaning to try Astral cream.

DameXanaduBramble · 14/02/2017 08:06

hoisewife it's so funny that you say that about Les Beiges, beautiful product but that same thing happened to me with it too. And I had the Hourglass illuminating blusher, the coral bronze one, didn't happen at all.

DameXanaduBramble · 14/02/2017 08:07

I keep mine in my 'what I call make up room' (spare room!) - not the bathroom. I have way too much make up for that!

lottieandmia · 14/02/2017 08:16

Chanel's lip glosses and mascaras are the best imo and not even comparable to Bourjois.

DameXanaduBramble · 14/02/2017 08:59

I love Chanel glosses, I'm a repeat buyer of the coral without sparkles, number 52, I think? I'm all about Clinique mascara though.

DameXanaduBramble · 14/02/2017 08:59

Actually bourjois do do a fantastic dupe, I think it's their number 52 I'm on about. It's a non sparkle coral, virtually the same as the Chanel one.
